The Conservative Thread: Back to Basics. Pass the Lasagna and Have a Flower!!

I just read the response about the Gitmo detainees being sent to other prisons around the US. Does this sound like a really bad idea to anyone else? I mean wouldn' that be a perfect breeding ground for recruitment of other disgruntled and anti-social individuals for terrorists, giving the terrorists even more access to infiltrating our society.

Yup. Pretty darn scary. Oh, and they'll be yet another reason for why Obama will have to increase, instead of decrease, our taxes: someone's gotta pay for their cable and all the perks that seem to come in jails these days.
(what ever happened to the good 'ol chain gang days when it was a punishment to be in jail instead of a luxury?)

Thanks. I enjoyed this story very much.

I have one of my own I would like to share. A true story.

Awesome story Mr. Man. :thumbsup2

The only game I play was the Sims, then the Sims 2, and I can't wait until Feb when Sims 3 comes out.

February! :scared1: I haven't been paying attention. I have to buy a new computer each time they release a new game. Guess that I better start saving.

Listening to  Sean  today -- he read an article of the left demonizing Conservative Talk Radio, calling it hate speech. That's how I think the general public might be swayed to think the FD would be a good thing. And it does sound really benevolent right now -- giving each side a fair shake, right?!?!? How could someone be opposed to this? Only evil conservatives could ever be opposed to this ... :sad2:

:lmao: We're the hateful ones? :lmao: If they pass the FD than they better apply it to the liberal media outlets (which they won't). CNN would officially tank if they ever had to play "fair". I don't think that word is in their vocabulary.

Seriously, the only reason a liberal would find this to be "fair" is because the way it works it won't affect any of the liberal media outlets. Only the conservative talk shows would be affected by this. For some crazy reason I don't find banishing conservative talk radio but leaving liberal media outlets alone at all fair.

I read something that this could be applied to Christian radio stations? Particularly the ones that are commercially funded? Does anyone know about this?

I don't know how they could get away with this. Christian radio is a genre… just like the Top 40 stations and the rap stations and the country stations. Different stations are comprised of different genres of music. To banish one you'd have to banish all of them in order to be fair.

i love sean too....i'll probably hear this discussion on my way home tonight. thanks for pointing that out.

it is sooooo bizarre what is considered "hate" these days. i guess it is anything the ruler says it is.

As the preacher of my church recently said of our society: what's right is wrong and what's wrong is right.

Interesting article regarding the make-up of President elect Obama's transition team advisors.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122654867683123733.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

I am not very critical of the team make-up other than the general observation that his use of former lobbyists or those who worked for lobby firms (6 out of the 19 named) is not consistent with his pledge to curtail the use of lobbyists in his administration.

Although, as with any situation where there is a gap between what he says and what he does, I am sure it will somehow be because Bush made him do it or our simple minds just cannot grasp the transcendental nuancity (I just made up a word) of his noble intent.

(hehe being sarcastic is fun hehe)

He's proving himself over and over as being a "do as I say not say as I do" type of person. His only interest is in himself.

I'm here and need to catch up, but first had to share this. Bill Ayers is being a chatty Cathy now. And oh gee whiz... in a re-release of his 2001 book, he has added an afterword in which he admits he and Obama were family friends, and that he held the initial fundraiser for Obama. Of course, he says he never said that about they should've set more bombs (bull! ) and that the Republicans essentially manipulated his connection to Obama into something bad.

"Ayers, a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, adds few new details about his relationship with Obama in the afterword to Fugitive Days: Memoirs of an Anti-War Activist. The book is being reissued this month.

“We had served together on the board of a foundation, knew one another as neighbors and family friends, held an initial fund-raiser at my house, where I’d made a small donation to his earliest political campaign,” he writes."

