The Cannings return to Orlando 2006 - Day Two - Magic Kingdom

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you who are not familiar with my family, and have not read previous trippies and the pre-trip report, please let me do the introductions:

Myself (Catherine) (41) - loves anything Disney, especially Pooh and Mickey as Sorcerors Apprentice
DH (John) (47) - luckily loves disney as well, and is usually happy to agree with my plans
DS (Stephen) (14) - not too bad as a teenager, but doesn't like rides that go upside-down!

Friday 21 July 2006 - Day Two - Magic Kingdom

Well, body still being on UK time, what time did I wake up??? 3.45 am . Lay for a while, but couldn't get back to sleep so gave up and got up. Had a shower and then sat in the living room, writing trippie notes, and reading my book (I had taken 6 with me, not counting the one I finished on the plane journey).

The plan of action today, was breakfast at Crystal Palace. We had never been to MK for an early character breakfast, so this was a "first" for us. However, I knew we would be awake very early at the start of the holiday and decided to make the most of it, before "Teenage Syndrome" set in

Well we were all up and out of the house by 6.30 am (DS couldn't quite comprehend there are two 6.30's in a day LOL). It took us 30 minutes to get to MK, so we were entering the car park at 7.00 pm. Apart from cast member cars, we were the 10th car on the car park. We could not believe it. Easy walking distance to the T&TC. We duly put our England flags onto the car (you know the ones that everyone was using during the World Cup - they proved invaluable at helping us find the car when getting back to the car parks).

As it was too early for the ferry and the direct monorail, we had no choice but to take the resort monorail.

As we were the only ones there, we asked if we could ride up front? This was no problem

John & Stephen - didn't pick the same colour t-shirts on purpose!

Got to the main entrance at about 7.30 am, and then had to wait, as they didn't let us in until 7.45 am. The CMs were handing out stickers to all the children waiting, and you could tell which little girls were going to meet Cinderella at her Royal Table. They were all dressed up in their princess outfits.

Took a slow walk up Main Street, savouring the atmosphere, even though there was hardly anyone there

Notice how Stephen's sunglasses match his T-shirt - how cool is that?

Walked over to the CP and booked in. Given pager, but no sooner had we sat down to wait than we were called in - 10 minutes early.

Again, due to the early time, we were about the fourth party to be seated. Breakfast was excellent at usual. Great character interaction.

(Some of these photos aren't too good cos DS & DH have their eyes closed)

After eating as much as we could, paid the bill and waddled out towards Adventureland. By this time it was 8.45 am and we still had to wait for the rope drop. We wanted to try POTC first, to see what the changes were like!

Walked very quickly up to POTC to find it was closed due to technical difficulties.

As you cannot get a FP for this ride (which I think is silly!), we decided to go over to BTMR. Great ride as usual. Walked through Frontierland and Liberty Square up to HM. Another ride we love. Back to POTC - still closed!!!

Then we decided to brave it - IASW. Straight walk on, as all the other rides had been so far. Off that, singing the song, and straight over to Philarmagic. Spotted the hidden mickey, and thoroughly enjoyed the film as usual. That smell of apple pie - yummy.

Onto Peter Pan, which was only about a 5 minute wait, and then headed over to Tomorrowland. Got FP for Buzz, and then went onto COP. "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow". Come on, you all know the words, so sing along. Walked onto TTA and then used our FP at Buzz. Can't remember who won, I think it was Stephen.

Walked back down Main Street, as we were now beginning to feel tired. The Dapper Dan's were out singing and dancing. Think their singing is great, but their tap dancing is not as good as Stephen's! I suppose I am biased.

Left MK, and went for lunch at IHOP, which was OK. DS then wanted to have a go at mini-golf, which he loves. The course was on the 192, but it was absolute rubbish. It was really hot as well.

Anyway, decided to go back to the Villa for a bit of a chill out, but drove back via Walmart. The one we went to was the new one on US27, just north of the US27/192 junction. It is huge!! I wanted to buy some hair straighteners, to try and keep my hair in come sort of order. I also wanted some new flip flops and a new toothbrush.

Came out after spending some money, and then back to the villa.

Sat and read for a while, and DH & DS played cards. Our villa had a swing thing in the lanai, so this was quite relaxing.

Decided to try Outback Steakhouse for dinner, so drove back to the 192. Had to wait for about half an hour before being seated. It was really busy. John & I had the Bloomin Onion for a starter, as I wanted to try it after all the recommendations I had read on the boards. Well it was nice for the first five minutes, then I thought it got a bit sickly, and we didn't even eat a quarter of it. The meal over all was nice, and we would go back again.

We headed back to the villa and was home for 10.00 pm. I read a little more, and DH & DS watched some TV - Who's Line is it Anyway USA. and then went to bed.
