The British Aren't Coming To Orlando

just tickets to WDW for the 6 of us is $2400 - and that's if i buy the cheap ticket available to Brits (which requires a bit of shenanigans on my part to get hold of them - adding a few hundred dollars to the total price for handling fees)...

if i buy the magic your way tickets, to get the same benefits available to the british ticket, it will cost me over $3600 for the 6 of us....
just a basic ticket, without park hopping or water parks or anything, will cost us $2400 for the 6 of us....the very basic ticket without any extras...

highway robbery to say the least....

and that's before i think about hotel or flights or food...

and my last visit to WDW in june, i felt the quality of service had deteriorated...the CMs were far less "disney" than they have been in the past...charge more and provide less....not a recipe for customer satisfaction...

What is the cheap ticket available to Brits and where do you get them?

you can buy them online, but to do so, you have to be a resident of the UK or the European Union to be able to buy them - you need a UK or EU credit card and you need a UK or EU mailing address (where they send the tickets)...
i live outside the US, but not in the UK or EU...so i use my office travel agent, who is in the UK...but she charges me a service fee for buying them for me....

there are several websites that sell them....Kenny does a monthly analysis of who is selling it the cheapest at that time...

Assume means the 14 day ultimate tickets only uk guests can buy - cost £220 or so for 14 nights inc hopping and waterparks.

MYW 10 day is £163 plus an extra £30 for hopping and £30 for waterparks so roughly same cost for only 10 days.

UK visitors can buy the MYW tickets instead though eg if you don't want water parks.

My wife meets all of those requirements and she'll be going over to the UK for a month soon. :thumbsup2

Thanks, I'll give it a look. If she can get non-expiring tickets at a discount that would be wonderful.

If you buy the ultimate tickets, you'll need to use them before the end of the year!

Just to clarify they are not non expiring - they expire 14 days from first use and must be used the year they are bought.

They are 14 days as that is the typical length of a British package holiday to Florida.

They also do a 21 day ultimate for not much more for those on 3 week holidays.

Beth you seem very angry . My boyfriends sister lives in tokyo and pays £7 for a coffee in a cafe and with all thts going on over there I wouldnt like you to have a bad holiday. Its a shame noone here can help you out buying your tickets. I dont know how disney would know you wernt british when entering the parks with a UK ticket. We dont have to take passports.
I think we are all feeling the pinch especially with flight prices and the ridiculous taxes for everything except the toilet roll.
I hope you manage to find a good deal.August is not the cheapest time to go but I understand with kids it is hard.My DD is not at the age where her school pull a face but they soon will and I will have to revert to school hols.

That's not really good for us then. We typically drive down, stay a few days then return a few months later. Thanks for the info :thumbsup2

I think its a combination of what has already been said.

I don't have the desire to return to Florida as we've been lucky enough to go many times over the years. California, on the other had, is where I really wanna go back, but I digress..

I suspect people are put off by booking a holiday when you start looking into the overall cost

£1456 for theme park tickets alone (2 ad, 2 kids; 5 park Flex ticket and 7 day Disney pass).

Thats off putting for me. And I couldn't go to Orlando feeling like I can't afford a park. I want the option to visit all the major ones. Going on a budget holiday would not feel like a holiday. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big spender either. I eat at ihop and Golden Corral/Sizzler types and will stay off site (too much Disney is not for me).

Part of the problem for me is paying so much for something I have already experienced a number of times in the past.

I do love Orlando. But it the overall cost to go again is close to 40% higher to do the same thing I have done before. I think it would need a few major new attractions for me to get excited about going again.

Britons are suffering their biggest drop in living standards for 30 years, according to a new report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS).

And some are suffering more than most, eg My husband has a Passat TDI for his sales job, when we bought it 18 months ago a full tank was £65, now its close to £100.Also a lot of people will lose child benifit next year, add on VAT rise, utility bill rising, thats a massive drop in alot of household incomes.
I just cant see how the orlando visitors numbers are going to increase without huge incentives:confused:

100% agree

The government's cuts have still to be felt by a lot of people. Everyone will feel those, be it in a big or small way.

Also the price increase in flights does not help - the hotels are still cheap over there but as been mentioned before the park tickets are so expensive.

My friend came back from NY last week , we told her to go to Jersey Gardens which is a fab outlet shopping centre (we go there a lot as we go to NY for work) .

Normally its packed with brits buying the clothes to bring back she said it was so empty and even in the shops they had noticed a decline in the brits coming over.

Hi we have been coming to Florida for 11 years we love it more than any other place, we have a lot of friends in the U.K and we are all no longer heading across the pond because, Flights are too expensive, Disney Ticket prices keep rising, they charge on top for Car parking ,Daily, and many many more reasons.
