I was never told of an option of taking the thing out of her mouth...I was just told it had to be in place and would be removed in 6-8 months...she talked funny, choked often , and hated every second of it...so imagine trying to turn the stupid thing IN the mouth

she still has tracks on the teeth but...those come out this spring I think...2 kids, 2 sets of braces back to back...I could have purchased a small car....infact my oldest DS was mad as heck and told the other 2, now my car won't be what I want...THANKS TO THOSE TEETH

wait, mine was cemented in my mouth too.

Seriously??? Man, I've never heard of that. Maybe the option of doing it in a "retainer" removable way is the newish part. Good grief, I can't imagine trying to do that from within the mouth! I haven't really even figured out how to do it within my hand! I watched the orthodontist do it, but he did it so fast I didn't really see the hole, or pay attention to which direction to crank.

Yeah, my mom pasted a photo of me up at her desk at work. It was taken the day the braces were finally removed, and I had the biggest, cheesiest grin. Under it she wrote, "The $2500 Smile".

theirs were almost $5000.00 each!!!! at the time our dental was terrible....

I'll have to take a better look at DS' device the next time I get the chance. But it doesn't have anything that goes around the front of a tooth, which surprised me; it has little wire loops that fit between the teeth. And the roof-of-the-mouth piece is very thick, so it's really difficult to talk.

I sent an email to his teacher last night, explaining why he might be reluctant to talk much today. She replied back and said she'd wait for him to speak; she said he's been contributing a lot to class discussions lately, especially in math.

we have been having these little tiffs over how many points to buy...I REFUSE TO FINANCE them...I say we should buy a smaller thing, pay cash, add to it when we have extra.., we will then still get the perks, and if we want to go more we use his airline discount...which by the was is about the same price...so really all we are going to be doing is getting perks....

we also looked into resale, there are some very good deals..

My friend is going to look over the contracts and make sure we know what we are getting into..if all is ok, we set up a date and go back down, or we can sign them and send them on their way...but we choose to go back you know an excuse to return for a weekend

I did find out one thing, it IS NOT tax deductable...only if you take out a loan on your house..NOPE..refuse to...
