The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

Aristocath said:
I'm seeing No Man's Land in a few weeks. I've heard that people generally don't like the play but love the actors in that one too. Are you planning to see it?

No, not planning to see it. I'm sure they do a grwat job with it, though. Personally I think I would have preferred the Pinter play. Beckett's play is all about existentialism -- not a philosophy I embrace.

Just bought my tickets for Aladdin on Broadway for May 25th. Great seats row BB mez.

Thanks for the tip! These are keepers. Wish I'd heard about the Great Performances presentation of South Pacific with Kelli O'hara. We ran across it about halfway through, so taped half of it.

I've only seen 2 shows. Les Mis & Miss Saigon, Both in London. Loved them both. But probably Miss Saigon the most

I want to see Phantom - may favorite music by far with Sarah Brighton singing

I highly recommend seeing "Ghost" if it's coming nearby on tour! Wonderful cast...it's non-equity but they have a future in musical theater. The girl that plays Molly was just spectacular!

I am seeing We Will Rock You tonight. Has anyone seen it? It's part of our package, but apparently reviews have not been good of other cities performances. I figure the music has to at least be good, and it can't be any worse than Flashdance was.

we love musicals and went to NYC last summer. Our kids were also super involved in community theater in the last town we lived in so they were exposed to a lot of musicals. While in NYC, we saw Phantom, Warhorse, Wicked, Book of Mormon and in various traveling shows, we have seen Sister Act (LOVED IT!!!), Beauty and the Beast, Book of Mormon again and we have tix this weekend to see Chicago in Austin with John OHurley(from Seinfield, I believe) We are excited about this one...

Love that our kids know most of the words to many many many of the shows...love hearing Sweeney Todd or Sound of Music or West Side Story coming out of their rooms...lol

Aw man - I hope it gets better! We have that coming this year and I am really looking forward to it.

However, i LOVED flashdance!!! Wasn't really looking forward to it but it blew me away! Why didn't you like it??

We saw Book of mormon on Sunday! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting. I was looking forward to it, and was very disappointed. I didn't care for the music, and nothing about it really gripped me. I was most disappointed by the lack of the title song they barely used one verse and that was it. My dd was very underwhelmed also.
But different strokes right? We can't all like the same stuff.
I will let you know what I think of We Will Rock You tomorrow.

Heads up to all Newsies fans that the website has announced a national tour starting September 2014! Many cities are listed already with a "more to come" added. No Seattle or Vancouver yet which is what I have my fingers crossed for!! So excited... :cheer2:

Flash dance? I don't remember much of the music but I remember it was short fun!

Interesting tidbit: we had a boil warning in Tampa and they had to use all bottled water to pour on her. Wow!
