The Castle's Mirror is up!

Eesh. I liked the gold accents, but I too have an unfavorable vote for the mirror. I understand how they want to make things special for the 50th, but the castle really stands on its own! They don't need to gaud it up like a Vegas hotel.

OK< I hate to admit it, but maybe it does look better than the toilet paper!

Why do they have to put a mirror there? Castles don't have big mirror on them. This is not a "Snow White" castle!!! We need to take that mirror down. I love the castle just the way it was...beautiful...without the mirror!

To respond to someone else who asked: I think the mirror changes images to the other castles of the WDW parks.

I'm wondering if it is illuminated at night.


I think from this picture it definately look disproportionately big on the castle but at night if illuminated may look very cool.

Also, to someone else's question: It will stay up for 18 months starting in May.

The gold spires are great, I'm ok with the character statues, but that mirror is tacky. But, as other posters have pointed out - at least it's not the giant cake and bright pink.

I'd bet they made it so big so that they could put things IN the mirror - as the person said above, showing the other castles - or using it for Wishes or whatever.

Which would be WAAAY cool!

Ohhh, the mirror is too big! Does it really need to be that big to show whatever it is going to show?? I really love the gold spires and swags, but this detracts from that beauty somehow. Oh, well, I'll check it out in person pretty soon.

ok, if it is up for 18 months that means it is coming down the END of November.. right? SO if we go December 1-8th like we planned the castle will be under construction again right? UGH we could not get to on our trip in February because of putting this up and we not get to it again.. I will move my dates if I need to does anyone know for sure when they are doing this?

I dont know how long it will take them to bring it down, probably not long, but, I do know it's up for 18 months, as I read last night. So, you may want to plan accordingly.

It's my understanding that the display is supposed to change 5 times a day showing views from each of the 5 Disney castles (DL, MK, Euro, Tokyo and Hong Kong). I don't know if it's actual video feed/photos or a drawing/artist rendering.

Okay....I *think* I like it. I definately like the gold on the spires and the characters, but I am not so sure about the mirror. It is certainly okay for temporary...I like the gold so much, though, it can stay forever!

Edited to add: Much better than the cake....much!

I love the mirror, but SORRY the cake was great, I preferred it that way to the normal way.

Safetymom has pictures of the cake castle. Look back on this thread and you'll see where she posted maybe a page or two ago, and look at her top link in her signature. She has a picture page and look for one of the anniversary links towards the top of the page you click to and you'll see it!

We must have just missed it! It wasn't up last Friday when we were there. I thought the castle was lovely with the gold decorations. My favorite is the Peter Pan and Wendy characters flying around the top spire.
