The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

I saw Rock of Ages a couple of weeks ago, on tour. I was pleasantly surprised :) My friend had wanted me to go with her and I said yes but jukebox musicals are not my thing at all. I also tend to like shows that include people dying. LOL
It was a really fun show, though, and even though the cast has been doing it for a while now, it seemed both fresh and genuine.

Love ROA!!!!!!!!!!!! I've seen it twice and plan on taking my dd for her 16th bday. Thought it was so much fun.

I'm going to see American Idiot for the **th time this Sunday - it is Billie Joe Armstrong's last performance - :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

One day I hope to get to New York to see a Broadway show, till then I will continue to go to London shows, have just booked to see Shrek the musical and also Ghost, both open this summer and I have tickets for October. The best show I have seen is Pricilla Queen of the Desert - fabulous show, would really recommend it.

oh I really want to see a west end show! I hope to go next year. And hopefully you get to see a show in NY!

Did you see We Will Rock You? I am so hoping it comes to NY. Priscilla is opening in NY soon, I didn't know if I was interested, but you have me curious.

I just got my renewal notice for our 2011-2012 season and renewed instantly! So many good shows coming...

Also... not part of the package... but American Idiot is coming!! I can't wait to buy tix for that! Just found out about that one today!

Wow I would LOVE to see Priscilla... I have loved that movie since it came out. How exciting for you that get to see it!

I saw him tonight! It was my 3rd time seeing the show. Had absolutely no plans to see a show at all today...but I saw it up on TKTS on my way home from work and then thought about staying in the city to see it. When I saw a long line for my bus at the Port Authority, I took it as a sign and went back to the theater to try the lotto.

I didn't win the lotto (but I did see Billie Joe going into the theater - he is a cutie!), but I stuck around and got a partial view ticket. Wasn't a bad view, either! Missed some stuff on the sides, but it was 6th row orchestra and it was great.

The show is in amazing shape (I haven't seen it since last May), and Billie Joe was terrific! I'm so glad I got to see him as St. Jimmy and that I got a chance to see the show again. It's such a great show, it's gotten better every time I've seen it. :thumbsup2

Hope you get to London one day, lots to see and do! Many great shows, plus lots of other cool stuff, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London etc

Hi yes did go and see We Will Rock You - great show, hope you get it over there soon, but in the meantime you really have to go see Priscilla, brilliant show, fabulous costumes, never met anyone who didnt like it! what have you got to lose, go on book those tickets!!

Am very happy at mo have just got some Iron Maiden tickets! but i guess thats a different thread..........

I just noticed that Les Mis will be in Cincinnati next May. Since I am going to have to miss in it Louisville next week (thanks baby! LOL) I will get to see it in over a year!

I did really like ROA. It was just so much fun!

Saw American Idiot yesterday - both performances.

I can't describe why I loved this show so much, I'm so sad that most of the original cast is leaving. Yesterday was the last day for John Gallagher Jr. and Michael Esper. Christina Sajous had her last performance Saturday night and Billie Joe's stint is over :sad1:

We were so into the performance last night that someone sitting behind us asked if we were the parents of anyone in the cast :lmao: That sums up the feeling I had about this show, like they were all nieces and nephews that I was so proud of!

Good luck to everyone in their future roles :)

And thank you for the past year - it was amazing fun!

Saw Spiderman last night. The visuals were amazing. Loved the sets and costumes and the stunts were incredible. But something was lacking with the story and or music. Couldn't put my finger on it. Bono and the Edge were there last night to critique so maybe they can make some last minute changes. It has so much potential.

Wonderland (or at least I think that's the title of the show)
Anyone heard about this new Disney production of the classic Alice in Wonderland musical coming to Broadway?
I've been a big fan of how Disney does their musicals and can't wait to see this one...

Good luck!!!

We are coming in on March 12 to see the last show, Sunday, March 13. We got seats way back in October in row A!!!

It's a long way to go for a show, but for Les Miz, it is worth it! Besides, our kids are on spring break, and my parents live in Clarksville, IN, so it works out great!

They must be really worried.

The early reviews are scathingly bad.

I have my ticket for "How to Succeed..." & I saw a commercial for it this morning. Anderson Cooper is doing the voice work (that Walter Cronkite did in previous productions), so that should be fun.

If you click on the Tickets tab, apparently it starts showing the middle/end of this month.

We saw it in December when previews were just starting. It was LONG, 3 1/2 hours! I also felt a lot of potential - but it needed lots of work. The sets were amazing, as were the flying sequences. I really look forward to seeing it again when they finally decide it is ready to premiere.

Ummm... if you're going into the show expecting to see Disney do the classic Alice in Wonderland story you're going to be sorely disappointed. Disney is not involved nor is it the Disney story.
