Could anyone tell me what they liked and didn't like about this resort? And which building has the Murphy beds in the rooms?Thank you

I’d always wanted to stay there so we did last year. I won’t again. The design is odd to me. The buildings were very geometric and to get to our room we had to wonder through a lot of nice landscaping around to the back to get to stairs then wonder around to the other side of the building to our room. I honestly believe that there was no room any farther of a walk from the bus stop than our room. We would walk past our room on the ground, go all the way around to the other end of the building up the stairs and then wondered this zigzag way back to our door. Maybe we just had the worst possible location. No there wasn’t a closer staircase we’d missed. We were there 8 days.
I will always count the walk to the bus in my decisions. Our last trip was The Little Mermaid at AoA and we thought that walk was bad.

Next trip is Kidani at AK. All inside hallways. Nice walk. Can’t wait.

Me too! I spent more time wandering aimlessly around that resort. The bus situation drove us crazy. I hated staying there. The All Star Music (cheaper) has a much better layout. Now we only stay deluxe. I’m interested to see how we will feel about the Poly. I’m absolutely sure that we will never return to the Caribbean.

Not one building but many of them. Only rooms that DON'T are the Pirate themed rooms. But when they tore down an entire section they removed the Murphy beds and placed them in remaining buildings, increasing the rooms with Murphy beds. So they are plentiful in the non-Pirate rooms.

Otherwise, read the Caribbean beach thread for all your other questions.

To each their own. CBR is my personal favorite of the mods. To be fair, my husband SIGNIFICANTLY prefers POR and my daughter likes both POR and CBR, but I just love Caribbean Beach. I didn't really find the size to be all that bad, and this is coming from a person who stayed in a Pirate Room in the section farthest from the main building. We timed it once and it only took 10 minutes to get from our room to the main building to pick up a pizza and a package we had shipped to the resort. I really love the grounds; they are so lush and lovely and my family and I enjoyed taking walks around and letting our daughter play on the playground. I also think that the pool is fantastic with a pirate theme and multiple slides. My husband and I enjoyed going outside of our room to sit on the bench and watch the fireworks from Epcot one evening. We really loved the food court which doesn't really matter with the construction taking it out of commission for the moment. I know many complain about the multiple bus stops but I enjoy that at the mods. It means you are never far from your room when you get dropped off at the end of the day.

Negatively, it is a pain in the neck to get dropped off at a location other than the main building that is, to be honest, quite a hike to many different rooms. They are changing this to where you will be dropped off at the main building but I'm not sure when that goes into effect.

How long are you going for? What time of year? What is the make-up of your travel party (how many? ages?)

We stayed there last June with construction, here are my thoughts:
  • Construction had zero impact on our trip aside from seeing it as we drove by on the bus.
  • We were in Jamaica 46, which was very close to a bus stop which I liked.
  • It was a bit of a walk to the main pool and the food tent. Both of which we only used 1x over our stay. We preferred the quiet pool, and ate our meals elsewhere or in our room.
  • We had a king corner room. The extra window was nice, and the bed was amazing & comfortable.
  • Very large TV.
  • Enough space for my 9 DD & myself.
  • There was a large space on the corner of our door that all sorts of creatures could have gotten through which to me made it feel run down despite recently renovated rooms.
  • The resort itself is in a great location for EP or HS.
With all that said I just didn't love the resort. There was nothing wrong with it, just wasn't my style. I much prefer POR... much more my style with the old southern charm.

Thank you for your replies..We are a family of four myself, hubby, son 19 yrs and daughter 9yrs..We are planning on going in November..

We stayed there a couple of years ago and did not like it at all. The resort itself was nice, but we absolutely hated the bus service. We ended up driving to the parks a few times because we gave up waiting for a bus. Since then, we've tried to only stay at a deluxe where we could walk or take the monorail.

We stayed in August of 2017, we had 5 grown women in a room for 8 nights. We loved it! Construction was hardly noticeable, grounds were great and the room was large enough that even with the 5 of us we weren't tripping over each other. The walk to the food court (at that point it was just a buffet quick service) was not bad at all and really quite pretty. We were in Aruba and it was really lovely. One of my favorite things came out of the renovations and that was having a coke freestyle machine in building we were in and not having to go to the main dining area for my diet coke fix. (I don't do coffee!) it was really convenient, as was the little store 2 buildings over. The pool was also really cool. I can't wait to go back once the gondola system is up and running.

CBR is definitely our favorite resort of any level. I mean I loved BC and BWI too, but can't see spending that kind of money every trip. What I love the most about CBR is that it's always so peaceful and quiet. Even the rooms are quieter than other resorts we've stayed at. Outside of the food court, pool, and bus I'd swear the place was pretty much empty but rooms are usually pretty much fully booked when we are there. The grounds are gorgeous and it has a very laid back relaxed vibe. There are little beaches at each village where you can chill out in a hammock. You can watch (and hear) the Epcot fireworks from the bridge at night. I just find it a very welcome break from the usual hustle and bustle of the parks.

The rooms are very comfy for families of 5. Beds are comfier than many of the resorts we've stayed at. Plenty of space and storage and the sliding door separating the bed area from the bath area is a nice feature when you have little kids you are trying not to wake. The CMs here have been awesome and have definitely gone above and beyond for us. The bus transportation has been great. We've had an occasional fluke (as with every resort) but we rarely wait more than 5 minutes for a bus here. The pool is also very cool, especially the pirate themed splash zone area for the younger kids.

The food court is undergoing construction, but we enjoyed that as well. The chefs were great with our allergy needs and it was never as crowded as the value resorts seem to get.

I read a lot of terrible reviews before staying here, particularly about the size of the resort and the extensive walking and long bus rides, but we didn't find either of these to be an issue for us. We have stayed across the bridge in Jamaica and Aruba and it was a 6 minute walk across the bridge to the food court and pool. We easily walked from the custom house to our room (this may be blocked by construction currently). There is a bus stop at every village but do be aware that the stop for your village might not actually be the closest. We only had a 1-3 minute walk to a bus and the 3 was basically as far as you can get from a stop as that time I was smack in the middle of two stops on the farthest end of the building. The grounds were so enjoyable it was always a pleasant walk too.

I'm hoping for another trip to CBR this year!

Thank you for your thoughts on CBR. I am more comfortable with our decision to stay here. I know for every positive review there can be a negative, but a balanced response is much better than all negative.

One of the reasons that we did not like CBR is that except for the pool bar, there was no place to hang out in the evening. I love indoor lounges, quieter nooks, and I just didn't find that there. Lots of children and families all having a good time. If we had kids, we might stay there again as there was lots for them to do. But since it's just us, we won't go back.
