They should. Isn't the original icon of MGM the watertower? Besides, the horribly cluttery hat screams cheap party decorations like the wand used to. Not to mention it blocks the wonderful exterior of The Great Movie Ride. (you don't get the same Hollywood awe with that hat in the way of your view as you enter the park.

They cant get rid of the hat because of the copyright, legal issues MGM has with Disney.
