thanks you guys! I might eat us out of house and home tonight.. and trust me I DO NOT need any extra, but so far I haven't killed anyone.

Phew! I've been gone all day. Oldest DD had ballet rehearsal for the Nutcracker, youngest DD had choir rehearsal for the Christmas concert, and youngest DS had play practice for the church Christmas play. Of course, they were in three different places, all at the same time. That was fun...:drive:

ugh....it's Christmas already!??!?! I'm so not ready for that, yet.

But you go, Oh omnipresent one!

Is it still snowing in AK?

With all of the talk about how bad the economy is, you couldn't tell from the crowds at the mall tonight. We went to see Madagascar 2 and even had a hard time finding a parking spot. Plus it seemed that almost everyone had a shopping bag or two. It looked like some people were doing their best to help out the retailers.:goodvibes

I have been saying the same for the last month. Costco and Sam's were both busy today....Best Buy yesterday. I think it may be a regional.:confused3 I'll bet sales on large tickets items are way down.

I found some.. hope you find some too! Maybe lots of people could find some lasagna!

The world would be a better place with lasagna!

People will always go out to eat, even when money is tight. Further, people have been trained to run up their credit card debt. This last quarter will be good for the economy but cruel for consumers. The public is conditioned to overspend for Christmas, but that debt they'll be running up will bite them in 2009.

I bet your right. The people I saw may not be buying cars but they sure were spending a crapload of money at Starbucks!:rotfl:

Hi, joined in pre election days and really enjoyed being here. Had a great time watching the debates with you all, have found you guys three thread later:banana:. Tried to read all I missed Election night and prior but could not catch up the pages kept growing. Just know I enjoyed being here and locally I'm very involved so the month pre Nov 4th was crazy, want to catch up and stay with others that share my point of view and of course serve food:thumbsup2.

'm thinking no to Huckabee.. what about Rudy?

Btw, please send happy thoughts my way. In the middle of unemployment I decided that I need to once and for all quit smoking. Mind you, if I was working, I'd be smoking almost nothing because I didnt on the way to work, or at work. Now, I'm smoking way too much.

I quit at 1:00 today on the way to hockey.

(yeah, I know I don't fit the profile... blame DH!) (Then again, DH quit two years ago!)

:cool1: You go Hockey Mom!!!!! I 'don't fit the profile' but haven't done it yet, I know I need to so I can use someone to look up to!

Good luck #1, I'll say a prayer for you. DH is using Chantix to stop. He's been taking it for almost a month now and it's working. He was very crabby during the first week, but he's mellowed out lately.

I told him he had to stop by the time we go to WDW because there's no way I'm standing around in a smoking area burning up my valuable WDW time on his addiction.

Thought about that, how is it??? Here for some a wonder drug, I know I'm not that discipline and need a helping hand.

I'm not necessarily thinking a candidate, I'm mainly thinking about a campaign. Again, I don't want to say what I think because it's based on my interpretation of the situation and not hard facts. I didn't appreciate Mitt getting trashed for no reason, so I don't want to say what I think, needlessly accusing an innocent group, and then be wrong.

I will say my suspicions are based on stuff that happened earlier this year. Romney is a Mormon, as most people know. Well, there were anti-Mormon robo calls put out in Iowa to try to destroy him amongst Christians. I have no clue for sure who was behind those calls to this day. But I do know that there were certain people from another campaign who ran around saying Romney himself was the one putting negative ads out about Mormonism to head-fake people into believing an opponent was doing it. :lmao: Now, does that logically make any sense? Does anyone believe the average politician or campaign as a whole is clever and quiet enough to pull something like that off, all the while knowing it could very well backfire?

I personally have no doubt the trash itself is coming from McCain's people. Typical RINO behavior, stab the conservative in the back. But I think there is another faction supporting the nonsense, pushing it along, and blaming it on Mitt. Whether their candidate is involved or not, I am skeptical. But I am highly suspicious of this person's advisors and staff.

Have to say, not sure it's really coming from the McCain camp. Either way, if you can't come out and state who you are it's just trash talk, just another tabloid mag cover.

ITA, AP -- Yay - Hockeymom - good for you. A man at church whom I deeply respect and admire quit smoking 40-50 years ago. He still says it was the hardest thing he's ever done. When you want to light up, chat with us - we're always good for a nicotine high!

And AP -- I am soooooo sorry about your dad -- what a horrible week/month you have had on so many levels. I will pray for you, your family -- I am sooo sorry....

Ditto, AP sorry to hear what you are going through.

The people I saw may not be buying cars but they sure were spending a crapload of money at Starbucks!:rotfl:

LOL! My daughter just treated me today to a light caramel frappuccino from Starbucks today with her babysitting money. MMmmmm...................:goodvibes

Thanks again everyone for you kind words, thoughts and prayers. Means a lot to me. I think you're all a fine bunch!! :grouphug:

Transparant....:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

My thoughts on Palin are that she should continue as Govenor, and then be put in a high level position in the next Republican administration. From there it can be determined if she would make a good candidate.

