Did anyone ever see this show? It was on in the summer of 2005 on HBO and only lasted 13 episodes. It's being rerun right now on The Sundance Channel.

The premise is that it is the footage from a reality show about an actress, Valerie Cherish (Lisa Kudrow) who is making her comeback on a sitcom called "Room & Bored." A much better explanation is here:

I think it's very funny, in a dark kind of way. One of the most ironic things is that Lisa Kudrow plays a 40-something landlady to four 20-somethings (2 guys, 2 girls) who live in the same building (add 1 more guy and 1 more girl and you have "Friends"!). And she's a has-been to these young kids.

Has anyone else ever seen it? What did you think?

I didnt see it when it first ran but I am trying to catch up on the shows now. I love it. I need to find somewhere that has a list and a little update on what each episode was about. I know Ive missed a few and want to see what they are.

I can't seem to find one. I did find the complete series on
DVD on Ebay for $4.99. It has commentary on it by Lisa Kudrow and a co-writer.

I just realized that I also loved "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" with Matthew Perry, and that one only ran 6 episodes. And thus began my love affair with Aaron Sorkin.

I watched it when it first aired on HBO ... it took me a little while to get used to because it kept making me feel so bad for poor "Valerie Cherish", but I did end up getting hooked and watched the entire season ... I was kind of surprised that HBO didn't give it a 2nd season ...

I gotta see if I can catch this somewhere, I dont get Sundance, ill have to see if i can find it on netflix, I love Lisa Kudrow.

I watched it the first time around on HBO and enjoyed it a lot. I was really disappointed that they didn't give it more of a chance.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip ran a full season (22 episodes I think). Matthew was great on the show. I had hoped that we would see more of Lauren Graham when she did her episode, but we didn't.

I have not seen the Comeback, but I like Lisa Kudrow.

I win the "Duh!" award -- I had bought the boxed DVD set of "Studio 60" and it had 6 discs. I thought that meant -- 6 episodes.

My memory is going because I did watch Studio 60, but I don't remember watching 22 episodes.

As for "The Comeback", 12 out of the 13 episodes have been aired on Sundance, and I'll be sorry to see it go. I love Lisa Kudrow's performance -- you think Valerie Cherish doesn't have a clue, but by the 12th episode, you realize she does! I also love Mickey, her hairdresser.

That's what I appreciated about her performance also. At first, she seemed like a desperate one dimensional character. But after watching several episodes you realized there was depth to her character. She really gave the character life with the most subtle of facial expressions.

We watched it about two years ago. We got it from NetFlix. We thought it was hysterical, but we are kind of twisted and strange :rotfl:

Exactly!

BTW, for you Twilight fans, Kellan Lutz is in it. (And yes, I just connected why "that name" sounds familiar).

I was/am very impressed with Lisa Kudrow; I never really payed attention to her acting on "Friends". In "The Comeback", you first think she's a flake, but by the end, you realize she was just letting things roll off her back. Valerie did what she thought she had to do to get even a small part in a lame sitcom. It reminds me of "The D List", but a much more subtle performance. Great nuanced acting on Lisa's part.

I didn't know Lisa was in Easy A. Does she play a teacher? She was a sarcastic teacher in The Opposite of Sex.

She played a guidance counselor with "issues". The movie was really good - reminded me of some of the better 80's teen comedies.
