OMG!!!!!!!!!!! TEACHER UPDATE!!!!

Well...Mrs teacher called me around 10:30 and left an EXTREMELY condescending message on my cell phone saying "Mrs. S. This is Mrs. M. - I'm calling you about the massive distortions that have been said about me by your daughter yesterday. You can reach me for the next hour on my cell at --- --- ----". Okay - now my veins are throbbing.

Sooooo....I call Mrs. Teacher back and say "Hello Mrs. Teacher - I would be more than happy to discuss what was said yesterday - however...I'm getting the impression that you believe my DD lied about what she told us yesterday - did my dd not tell the truth about what you said?"

Holy smokes...the woman went off on me like a ticking time bomb!!! I couldn't even talk because she was screaming at me!

I basically said "Mrs M. This conversation is over. I'm coming over to the school to discuss this with you along with the principle. She screamed "FINE" and hung up on me. (veins really throbbing now!)

Well...when I got there - the principle and 2 guidance counselors had just finished questioning my dd about what this teacher said. My dd told them everything she said once more and even said they can even ask some of the other students what she said - they would tell them the same thing.

My dd went off to class and me, my dh (I told him to leave work and meet me there - I'm to much of a hothead), the teacher, the principle and 2 counselors were there.

Once there I asked her if she always calls the parents of students yelling condescending messages on their voicemails? She denied it - to which I opened my cell phone and replayed the message on speakerphone. BUSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!

The principle was NOT happy about that.

This teacher accused ME of ruining the relationship she has with my daughter! WTH??? She thinks she did NOTHING wrong. She said she teaches "facts". (veins throbbing so hard I'm near anurism"

My biggest problem is that this lunatic used 911 as her venue to spout what her "facts" are and to push her politics on the kids.

At one point my dh starting laughing because she was running on and on and on just spinning things and YES - she says my dd lied.

Make a long story longer - she finally appologized for screaming at me. She never apologized for calling my dd a liar.

My dd is a strong kid. She's honest and smart. I told this teacher I had no intensions of pulling her from her class and that she comes home and discusses everything that was taught in class with me and my dh and she needs to think about if what comes out of her mouth is exceptable from now on.

The teacher seemed very nervous around the principle by the time everything was done.

Once out in the parking lot - my dh turned to me and said "Since when are our public schools hiring CODE PINK to teach our kids?"

Oh DUH!!! I knew that, and I forgot. My friend (who is from Laguna Beach) loves to get to the Garlic Festival when she can, and I have one of the cookbooks from the festival that she bought me. Also drove through Gilroy on our way to Solvang (including day trip to the mouse) in July. Smelled like garlic, we noticed. I thought it was a perfectly pleasant smell to drive through...unlike the massive cattle ranch in (or near) Lodi that almost killed my poor sister. She literally had to pull out her oxygen tank.

Even a few bastions in Pierce and King. Don't forget, Enumclaw is King county, and Buckley, Graham, McKenna, Roy, etc. are all Pierce County. Those areas still have a lot of loggers, brush pickers, etc., and plenty who hunt for food. Gig Harbor, as yup as it has become, still has a solid old-time base of commercial fishermen too. Not that all of those people are necessarily Republican or right-leaning, but they do have a tendency to align themselves much more firmly with "hick hunters" than slick politicians.

I'm in Lakewood and there are some GOP supporters but Tacoma is by and large very liberal.

Transparant, I think you handled the situation extremely well. I'm glad your daughter's strong, because this teacher sounds like a nutcase.

You might want to rethink this strategy once she gets to high school though - I know I had teachers withold A's from me because of my conservative views. There was one English teacher in particular that was extremely liberal, but I never backed down .

Of course it didn't help that my Dad (the high school guidance counselor) would play the conservative devil's advocate to her left wing agenda in the teacher's lounge at lunchtime

We had this problem with my dd's first grade teacher - not nearly as bad as yours though. Conferences were right after the 2006 election. Well DD came home and said 'the teacher said to tell our parents to vote for Granholm (the D-governer). I was ticked. DH and I asked the teacher at the conference "Did you teach anything about the election during class" She immediately said "I only said non-partisian things." WTH she knew she was busted and tried to cover her butt, why else would she immediately come up with THAT answer. We knew better and asked her to keep her political OPINIONS to herself.

There is NO excuse for that.

If it makes you feel better my kids 8th grade SS teacher is a huge World War 2 fanatic and pushes patriotism to the point the kids want to hurl. He used yesterday as a tribute. I was really proud. Also they are going on a field trip to see Spirit of America today.

I like the way he teaches and doesn't place his political persuasion on the students and he encourages discussion. He is PRO-America. I am thinking he must be a Republican. This is a far cry from last years teacher that pretty much told my kid that Al Gore invented environmental consciousness.

I am guessing your going to be about 60 miles or so from it, I don't remeber ever picking up the smell that far away, and I have been though there at all times of the day in every weather condition you can imagine.

With no traffic you should be just about 90min from DL, but with traffic it could be a lot more.

Yeah, used to live there, moving back. I think I should just buy a plane and fly to DL.
Dh says we're going to buy annual passes and go at least once a month. If we do that I say we should go the night before and stay in a motel overnight. No morning commuter traffic! Yay!

I typically get up at 2am saturday and drive down, I am in the parking structure at 7:30 and in the park at opening. There is hardly ever any traffic on saturday at that time of the morning. Monday to friday is a much different situation though.

Haven't read all of the posts yet but wanted to say what I thought about the interview last night.

I definitely think Sarah held her own. Even when asked about the "Bush Doctrine". Some were saying on morning tv that the Bush Doctrine can mean a few things...........he wasn't being specific enough. But, even if she didn't know it, she answered the question well later.

What struck me as, well, wierd, is the body language from Charlie. Where Bill O'reilly was tough with BO, he was still respectful.......he didn't look down on BO and even at the end, had a good laugh with him. Someone on the morning news had a perfect description for Charlie, I thought..........prosecutory. Looking down from his glasses, treating her like a hostile witness.........trying to catch her in a "gotcha" moment. And that whole "hubris" moment........what? Is he asking BO that question? Is ANYBODY asking BO that question?

Now, let me also say, if that's what they are going to do, doesn't bother me. And Sarah can take it, as she showed us she can last night. But, I think it's going to make "them" look bad.

Do you think because everyone on the left heard that CG was going to get the first interview, and they said, oh, great, he's a puffball........he won't be a tough interview? So..........he went to the extreme and was condescending, even looked like a schoolmaster chewing out a student. I don't know what to make of it.......I've never seen an interview with Charlie that way. But boy, did Palin ever show she was decisive and quick. I don't know why I continue to put myself through the torture of The View, but I do. Anyway, this morning I was excited to see John & Cindy McCain. Elizabeth asked a question about if he wants roe v. wade overturned. When he commented that he will nominate judges who have a background of correctly interpruting the constitution, Whoppi had the gall to ask if that meant he thought she should be a slave? and then carried on about it fanning herself and acting all relieved when he said, no. I just thought that was realy low of her.
