Yeah! I'm so glad I found this thread! I think I'm driving my husband crazy with all of the random Disney talk! We are planning a trip September 7-14, 2013 for my daughter's 5th birthday and my husband's 30th birthday. We plan to surprise my daughter of course! We're back and forth between the Polynesian and the Contemporary, but we also have a HUGE group of family also planning to come along to witness my daughter's first experience at Disney! I'm so excited!!! My parent's gave us Disney gift cards for Christmas that would cover our deposit when we decide to book!!

I kwym!!! I havent told my kids, only because the last three planned trips had to be changed due to finances then my ds had sports conflicts, then the school calendar change so I keep saying 'if we go' the 2 eldest just roll their eyes, as if to say, we'll never get back there, so I talk to my 3yo about it, lol. She has been talking about the castle forever, so when they hear her say anything it's normal, Thank God my friend is a fellow Disney freak, and she's over for coffee every morning, because DH really doesn't want to hear anything after the initial 'we're going'

We had to do that with our DSs after we told them about a trip. It was a trip that had to be rescheduled several times and then finally canceled. They were so upset. I'm not telling them about it until the last minute.

That is exactly why I am not saying anything. Worst feeling is having to postpone a trip and then tell the kids so I am trying to avoid that road. That and DH has these big ideas about how he wants to do it. We disagree about WHEN to tell them though. I want to give them a few weeks notice so if they get a bunch of disney gift cards for Christmas next year they aren't bummed. He wants us all to be headed to the car (to go out to eat, etc. or if we are out and going to the car to come home) and have the car windows painted with - we're going to disney world, a stuffed mickey driving, balloons.. the whole big shebang, just waiting for them and then get in the car and go..... We have plenty of time to decide..


BWV looks like such an awesome resort.

My DH and I can't agree how to tell our DSs either. He wants to stick to the original plan that we are just going to Kennedy Space Center and hit some Civil War sites on the way. Then we wouldn't say anything to them until either they figure it our, or we are checking it in at the FWC.

I want to do a surprise thing before we go. I though about doing it as a Christmas gift (b/c the trip will be paid off), but the DH doesn't want to do that.

It's such a horrible feeling DH had gotten laid off, so that put off our trip, and then just when I thought we were good for last summer, DS was asked to play Varsity FB, and had mandatory practice all summer, so I changed to Nov, since the kids have a couple days off, that wouldnt work, bc of play off games, then he went straight into basketball, will head into baseball in the Spring, and Summer we're back to football. Checked the calendar, and it was a go for the 14th or 15th of Dec 2012, but noooo they decided to change the calendar So they have 2 days off in Jan, and we're running with it! I don't care if its a holiday weekend or not, I AM NOT CANCELLING!!!!! LOL I dont have too many more years before DS is gone to college, so it has got to happen! Even at 16 and 6'4" he turns into mush at DW and becomes a little kid again

Its so exciting to see people start planning!! I want to surprise DD5 but she loves "helping" me plan and she keeps asking when we're going back so I'd never be able to keep it a secret!

Yeah, that feeling sucks, but it will feel much better to surprise them with a trip. Now if we can only decide how to finally tell them. Plus I'm hoping to add the surprise of my nephew coming with us for his first trip.

I didn't even think about checking what my new date to make ADR was. Thank you for reminding me. My new ADR date is July 9. WOO HOO!! I don't have to worry about the DSs being late to school.

I just noticed that in your siggy your youngest was born at 32 weeks. Our oldest DS was was at 32 weeks by emergency c-section. My little 4 lb baby is now 14 and about 5'9"-5'1-"-ish.

You would love it! It's a laid back resort, I don't think I ever realized how many people were truly there (the resort was at capacity for FD while we were there), except if you happened to wander into Everything Pop right after the buses started rolling in after park closing. We don't drink, so Petals didn't really appeal to us, our nightlife was the bowling pin pool. The DDs were in there every single night after we returned from the parks, and it was nice to just lie on a lounger and chill while they swam. We may end up back there after all. DD11 appears to be very adamant about staying at Pop again. She's not a particularly outspoken kid, she just goes with the flow, but sh'e dead set on this point of the trip. It's HER birthday, so she'll have the final say. We've got time, though, I'm not worked about it just yet!

We are not making a MB trip this year. Are you? I talked Matt into going back to Disney, so no Myrtle Beach for us. We are taking advantage of the room discount because we already have tickets from points on my disney visa. We had an awesome time this past September. Wish we could have ran into ya.
