The Da Vinci Code

What I can't understand is that if all of us (very controversial) teens with (headstrong) opinions can agree to disagree and leave it alone...then why are all the adults making such a big deal out of it? Crazy fanatics... :confused3

You're right. There shouldn't be so much controversy over a FICTIONAL book.

I know someone who started measuring all the rooms of his house because of something in the Da Vinci Code. The scary thing is that he's actually serious about it :scared:

I have no idea what it means though :confused3

Sorry, this is :offtopic: but hahaha that just reminded me of the people who thought that duct tape and saran wrap were going to save them from anthrax...idk why?

i read the book and saw the movie the day it came out and i think they left a lot of details out of the movie so the book was better.. according to some people they left some stuff out as to not offend people.. so if you liked the movie then i definetely recommend reading the book its much better
plus yesterday i also saw X3 and it was pretty good too.. i spend way too much time at the movies.

Ive read the book and ive seen the movie... but like always with me the book was much better then the movie.. and it was a good movie.. :thumbsup2

okay, well i read the book AND saw the movie.

the book is better than the movie in my opinion.

it's a good movie and i think if i havdn't read the book i would've enjoyed it much better.
but i'm glad i read the book because it goes much more in depth and is easier to understand.

as for the storyline--i just recently did i project on da vinci and the whole 'mary magdalene on the right hand of jesus in the last supper' i don't believe that. the person is supposed to be John, and if you've ever seen another painting of St. John by Da Vinci you'd realize that's who it is. Da Vinci painted him as a rather feminine looking man, I really don't believe Da Vinci was trying to tell the world that Mary Magdalene & Jesus were married.

People tend to forget that it's a FICTIONAL story. And it's a VERY good plot.

I read the book, it was great. I saw the movie and it was almost as good as the book. I think it's a great plot and its a real page turner. But i dont think any of it is ture. I think Leanardo Da Vinci was a messed up creep, and he had no right to mock Jesus in his paintings, which its obvious that he does. But if Jesus did have a kid and gt married to Mary Magdalen, it wouldn't make a bit of a difference to me. Jesus died for me and thats enough for me. I just think people need to stop bashing it and leave it alone.

i disagree. --not trying to knock you or start anything
but as i said, i did a project on leonardo da vinci, and i don't believe at all that he was implying mary magdalene and Jesus had a child. i don't think he in any way depicted Jesus in a bad light at all? If he was trying to express any underlying religious message i don't think it was about mary magdalene.
that just came out of the mind of dan brown.

Great Book and Movie....its fiction so i wouldnt get worked up about it, although many of those points make sense...if you havent yet read Angels and Demons!

I totally agree.

I loved the book (I read it in 2 days..I couldn't put it down) but I feel it kind of ruined the movie for me because the whole time kept paying attention to the things added to/left out of the movie (the 1st cryptex and the grandmother and brother being the big missing pieces). But I still liked the movie.

I loved pages 282-283 (I bookmarked it) because it talks about religous symbolism in Disney movies. I'm not saying it true or not true, but I found it interesting. So even if you haven't read the book, just pick up a copy in a book store or somewhere and flip to those pages..

This was based on an actual mathmatical equation called phi. You really shouldn't make fun of the poor guy before reading about what he was doing. It is a really fascinating topic.

Dan Brown didn't invent the idea of Jesus being married to Mary Magdalene. Supposedly she flew to France after Jesus was crucified, but we just don't know that. You can't always start the argument of "but the bible says..." because we don't know any of the people that wrote the bible now do we?
How could she fly to France?

...she flew?

The first sucessful (DOCUMENTED) flight was in 1902.

Jesus was crucified just before passover in 33 AD.

can you clarify what youre saying, ryan?

Actually the first flight was in a hot air balloon in the 1700's.

She meant "FLED"

I just saw the movie...good but freaked me out a little...I NOW can see why there is such controversy...because despite it being a fictional book...it makes a VERY good case... :confused3

You just called ryan a she. :lmao:

HAHAHA OMG I'm sorry Ryan! I wasn't paying attn to the name, just the comment!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

I haven't seen it or read it, but I don't see why people are putting up such a fuss. I think there are much worse things out there to be so concerned over, rather than a fictional story that doesn't even seem to suggest anything too terrible.

Well if the actual plot behind the book is true, then the entire christian faith is based off of a lie. :confused3

Umm, no it's not. If Jesus was married I couldn't care less. Jesus being married shouldn't take away from the core aspect of Xtianity, which is that there is one God.
