So sad! Yeah I missed Heather Headley a few years ago. I drove by the civic theater and their was a big sign advertising her concert that night. I was a very sad girl.

She really is. That is one of my favorite soundtracks and I am just so sad that I have never actually gotten to see it. To see her in it would have been amazing (and Adam Pascal would have been nice too

Who did you see as Amneris? I love Idina Menzel
but from the Youtube clips I saw, I didn't like her as Amneris much

I saw it when it first opened on Broadway. Sherie René Scott was Amneris. she was wonderful.

We just took our kids to see Annie and they really enjoyed it. We're planning to take them again soon to see Cinderella. I'd like to see Matilda as well but I think they may be too young. I'm trying to talk DH into doing one of our "show weekends" we used to do before we had kids. Go to TKTS and see a show Friday night, Saturday matinee, Saturday night and Sunday. It'a funny because you don't think sitting through shows would be tiring but its totally exhausting! I think maybe I just get too emotionally involved in the story lines lol.

My BFF and I spent a mini-vacation in NYC and took advantage of the 2-for-1 Broadway Week sale. We saw Pippin (not a 2-for1), Trip to Bountiful and Once. All three of the shows were good, but I always say if I come out saying I should see it again, it is "great"!
I will say this -- Cicely Tyson is a wonderful actress. It was a real treat to see her, and Vanessa Williams did a good job too.
I got a real kick out of Once. When we sat down I noticed that people were going up on stage do buy drinks (my bff says "it is set in a bar!"). They cast came out and sang a few songs, just like they would at your local bar before the show itself started -- cool! Some of the songs were nice, but nothing I wold find myself humming afterwards.
Pippin was good, particularly the acrobat stuff - reminded me of Circque. The young man who played the role of Pippin needed a stronger voice.
After all of the Broadway shows, we finished off our NYC trip by going to Dizzy's Jazz Club, which is part of Jazz at Lincoln Center. Something different
Think that will be it for NYC for a while -- got to get ready for my trip to WDW in November!

Yay! That's exciting
How long does the show run?Yay! That's exciting
It runs for 3 weeks (7 shows per week.) Got through a run of Act 1 last night but it took 4.5 hours lol! Slow going but we still have a month until opening. We even have a stage rotate which i have never worked on before. Will be interesting!
I would like to get your thoughts please. I took DD9 to see Wicked this year. We had never seen it before and it was really good. DS14 would like to see Phantom of the Opera when it comes to our city next year. He read the book and saw the movie in school and now wants to see it. I haven't seen it in over 13 years. Would it be appropriate for a 14 year old? He actually put tickets to see the show on his christmas list that is how much he wants to see it. Thanks for the advise!

My daughter was just cast in a local production of Les Mis- they start rehearsing this weekend, it's her first time with this theatre that is doing Les Mis so she is really excited.

Phantom is a visually/musically impressive show. If he is a fan of musical theatre (and it sounds like he is...) he should love it! Have fun!
