I have some questions about The Contemperary.

Is it worth the extra money to stay in the tower?

When is the 2006 renovations gonna be done?

Thanks

We just returned and really loved the South Wing. Close to the pool and very quiet, even with the on-going construction in the building.

I stayed in the wing but if you have kids the tower is fantastic. Watching my kids face drop when she realized we were not going to be in the tower...oh well..next time..

We just returned as well and stayed in a North garden wing. I think the only one disapointed we werent staying in the tower was DH - he even asked how much more it was. However, once we got to the wing room and saw it was the exact same room. Which we arent in that much anyway - he was ok with it. We did find we enjoyed walking to and from the MK - which was a shorter walk if you are in the North wing - you dont have to go through the mail resort area. Also he did say he was glad we did not have to go through the main hotel part when we had finished swimming and everyone was wet. He thought he would feel out of place as it is so nice.

I am not sure when the renovations will be done as they have only done a little from what I can tell. They have not even started on the north wing from what I could tell. Did look like they were putting a new roof on part of the south wing and were working on the 10th floor of the tower.

We had a great time! I do wish the food court had more to choose from we did go over to the GF and ate a CS lunch to use up our CS credits. Wanted something different. Their food was much better and better choices.

We just stayed at the Contemporary (North Wing) last month. We loved it! The tower's views may be wonderful and possibly worth the extra money but I'm not sure there is any way to guarantee what side of the tower you will end up on. I'm sure most people request the MK side. The wing rooms are big and a short distance to the pool and tower. Put it this way, just because we were in the wing didn't mean we could not get caught up in the magic of being so close to the MK!!

I love staying in the North Wing. We had a ground floor room with a patio. We could sit on our patio and watch the kids play on the beach. You can also enter the food court through a side door that's just a few steps from the North Wing. The best is being able to walk to MK and seeing Wishes from out front or on the 4th floor observation deck (in the main building).

We stayed in the tower last summer and it was great! Our room had a wonderful view of MK. Our kids were ages 4 and 2 at that time, so we would have them showered and in bed usually by the time the fireworks started. Dh and I would then sit on the balcony and watch the MK fireworks every night. The kids would sometimes wake up from the loud fireworks (they are very close) and then join us on the balcony enjoying the show before going back to bed. They loved doing this much better then watching them from the park as it can be very loud and overwhelming for you kids sometimes at MK. It was also great to get to our room on the first day and ask them to go see what was outside our window... The castle!!!! :goodvibes

We stayed in the North Garden Wing (7107) last week-- It was great, not a far walk from the main building (monorail) or the path the MK. It had a patio, and a walk from the pool or watching the ewp was great. It was also close to the North parking lot and only steps from the food court (we only got refils on our newly purchased red and purple mugs :teeth: )

There were canopys over the 10 floor from the outside and inside the lobby to cover any work they were doing. We couldn't see any work on the south garden -- but we didn't really walk over there. :confused3

If that is true, I think these pictures tell the whole story. We 1st stayed in the wing, then due to an unruly neighbor, were upgraded to tower. To be honest, having never been, I would not have paid the extra $$ for tower sight unseen. But, now having experience, WOULD NOT STAY ANYWHERE BUT TOWER!!!

The food court (and most importantly, coffee stop) were very close, views amazing, and the best thing was opening the door and seeing the monorail welcome you every morning.

Pay the extra $$. Honestly, it was one of the highlights of my trip!

Have fun!!! :wave2:

We just stayed in CR Magic Kingdom View Tower 12th floor in July and fell in love with the CR!! CM's were fantastic, views are magical and you just feel as though you are immersed in WDW. Can't wait to stay there again!!

We love the Contemporary. Have stayed in Wing and Tower. We definitely stay in the Tower now. Bay Lake and MK are both great views and you won't be disappointed. I do have to say though that our friends had a Wing room that was right on the lake and it was also awesome.

Wow, I didn't know I was gonna get this much tips! lol.

I'm going with my friends and we have decided either to get a cabin at fort wilderness, going the cheap way with the all-star music, or going big with the tower @ the Contemp. Thanks again for all the tips.

Our first stay at CR was in the North Garden Wing, and we have stayed in the Tower every time since then. We stayed 12th floor a few weeks ago and loved everything about it. I am planning on staying Atrium Level in October of '06 and again in April of '07- I absolutely love the CR :)

The tower is worth the extra money and renovations will be occurring in blocks by floor level.

The renovation schedule:
"The South Garden Wing will be closed for refurbishment through October 31. Rumors indicate that the buildings may be completely gutted and rebuilt as Disney Vacation Club villas. No confirmation of the conversion yet. Renovations on the rest of the resort are also underway, and are expected to run through November, 2007."

this oct will be my first stay there, which is amazing considering how many times I have been down to WDW

They weren't gutting the South Wing the first week of August. We stayed in the long corridor and the corridor that tees off from the lobby was being renovated. I'll have to post the photo I took of the corridor during the construction.

are any of the south wing rooms renovated yet?
Any chance of getting a reno'd room in the begining of Oct do you think?
Thanks!

The South wing is being renovated now, scheduled to continue until Oct 31. I think the whole wing is closed.

DH and I absolutely LOVED staying at the Contemporary, although I have never had a tower room (we stayed at the North Wing). You cannot beat the 5-minute walk (YES! FIVE minutes!) to MK. Also, staying at a Monorail resort...well, you just can't beat that with a stick, no matter how hard you try. And we tried.

I am staying at SOG this Sept/October, but if I had my way (and extra cash), I would stay at the CR in a heartbeat.

Unless they closed off the rest of the South Wing since Aug 6, the long corridor was still open. We stayed in room 5312. It was not renovated yet. They looked like they had a way to go on the rooms that they were working on.

I got my info from Allearsnet:

I guess Deb's rehab page needs updating. Thanks for the info!