So, who besides me is thinking "We told you so!" right now in regards to all the people who adamantly told us they weren't friends and he didn't hold the initial event for Obama? :rolleyes1

I've been screaming since the primaries that the OS are fools to not believe the truth about Obama - to not believe how his utter lack of morals and his 'will do anything to climb the political ladder' attitude allowed him to knowingly and willingly use an unrepentant terrorist to further climb his political ladder. Obama is a user and he'll use anyone that will help him out.

Then he throws them under the bus. Sadly, they come crawling back and beg for more from him. Pretty pathetic.

The OS simply don't care. They think that as long as someone with a 'D' attached to their name presides inside the White House all of their worries and problems will fade away.

I peeked at the Great Depression II thread (or whatever it's titled) earlier today. Someone commented that they needed to board their cat over the Christmas holidays and there were plenty of bookings. Then, as soon as the election results came out, people began making bookings left and right. I guess since "The One" is elected into office they believe the economy will begin to climb. They are fools if they don't realize that Obama is the one who will finish tanking our economy, create more job losses, create higher taxes and make it hard for people who were living within their means just a year ago to make it from paycheck to paycheck.

Fair? They don't want fair. They want to silence opposition.

As for buying a new pc, I think we're getting one for Christmas. Our current one has a bad motherboard and it's just too pricey to keep having to get it diagnosed and they come back with 'nothing's wrong'. :headache:

Hid away until after he won, just like jeremiah wright.

There may be some OS who aren't totally brainwashed and might soon snap out of it. Of course, too late to do anything now.

I can't see any DIS OS snapping out of it anytime soon. I believe the Kool Aid has done permanant brain damage.

Ugh - totally off topic.

I'm a direct sales rep for a home party company. Today they declared chapter 11. They were very positive about it and claim that it will strengthen the company.

I sent out an email to my customers and a few of them are furious as they need supplies to finish their projects OR they just bought things from me. I had no idea it was coming.

The company isn't closing down - it's for bankruptcy protection and they are confident that things are only going to go up from here, but I didn't feel right in my own mind to withhold that info from my clients. I'm thinking I may have done the wrong thing.

Darn it all.

Okay, back to your normal Conservative thread (and food too).

Im sorry to hear that:guilty:

Anyone see Bush's speech this afternoon? He spoke on free trade and how it wasn't responsible for our economic woes. The market was down a couple hundred before the speech. As he spoke, it took a sharp turn upward. Think it proves...a lot of the problem is fear. They were saying all Bo had to do was say "I'm not going to raise the capital gains tax" and the market would stop it's nosedive.

Ward, I'm going to go a long way out on a shaky limb and guess that the Fairness Doctrine will not be revived. It would seem to be too much of a hot button issue that opponents could jump all over in the next election. Republican ads would practically write themselves if the clowns we just elected revived the FD.

I heard Dick Morris on this today. It doesn't have to go to congress for a vote. There is a committee...appointed by BO....three dems and two republicans. It's a simple up or down vote.

Oh that's terrible. Personally on disclosing the info to clients, I think its a case of danged if you so and danged if you don't. I do hope that it pulls through.

Really? Darn it all - that's scary.

Okay, on a lighter note, most if not all of you have a signature and avatar and I don't. I'm thinking I need both.

Any suggestions?

Why do i get the impression that BO plans on conducting a lot of the country's business this way in the next 4 yrs.

Uhhh... because he wants to be a dictator rather than a President? :confused3

MM - do you have a favorite character? I put my in my aviator from a photo I took at the castle hub one time.

Mike Pence, congressman from IN, is working a Broadcaster Freedom Act [which Dick Morris didn't mention today] to make it so that the FD would have to go to congress for a vote. I'm not sure what the status of it is or if it would get a lot of support from moderate dems.

But, if your company isn't closing, can't your customers still get their supplies? [not sure how all of that works]

Just popping back in, still need to catch up on posts.

Debbie and blestmom and others: Did y'all figure out how to get Subsonicradio working yet? I'll try to give walk-through instructions if you still need them.
