THE Conservative Thread: Country First!

Hello everyone! Former Democrat (now a Libertarian) and proud PUMA member here!! :)

I started out this election voting for Clinton in the primary, although now living in Florida, my vote didn't count for much anyway. When she dropped out (forced out in my opinion), I thought about voting for Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate but my concerns about Obama grew stronger and stronger. I decided to back McCain, if for no other reason that to stop Obama. The more I learned about McCain though, I began to respect him and I feel he is a very honorable person. Now that he has Sarah Palin by his side, I will enthusiastically support both of them.

I don't agree with them on all issues, and I'm far more conservative on fiscal issues than on social ones but all in all, I think he would make a great president. :)

My husband & I run a political blog and you're welcome to stop by and say hello if you'd like. The link is Left And Right Politics.

It's ironic because I think this country is ready for a black president, but sadly, that person is not Obama.

First, I don't believe Obama is a Muslim, and the birth certificate issue sounds like nonsense. However, it's the fact that the MSM will jump on an rumor started about Palin, but they won't investigate issues surrounding Ayers, Rezko, or his association with ACORN. They have shown their bias and I do believe it will backfire in the sense that they will no longer be considered reliable, and people will look outside of them for information. That in turn can lead to more questions, and for a lot of average people who don't want to work so hard at educating themselves, it all becomes very frustrating. I have found the whole situation with the MSM very disheartening. They are supposed to be the watchdog for ALL of the people, but now half of us don't trust them to report outside of their personal agendas. For all the whiners on the left about Fox News only representing the conservatives, I hear plenty of positive news from them about the left, as well as negative news about the right. Somehow it's gotten twisted to be a crime to show perspectives from all sides, and I just don't understand that attitude.

I thought it didn't matter if someone was born out of the country, as long as they were born to at least one US citizen.

I thought you had to be born on US soil or a military installation? Going to google now, although I do think he is a citizen. He'd have to be a certain kind of crazy to do all this for nothing.

What I think there should be answers to out there is Obama's mentor Frank Marshall Davis...

I don't know. I can see the gist of what he was saying, but as a christian - I would never refer to ownership of the muslim faith. And he said my muslim faith - as a christian, those words would never cross my mouth.

I'm not saying he's a muslim - just an interesting slip IMO, one not easily made by a devout christian.

See, that was exactly my thought too. I don't have a problem with Islam in general. Radical muslims, yes. Then again, I have a problem with the kind of radical Christians that would murder someone who performs abortions, etc., as well. So IMO, radicalism is the problem, not religion. But it isn't really a normal slip of the tongue to get your religion wrong. It seems (haven't seen it personally) that there is documentation that Obama was raised as a Muslim. Okay fine. So why not just say, "I was raised Muslim, but later converted to Christianity." What's the problem? It all just seems very strange to me, the way he is going at the issue. :confused3

My oh my! I check the headlines this evening and find out that...

BHO is down double digits
Olbermann and Matthews got canned for their liberal spewing :happytv:
BHO apparently left the membership of Trinity UCC and has embraced Islam :lmao:

Seriously, I suspect BHO's slip of the tongue was innocent. But it does show how innefectual he is as actually speaking. He knows that JM has flipped the script and now he doesn't know what to do next.
Also, for the leftist anchors at MSNBC, let's just say that it's a no-brainer for show runners at the network to know that very few peopel actually want to hear that nauseating liberal doggerel. Case closed. Maybe KO can kiss and make up with Dan Patrick, and they can get a gig on a college football highlight show on ESPN Ocho. :surfweb:

Welcome to a fellow Floridian! :wave

Hi Joanne.:) I agree completely.

What I think there should be answers to out there is Obama's mentor Frank Marshall Davis...

Absolutely. The influence that man had on Obama, I believe to be of a huge significance. I really don't understand what happened to all the investigative reporters that should be covering this story.

I don't think he was raised Muslim though. His mother was quite unorthidox in her views, and she did not have a faith. I don't think Obama took an interest in religion until he joined up with DCP, and then it was politically motivated, in my opinion. It was then that he came to Christ through Rev. Wright, and I suspect his relationship with Michelle may have strengthened his beliefs. He definitely has a unique story.

This is only for those born after November 14, 1986. If born prior to that date.. it depends on what the law was at the time of the birth. Evidently, the law changed several times during the twentieth century.

I agree with all three parts.

Welcome Joanne! Cool blog. Glanced at it for a few minutes, and will definitely check it out in more detail.:)

My sister and I were discussing Governor Palin's speech the morning after, and she said "Wouldn't you love to know what Barack and Michelle Obama were thinking and saying, as they watched that speech?". Yes, I'd give anything to have been a fly on that wall.
Thought that I would let you know that my vote is now 80% McCain and 20% Obama.......popcorn::
Doesn't that count as a "Present"? popcorn:: :rolleyes1 :cool2:

DH said The radio show mentioned a website with the court filings. I think it's something like obamacrimes in case anyone's interested. I'm too tired.

Nite all!
UMMMM what do you mean "Present"?:confused3 :)
Just a little humor based on how often Obama voted "Present".
