The Cheerleaders' Thread

Haters gonna hate, but cheerleding is awesome and is a sport. It's also classified as the most dangerous sport. Just talk about anything having to do with cheer. Competitions, cheers, tips, etc. :)

and i called you on it. i wasen't rude at all. your entitled to the way you think and so am i. had you not said cheerleading is a sport i would not have commented. and i wasen't rude at all.

I know. But, I bet Hannah and Sara are gonna agree with this too, if you wanna say your opinions that's fine with me. I totally understand. But could you please do it somewhere else? I really don't mind if you have your opinions, but just don't say them here. Sorry, if I was rude, I tried to say it in the nicest way possible.

I second this! Everyone DOES have their own right to their opinion, and disagreements on subjects, in this case cheerleading. We respect your opinion, but would rather not hear about your dislike of cheerleading. Thanks!

no more comments and i will post no more. by the way i meant it when i said the cheerleaders probably are in better condition then some of the players out there. and it is very dangerous the flips in the air and other moves. have a great night.

Yep cheerleader here!

Welcome! So, do you do competitions orcheer for your school, or both? :):cheer2:

I used to cheer when I was in gymnastics since we could do the all star team at our gym. It was alot of fun! The high school cheerleaders at my school don't have the best reputation there used to be like 4 cheer gyms in like a 20 mile radius of me but they all closed so now the closest is like 50 miles away so that's not really much of an option with my schedule. I danced until I broke my tibia and tore a tendon in my knee this summer and now I'm on the red shirt list. Though I left my studio recently and once
I have surgery I'm going to a new studio in the area which has acro and tumbling also(they were on Americas got Talent last season and made it to Vegas for there acro) which I'm really excited about since I havent tumbled any at the studio I was at.

Here are some pics of my squad:
Me in the air and doing a scorpion!

what's the name of the cheerleading leauge. i can't find a listing for it..when are your games ? do you play in front of crowds of 5-10000 people.?

not a sport at all. yes it may be dangerous but so is putting on nail polish. cheerleading is cheesecake and nothing more. if it wasen't for the mens teams you wouldn't be there.

sorry this thread has been done before. but i couldn't resist. by the way when i go out to watch mens college basketball i wish the cheerleaders would just sit down and not take away from the flow of the game. i watch syracuse university basketball on espn and have to say i have never seen there cheerleaders (thank goodness).

guys view cheerleaders as cheesecake and nothing more. not a sport not even close. now this post should get the blood flowing. i think that's why you posted this.

There are three different types of cheerleading: School (Middle, High, and College), Association (Pop Warner), and All-Star or competitive. Each has their own governing body: National Cheerleading Association (NCA) for High School; The United States All-Star Federation (USASF) and the International All-Star Federation (IASF) for All-Star cheerleaders. USA Cheer is the national governing body (NGB) for all forms of cheerleading.

Cheerleading is in fact dangerous as it counts for 66.7% of all female catastrophic sports injuries. Cheerleaders have games they cheer at but also have competitions that they compete in. In competition, cheerleading is a sport as they are competing for a trophy and the ability to call themselves champions. Competitions are televised on ESPN and watched by thousands at home and at the competitions.

Cheerleaders cheer not only at mens games but also women's games too.

For the cheerleaders, this is their dream, their goal, what they strive for, what they live for. Cheerleading is their sport.

*claps* ::yes::

You said that perfectly, and I cannot agree more.

I found that pretty inspiring, coming from a non cheerleader. (I guess) :thumbsup2

That's me before I left for practice. Our bows are so big, we have silver ones just like it. (:

But I like the blue ones because they remind me of the Yankees(:

All of our bows are big! So, I guess you wear yours like I do? My squad has a zebra bow, which I like, but we never wear them. :(

That's what we call our bows, too! What would a cheerleader be without a bow, right? So are your uniforms blue and white?

I've never cheered before. I tried out,I failed. Never went back to try again. Got more interested in band. (:

And I feel sorry for the poor little cheerleaders cheering in the cold around the fall at football games, wearing a coat with a skirt underneath.

Our uniforms are orange and white.(one of them has North Carolina blue in it, so that should make you happy! :P) I just got a new uniform, that is really awesome, but we were going to take a trip to WDW instead, which wouldve been soo much more awesome!

Have have a pep rally on Tuesday! I am kinda excited, but a part of me isn't. Our students boo us...... We are a pretty good cheer squad, so that's not it. They just don't like being there! It is kinda embarassing......
I feel bad because I don't really like doing pep rallies anymore.
