Can anyone tell me about eating dinner at the CR and then staying for fireworks??

From some of the pictures I've seen-- the observation deck looks neat and the views of the castle pretty amazing!

Is it crowded up there? How pricey is it? Is it hard to get ADR's?

Thanks! :)

In order to watch wishes from the observation deck, you have to have an ADR for the California Grill. It is a little crowded, but it isn't unbearable in my opinion. The ADR demand does seem to pick up for times close to Wishes, but I, personally, haven't had a problem making them whenever calling with a decent amount of lead time. There is a gorgeous view from the dining room and if you tell the host/hostess that you don't mind waiting, you can get a table beside the window. Be warned though, that as wishes starts, people do sometimes crowd that area to get a good view of the show. As for price, I would recommend checking out the menu on AllEars.net: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_cg.htm The last few times that I have been there, dinner for two has been around $150 but we do enjoy wine and a couple cocktails. The menu should be able to give you a better idea of what it would cost for your party. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! It sounds very nice. Maybe a good night for just mom & dad (no kids) to enjoy alone! :)

Eating at the CG and then watching wishes was by far the best meal/dining experience of our trip. it was a very relaxing slow meal (about 2 hours) and our server was amazing. we had a ADR for 8pm but werent seated until 820, but no problem we had a drink at the bar. its a little noisy but it wasnt a problem. there are two observation decks so if you go out to watch the fireworks ask the server which is less crowded. i think you pass the restrooms to get to the less crowded deck. after watching the firworks we had our dessert to end our wonderful night. the fireworks are very romantic watching from the deck. Enjoy it!!

for the 2 of us it was about $150 but we were on DDP so we didnt mind.

I thought you could get to the observation deck regardless if you have ADR's for California Grill. We are eating at Chef Mickey's and were planning on staying to watch the fireworks. Can we do this? If not I guess we will go over to Poly and watch from the beach!

You can get on the 4th floor deck without an ADR, but to get to the 15th floor deck, an ADR or receipt for the California Grill is required.

You check in on the 2nd floor at the CG desk and someone will accompany you in the elevator to the 15th floor.

It is not 100% fool proof, however. We were there a couple weeks ago and we did see people "sneak" up the elevators. Not many though.

In my opinion, the view of Wishes from the Contemporary is really not that great. Yes, it is a unique view, but Wishes is really designed to be viewed from directly in front of the castle.

When you view it from the side, the high fireworks are significantly offset to the right of the castle and the low fireworks.

We have 7:10 ADRs for Chef Mickey's and Wishes starts at 10pm that night. Since we would get a 3-hour parking pass, do you think we will have any problems staying for Wishes since it is past the 3-hour mark?

The only place I have ever gotten a true "parking pass" was at AKL. I have never gotten one at the Contemporary or the Beach Club.

I have never seen anyone cruising the parking lot looking for expired passes.
