The Conservative Thread: Back to Basics. Pass the Lasagna and Have a Flower!!

There are some who want to intimidate and shut down whoever disagrees with them.

i think the os board should use of-another-mind visiting as an opportunity to share their thoughts. i mean....they're all open minded, right? and they want us to feel enlightened, right? ;) instead they are instantly defensive and offensive. kool-aid drinkin' militia.

kinda weird, and probably i haven't looked in the exact right place, but i actually couldn't find the "negative political images" part in the guidelines.

It's only offensive if:

A) An OS doesn't like it
B) They can get a friendly mod to agree with them (not too hard to do lately)

kinda weird, and probably i haven't looked in the exact right place, but i actually couldn't find the "negative political images" part in the guidelines. so i wrote to ask where that is, 'cause i've probably missed a million other things i should know. http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm

thought about just adding that picture to my posts, but i feel like i'm in trouble and sitting in the corner as it is...:sad1:

Well, since they put this out in a thread (I didn't even know about it) she should not have gotten points. They should have just removed the siggy. The mods should have PM everyone about the rule change in the siggy, then everyone would have been informed and the points would have been justified. Just my opinion.

Well, now I'm confused. Can we post a picture of Obama with his foot in his mouth, if he makes a blunder? All these years of Bush pictures and Bush sayings on signatures, why now?

HOWEVER, make a commitment RIGHT NOW that you will NOT stand for political censorship in real life. This will be a MAJOR feature of the Obama presidency — the erosion of First Amendment rights. His presidency will be a failure, that's nearly a given, so he will have to use the powers of government to silence all opposition. STAND FIRM. We still have a Constitution (at least until Obama gets to make 3 Supreme Court appointments). Radical leftists like him DESPISE free speech. They really, truly DESPISE it. They will try to use the "offensive" argument — that all criticism of Obama is "offensive" or "racist" or "inciting." Do NOT give in to the fear and intimidation. It will be a long four years of trying to preserve the Constitution. Fight every single assault on it. It's no coincidence that the Obama stylized posters resemble the Che Guevara drawing. Obama draws from the exact same totalitarian ideology. All opposition is outlawed; all opponents are destroyed or imprisoned. Find your Constitution and hold it close. We're all gonna need it.

So true. If we all don't stand up, individually, and put enormous pressure on our Congressional representatives (who are up for reelection in two years) to avoid going down the road to socialism and the erosion of our rights, we're in big trouble.

Awww  . Don't feel that way. I'm sure you're not alone in having points. I thought your pic was funny!

Seriously though, our thread can be shut down, and we can't open another one. And that would be terrible. Some of them may be lurking and looking for a reason to see this happen. So let's try not to give them any reason to do that. :thumbsup2

We subscribe to Fusion (Glenn Beck's magazine) and it is always good for entertainment. Sadly, most of his satire is pretty well-rooted in truth.

I finished reading his book too- The Christmas Sweater. Excellent read, but be prepared with tissues. I am so disappointed we can't see the stage show, but I am going to his book signing when he is here in December.

I just finished The Christmas Sweater last night. It only took my two days as I couldn't put it down. I would grab it every time I had a free minute. I agree on the tissues as it is a bit of a tear-jerker at times. Our family is going to see the stage show version of it next month. I guess I will have to bring a jumbo box of Kleenex to it for everyone to share.:rotfl:

If you can't make it to the stage show, did you see that they are doing a simulcast of it to theaters on Dec 17 and 18? My wife and I went to his summer show and didn't take our son( just couldn't see paying for a gold circle seat if he wouldn't enjoy it). Well it turned out that he really wanted to go, so I took him to the simulcast showing in the theater. We had a great time, plus it was a lot cheaper!:rolleyes1

Here is the link for the ticket info:

THANK YOU!!!! seriously, if that is the guideline, it would be helpful to have it on the guideline page. Looks as though that happened pretty recently, so maybe they'll add it.

Thanks again.

Both campaigns have technically ended. The election is over. Therefore, ANY Obama artwork in their signatures is technically NOT "official" campaign materials.

How about removing ALL political materials from signatures? THAT is the fairest solution? And, we wouldn't have to worry about what is "offensive", etc.

i think it was a regular on the os thread who provided the link to the information about signatures, so there are people reading and participating here from that thread. i don't mind that at all....it is good to have a free exchange of different ideas. it would just be nice if we could all appreciate the humor in politics, regardless of the point of view.

for instance, prior to the election, a friend had forwarded a link to something i thought was HILARIOUS and very clever...it was an interactive "sara palin in the oval office" thing....you'd click around on different objects in the office, and you'd hear a sara impersonator saying things like, "gosh, where'd russia go", or click on the bridge sitting on the desk, and the car flies off onto the floor. i didn't find that offensive in the least; it was funny. wasn't my perspective on the r ticket, but it was really well done.

anyhoo...i'm glad to know where the guideline was that some of us had missed and i look forward to seeing it added to the official guideline page.

here it is. i guess they'll be updating it periodically...the current one is just o as president, but it isn't interactive yet...just plays the "yes we can" song incessantly.

Afternoon everybody:wave:

So how goes it?

I don't mind talking with some of them either. Some are really cool. Some do want to cause problems for us though.

I don't mind funny political stuff either. I saw a Prez Bush picture one that I thought was hilarious. Some may not think it's funny though. :confused3 I saw the SP one, too.

Did you read Mark Styne's book, America Alone? Excellent book.

Yes, I read it. I love Mark Steyn. He's brilliant. The book, however, scared the crap out of me and made me so darn sad. I'm sending both of my children to Europe in the next 3 or so years, because I don't think it'll be there much longer and I want them to see what it once was, before religious fanaticism destroyed it. In particular, I want them to see the Vatican and all of the beautiful art work, because those will be the first things destroyed just like the beautiful, magnificant Buddhist sculptures in Afghanistan that were destroyed by the Taliban (here's a link: http://middleeast.about.com/od/afghanista1/a/me080910.htm).

You know, civilizations come and go, we've all learned about that in history, but I think we're going to watch one of the greats — Western Europe — disappear right before our eyes. Europe won't "hate America" then; they'll be begging for our help. But it will be too late.

Yes, this thread is being "monitored," with the express purpose to shut it down. Think about that for a minute.…Let it really get into your consciousness.…Again, the owners of this site are free to ban whatever they like, but just know that there are people in this country who genuinely believe that silencing their political opposition is a laudable goal. Think about that. Just think about it for a moment. I have never once in my entire life tried to silence someone because of their OPINION about a political or controversial issue or a politician. Never once. I am simply genetically unable to do that. Free speech is the most crucial liberty in order for a society to be free, and it isn't always polite and it isn't always tolerant, because those terms can be defined and redefined to suit one's political preferences. Speech is simply FREE. And yet there are some who would like to tell us that some speech is less free than others. I find it just stunning. Thank God for the U.S. Constitution, and those marvelous little words preceding the First Amendment "Congress shall make NO laws…" Imagine if it said "Congress should be careful which laws it makes…" Lord would we ever be in a world of hurt. But, thankfully, our brilliant forefathers made it utterly unambiguous. Even an Obama-appointed Supreme Court is going to have a hard time getting around that.

yeah...i don't understand this "if you don't affirm my own beliefs, then you'll need to be vaporized" thing....

the political images and sites intended to be amusing...i appreciate the irony in most and the effort put into others. gotta laugh or what's the point in any of it?

I think we're more accustomed to rolling with the abuse heaped on our guys and our side of the political spectrum. Give 'em a couple of years, and they'll be used to it, too. Something tells me they're gonna have to get used to it "real good" and real quick! ;)