I wouldn't mind that either.

And Blestmom, you're right. Four years is a long time..........anything could happen. Remember two years ago everyone thought Hillary was a shoe-in. I don't think I've ever witnessed anything in politics like I have in the past 18 months.

OMG you guys talk a lot. 62 pages, I'm not even going to try to read it all.

All I'm going to say is :

Conservatives, I couldn't agree with you more!

OS, you have your own thread, please go there.

:rotfl2: Ok, I'm officially caught up now. :teeth:

Hi wardfamily!! :yay: It's so nice to chat with you again. :)

I feel better finding this thread and knowing there are Americans with my same views and concerns for our future! I voted for McCain and I am very upset and depressed over the outcome of this election. I will not watch the news nor do I have any respect for the media in their role in helping BO get elected.

Welcome Barb.......by chance are you my aunt from Tampa? :) Just wondering.

IMO, we need to keep an eye on who these clowns go to work for, and then we need to make it clear to that GOPer that we do not approve of them being hired at all. And this is not for the sake of payback, this is to ensure they don't pull this crud with a GOP candidate ever again. I'm tired of us being hurt from within by people who have no business being in the party to begin with.

ITA! As they say, "we know where you live". :rotfl:

Hey guys...I hardly visit the DIS these days...but wanted to pop in and say hi to my conservative friends. I'm feeling your pain guys. 1/20/13 will be the end of an ERROR.

Hi transparant............miss chatting with you, too. I need to visit here less often also........my house is a wreck again. Oy!

Are you kidding me? Nagin in charge of FEMA, Governor Jennifer on the economic transition team???? Let me guess....Bill Ayers will be the new head of Homeland security:( :scared1:

:rotfl: :rotfl: you guys are cracking me today.

A little follow-up to my last post about the Palin smears that were supposedly coming from Romney's camp, but apparently weren't. I've been doing some reading, and I think I have a decent idea of what's actually going on here. The answer was sitting in front of my nose the whole time based on stuff that's happened in the past, but I didn't put 2 and 2 together until now.

I'm not one to start rumors, so I won't say what/who I think is behind this. But I will say this. You have to ask yourself: Who within the GOP would have something to gain by trying to 1. Damage Sarah Palin beyond national repair and 2. Conveniently blame it all on Mitt Romney, thus finishing him off with the base? Figure out the answer to that, and you can probably figure out what direction(s) this junk is actually coming from.

Welcome! Looking forward to chatting with you in the months ahead. We have lots of fun here! :wizard:

Holy crud! Say it ain't so........Huckebee??

I'm thinking Huckabee, but I disagree.

I don't think so either. I just can't believe he would do that. He came to her defense many times.

'm thinking no to Huckabee.. what about Rudy?

Good for you, Hockeymom...........just think of all that money you will save and be able to spend at Disney. I'm pulling for ya, girl!!

ohhhhhhhh.......maybe the "no on prop 8" campaigners?

edit: as usual perhaps i went down the wrong path, but it would knock out two conservative hopefuls, and the mormons did put an awful lot of money into the campaign.

k...i give up...can you tell us? in super secret squirrel code or something?

:rotfl: :rotfl:

he was my initial guess though -- but I just can't see him doing it. :confused3

Tons of prayers coming to you. Hockeymom - please quit -- your family needs you much to much. I smoked in college but quit cold turkey many many many years ago. My DH smoked and had unsuccessfully tried to quit for 6 years. One day this August, I received the phone call from my sister than my Dad had lung cancer. By the time, he was diagnosed it had spread to his liver and his brain. Yesterday, they moved my dad to long term hospice and the doctor told my sister to start making funeral arrangements. On that same day in August, my DH's sister called him. His grandmother was diagnosed with dementia and has to be placed in a nursing home. Her doctor said it was a combination of smoking and diabetes. My husband quit smoking that day. Cold turkey. Please, I am praying for you, quit- - too many people love you.

AP, I'm so sorry. I watched my father die of emphysema after smoking from age 13 to age 63. He died at age 68. Way too young. My mother died last year at 77. My mother had everything wrong with her but complicating matters was her smoking "a little bit" from age 30 to age 50. There are 16 other members of my family and you couldn't get one of us to take one puff on a cigarette.

Now, what we have to work on (some of us) is our weight. I have a terrible struggle with my weight. Making matters more difficult for me is I'm hypothyroid. Fun, fun. I try to low carb cause my doctor wants me to, and I want to but it's so hard. I feel great when I do, though.

I'm so sorry for what your family is going through. It's tough. I tell my sisters this getting older stuff really stinks sometimes. I watched my parents go through it with their parents.........I guess now it's our turn. But boy, I can't tell you how much I miss them. I physically ache sometimes for them. Your family will be in my prayers..........:grouphug:
