The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

Has anyone seen Peter & the Starcatchers?

I saw it after the TONY Awards last year, right before Christian Borle left. It took me a few minutes to get used to the style/fast pacing of the dialogue, but once I was onboard I thought the entire show was pretty spectacular. Really inventive (yet simple) staging and pretty magical.

One of the all time funniest shows I have seen! We are actually going back to see it again soon! We saw it 2 months ago and still walk around saying lines and doing things from the show!!

Thanks for the reviews, I'm looking forward to it. It's coming on tour here, and my daughter loves Peter Pan and broadway musicals... So we of course are getting tickets. One of my favorites, Evita, is coming too! I've seen some good and some bad Evita performances, so I am hoping this one is a good one. :)

So excited, my DDIL just got me a ticket to the Actor's Fund benefit at the Lion King this Sunday! Saw Lion King a few days before 9/11, that is so long ago now that I need to go again! Happy !!!!

Dd and I snagged tickets for Cinderella at the TKTS booth. Matinee was the mistake. Place was packed with camp kids( little supervision) and while the majority were very well behaved, you know those few bad apples spoiled it. But we enjoyed the show. It seemed rather low budget compared to th other recent ones we have seen. The actors were all fantastic though. High quality! So out of 5 stars I'll give it a solid 3.5. The story took a little political turn which was unexpected.

This time of your matinees are tough- last week my daughters camp went to see Newsies (100 little kids!).

Going to see First Date this weekend! Looking forward to seeing Zachary Levi on stage!

Someone higher up the food chain from my DDIL took my ticket to Lion King ...dirty pirate:pirate:pirate:pirate: couldn't be helped.

Trying to maintain a Hakuna Matata happy face!

We are going to NYC shortly and was wondering if it is better to order tickets before we leave or while we are there.

Would they be cheaper in advance or on the same day?

Where are some good places to get tickets?

I looked on-line and there are so many to choose from. We have seen Mama Mia and Shampoo at home. We enjoyed them so much. Our dd's former hs puts on a musical every year (for the past 3) and we love them.

Any suggestions of where to get our tickets?

TIA,

Janna

You want to order them as soon as you can. Broadwaybox.com has discounts. "Hot" shows will not have a discount.

You can go to Times Square the day of the show. They discount between 20%-50% of leftover tickets. If there is a show you really want to see, don't count on buying them here. If you don't care what you see, you'll find something. If you've an iphone, get the tkts app.

What do you want to see?

"Spider-Man" Broadway Actor Hurt During Show: Officials
The performance was canceled for the night as the actor was taken to the hospital

An actor was seriously hurt on the set of Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" during the show Thursday night and the performance was cancelled, a spokesman for the production said.

First responders were called to the Foxwoods Theatre on West 42nd Street shortly after 9 p.m., when a piece of equipment somehow pinned an actor's leg backstage, the FDNY said.

The actor was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Spokesman Rick Miramontez said the performance was "immediately halted" when the actor was hurt. Audience members who attended that showing will be eligible for refunds or exchanges, Miramontez said.

The $75 million stunt-filled production was plagued with accidents and injuries in its early days, but after a reboot that included new safety protocols, it has found success on Broadway.

The show's producers are readying a Las Vegas production, another in Germany and reportedly a touring show.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times published Monday, director Philip William McKinley said the days of cast injuries were behind the production.

"I don't think those are going to happen anymore. Our safety plans are higher than any other show on Broadway."

Has anyone seen Potted Potter? I've been thinking of going for a while. And now they are in their last weeks, ending Sept 1. There is a Groupon for half off. But, it doesn't look like I can choose my seats, only which performance. Although the seats will be in rows B-G.

We saw it! My daughter loved it, I liked it. As long as you are familiar with the whole harry potter thing it is very funny. They interact with the audience so that makes it funnier!

Got tickets for ARGUENDO by The Elevator Repair Service, FUN HOME (a new musical) and Ethan Hawke in the Lincoln Center production if MACBETH.

Hopefully, I'll be buying tickets for BIG FISH in Oct, but that will have to wait until I return from WDW!
