River: River smiled, but then her smile faded as she said "yeah, she been through a lot", "more than you know" she added in a low voice.

Daniel: "I bet the kid has had a bad life," he murmured back. He'd been suspecting something was off for a while, he was pretty sure a couple kids had pasts, but he knew Max had to be one of them. 'I've been thinking it for a while," he admitted.

River: River looked down worried "well, you don't have to think it any longer, because, well, it's true." then she added out of place "I need to talk to you later."

Daniel: Daniel blinked, clearly looking confused. "Well, all right." Then he smiled and pulled her off to the kitchen to eat.

Max: Max got a plate, a couple of doughnuts, smiled and walked out of the kitchen. She sat down and started eating happily.

River: 'shoot' River thought 'so much for the speech I planned to lead with'. She wished she had waited longer but it was too late now. She looked down at her plate trying to eat some.

River: river smiled at Daniel and Max "well, time to eat I guess" she said, the excitement of the announcement still in her voice.

Toby: Toby looked at Alex and smiled slightly. He waited for her to move before following her, he didn't want to be alone. He thought if he was, he would be approached, since they didn't know Alex knew they wouldn't say anything if she was with him he figured.

Alex: Alex grinned still ecstatic about the trip and quickly made her way out to the kitchen. "Thanks Professor!" She said happily before chuckling and walking with Toby.

Jack: Jack grinned and left for the kitchen. He chuckled at Alex as he heard her and shook her head.

Professor Collins: Professor Collins said you're welcome to everyone who thanked her. "We are having school today, so when you're done eating, go to the classroom and get out your history textbooks. We're going to start the revolutionary war today." Professor Collins then got some doughnuts herself.

Max: Max ate her doughnuts appreciatively. She really didn't feel like going to class today, but at least there was doughnuts.

Daniel: Daniel ate his breakfast, mildly curious as to what River was intending to tell him.

Alex: Alex walked into the kitchen and grabbed herself a doughnut and Toby one. Taking a bite of hers, she handed Toby his with a closed mouth smile.

Toby: "thanks" Toby said taking the doughnut from Alex.

Professor Collins: Professor Collins said you're welcome to everyone who thanked her. "We are having school today, so when you're done eating, go to the classroom and get out your history textbooks. We're going to start the revolutionary war today." Professor Collins then got some doughnuts herself.

Max: Max ate her doughnuts appreciatively. She really didn't feel like going to class today, but at least there was doughnuts.

Daniel: Daniel ate his breakfast, mildly curious as to what River was intending to tell him.

River: River looked up at the professor as she made her announcement then looking around and seeing that there was no one else withing hearing distance she looked up at Daniel. "I don't want to wait until after class to tell you this" she said, then she started quietly "It's about Max. Well, I guess I start at the beginning. The first night here, I woke up in the middle of the night, and Max wasn't there. I went to one of the restrooms and found Max, um cutting herself. With a razor. She took a picture and emailed to her dad. I guess it was a punishment for misbehaving in class. She told me about how keeping it a secret was best and I promised her that I would. And there weren't any other problems. I thought it passed, then yesterday I guess Toby caught her cutting her arm with a rock after parents night because she was upset about her dad leaving. I know its completely wrong, and that her father should not punish her the way he does. But I also know that for Max keeping it hidden is best, and that she only has a few more years before she can be on her own. But now Toby knows, and I guess he plans on telling the professor. But he can't! And I don't know how to convince him not to" she continued. "that's everything" she said taking a deep breath "Please don't be mad at me, I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier."

Toby: Toby watched Max wandering, he wondered if she was thinking about him and his decision. This made him nervous.

Max: Her gaze sweeping the room, she replied, "I'll be all right."
