He was fine. I loved Brisn D'Arcy James, so no one was going to top him for me.How was Rob McClure? We loved him in "Honeymoon in Vegas".
Curious if anyone saw the Addams Family when it was around? I saw a local community production last night, and we thought it was awful. Music, story, all of it. I am just wondering if it was our mood and the very unprofessional level talent, or if it really is the show itself.
Thank you! Glad to know I wasn't being overly critical. I had to see it, I had friends in it, but I didn't really want to. And then when I was over, I so wished I hadn't.No.. you're correct. We saw it when it opened with Nathan Lane who I adore. It was eh.. a few good songs by Wednesday and some funny jokes but we were underwhelmed. Then DD begged me to take her to a touring cast. They had completely reworked the show. (Not for the better we thought.)
Saw Les Mis again last night, wanted to catch it agains before it closed, I just love this show!
I also have tickets for Privacy at the public in August and trying to fit in Fun Home before it closes as I haven't seen it yet.
I was chatting with my friend last night and while I see a fair amount of Broadway I have never seen phantom or Chicago, so I think I'll add them to the list just to cross them off....
You have tickets for Privacy?! I'm soooo jealous. I didn't realize Daniel Radcliffe was coming to broadway and by the time I did it was too late, it was sold outCome back here and report what you thought!
Ok...so I only have 2 weeks left in NYC. I think I've about tapped out the lotteries, didn't even win any last week. I have a few shows on the must see list. Does anyone have any advice for the cheapest way to find tickets? Today Tix has discounts, I know the TKTS ticket booths usually advertise 50% off but I've also heard that going to the actual show's box office the day of the show can get cheap tickets too. My only issue is that I have to be at work most of the day, so I can't be running around to try everything. I am pretty close to the Seaport TKTS box office, so I can walk over there when it opens.
Anyone have any advice?
If you are available during the day and can get to the box office when it opens I highly recommend rush tickets. I saw fiddler last night for $37 from 8th row orchestra with a rush ticket. Really enjoyed it too.
I have a question about The Color Purple seating. I saw it from the first row of the mezzanine with a ticket I purchased from the TKTS booth. I usually do lotteries, rush, TKTS, or HIPTIX or student rush when my daughter is around. In other words, inexpensive. However, Cynthia Erivo was so fabulous that I want to take my daughter to see it when she is home from school next month, but we can only go to one particular performance, so I want to buy tickets ahead of time to make sure we can see the show.
I can buy fourth row center for about $300. Would this be TOO close? My other options are to use a TheaterMania discount for fourth row side orchestra, or second row of the mezzanine , but on the aisle closest to the center. These tickets would only be about $200. There was also the option for row O center orchestra, so about 16 rows back, but I forget offhand if that was the full price $300 or if it was a TheaterMania discount ticket. I'm not sure I'd want to pay $300 for a seat that far back. If it were you, which tickets would you go for?
And, are there better options for discounts that I'm not considering? Would it be better to call the box office than to buy online? This would be for a Thursday evening show. Thanks.
Eta: the row O center orchestra seats are also about $200.
Saw Cats last night. I don't get why it is back and why it ran for like 25 years in the first run. It is oke of the worst shows I've ever seen. I feel bad as some of the cast is very talented. The source material is just bad.
Seeing Privacy next week so hopefully that makes up for sitting through Cats.
Agree with both of you. I detested Cats, and I don't really care for Phantom either. I do however, LOVE Joseph!I never understood the popularity of Cats. But then, I've never been much of an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan.
A year ago I played Grandma Addams in a local production of The Addams Family. She was kind of a fun old bird to do but I have to agree... out of the list of shows I have done it was one of my least favourites. I did love doing the opening "When You're An Addams (snap snap)" though. After that the show went downhill for me.No.. you're correct. We saw it when it opened with Nathan Lane who I adore. It was eh.. a few good songs by Wednesday and some funny jokes but we were underwhelmed. Then DD begged me to take her to a touring cast. They had completely reworked the show.
