~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Hello Disbots! Long time no see!

Mike You really should join facebook.

Howard I'm sorry to hear about your foot. The good news is once it heals up you will probably get back to race shape in no time and there is still lots of time before the fall race season.

Lou You are smoking fast. The string of races have you put together recently is really impressive. Are you going to run the full or the half in Baltimore? I'm a little worried that the website for Baltimore describes the course as having "boston like hills near the end" and it being "a challenging, but fair course that is a good test for any marathoner".

Jodi Congrats on the age group prize. The only time I ever won my age group was at a local 8K. Did I forget to mention that I was the only one in my age group? :-)

Dave Sorry to hear about your back. As for my training, yes I'm using the advanced marathoning plan again. This time I'm going for the 24 week 55 mile plan. I figure I need to train extra hard this go around if I want to break 4 hours in Baltimore.

Howard – As soon as you are 100% better, I’m sure you will be back in top form before you know it.

Cindy~ Thanks; I lament daily about my situation and look forward to the chance to get in motion again. I am inspired by everyone here and the great/fantastic times you all have been logging for your races. I realized today that I went 49 days :sad2: undiagnosed and walking around on a stress fractured foot. That is a lifetime for me considering I missed the Caesar Rodney race (with Lou) and will be missing the Delaware Half next weekend (May 17).

This time last year I was preparing for finals and in similar shape overall...similar weight, similar exercise/sitting at a desk all day. I began running May 27 and had dropped nearly 20 pounds for the Marine Corps Marathon (PR'ing it 4:10:49). I will have to do a repeat this year to get back in shape and rebuild my fitness level to attain the time goals I have for 2009 -Sub 4 Marathon, 1:45 Half.

I heard from Chester, he is alive and (hopefully) well. It looks good for he and I to get together for dinner sometime next week while I am in St. Pete's Beach, FL on a business trip. I am really looking forward to it.

Hello to all of my other BOTville friends~ Matt, Lou, Chester, Jodi, Sara, Dave, Mike (the Facebook challenged), Kathy (who joined Facebook today!), Colleen, Jen, Butch, Debra and Cindylou.

Hey Everyone: I went for a run today. It was a little over 3 miles in a little under 30 min. My back didn't bother me at all. I felt a little winded, but I think that's because I did nothing the past week. It felt good to get back out there. Almost time for PIG PILE in the mudpit!!!

Who's the StitchAttack person on here? OK Matt, I need to go get a copy of the Advanced Marathoning book. However, I really don't know if I have the time for that peak 55 mile/week plan.

Mike You really should join facebook.
WHAT THE HECK!!!!! You don't post for 4 months and the first thing you do is pile on me???

DOUBLE WHAT THE HECK!!!! I'm sitting here reading and Kathy's looking over my shoulder. I laugh about Matt, she laughs too. I read down a few and find out she's... she's... uggh. I'm soo defeated.

You know what you should do, Mike? Join FB. Because if you did it, it might be just the incentive I need to encourage DOOD to add some WISHers to his friends list. :upsidedow Especially since I have him looking at the Bull Run Run and Baltimore.

Good morning Bots.

I have the morning off so I get to go do some yoga!

Howard, Cam coming home today? Looks like they had a grand time.:dance3:

Welcome back Matt.

Mike don't feel defeated, no one will mention it that shall not be named anymore.:)

Debra, you should definitely do Baltimore!:cheer2:

If I'm not mistaken, I think someone, who will remain anonymous, told Kathy over on FB that you're not even needed over there anymore since Kathy's taken the leap and can keep us all abreast of your happenings:rotfl::lmao::confused3 Of course if you sign up you could see who actually said itpopcorn::

Matt - Great to see you:thumbsup2 Sweet job on the 1/2:yay:

Debra - Glad you and DOOD are considering Baltimore:banana:

Dave - Congrats on the successful run:cheer2: Best of luck with the Muddy Buddy this weekend and all we can do is learn from our mistakes, right:laughing:

Cindy - I mentioned the Homewood Suites on So President. It's near the water and the price is doable with the AAA rate. However, the Springhill Suites on So Calvert is a pretty good deal as well. Lord girl, what's this itch for a marathon you speak of?!?!? Can you please pass it my way because the 26.2 I'm signed on to do in about 3.5 weeks isn't sitting well:confused:. However, you've inspired me to down a bunch of beers and gnaw on some ribs the night before and I should be good to go the distance;)

Howard - Patience is a virtue and you did it last year so you can pull it out this year and have a great fall racing season:woohoo:. Thanks for the Chester update and I hope you have a great trip next week.

Lou - You're WAY fast:worship: How did the merchandise go over at the Broad St run?!

Totally bagged the LR with no remorse:guilty: since there's a season for everything and right now I need to be devoting my time and energy towards non-running areas of my life:love:. We're off to NYC this weekend for Mother's Day to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway so it looks like no LR for me:rolleyes1. Therefore, the weekend of the 16th I need to figure out what I want to get in for a LR knowing it'll be my last. Since we'll be on vacation the week prior to the race, I can see a whole lot of hurt in my sights come 5/31:scared:. I'll be praying for free flowing chi the whole way:hippie:

Sara

I'd forgotten that you were running Rock n Roll San Diego this year. Even though I ran pretty poorly last year, it was a fun event and Cindy and I had a great time in San Diego. I definitely want to do it again some time. Where are you staying? Do you have any extra time to see the sights? I grew up in San Diego so I could probably give you some advice on that sort of stuff if you want it.

Um, I seem to recall that Sara told you where she was staying (to ask you if it was in a good area) the night before Philly and you didn't know where it was . . . :rolleyes1

I'm still alive and kicking. Unfortunately, there is no way I will be able to reply to everyone who asked about me during my sabbatical.

But, I will give a short race report for the Country Music Marathon.

I thought this would be a good race for me. I even got both of my 20 mile training runs in. And yeah, it was supposed to be hot, but hey, I live and train in Florida. Sweating is my business.

The plan was to shoot for a 4:45 run. But like always during a race, I ignored my game plan and had a severe case of "happy feet" at the start. I had 10 really good miles in when I decide to back off the pace and switch to my planned rate.

At around 12 miles I grabbed a cup of pretzels just after passing a water station. I put a handful of pretzels in my mouth and then realized that the next water station was over a mile away. Stupid move. So I choke those pretzels down and then take another mouthful. Stupid stupid move.

The highlight of this part of the race was seeing Mike heading towards me from the other direction. He was around his 18 mile mark and we met briefly in the median. Seeing Mike gave me a second wind.

For the next 10 miles or so I was swearing that this was my last marathon. But then I remembered that I am doing the Honolulu with Tracy in December. Alright, after Honolulu, then I'm done with marathons. But then I remembered that I've already signed up to do 2010 Goofy with Chet. Alright, after Goofy 2010, then I'm done with this marathon thing.

Finally I'm getting to the 22, 23 and 24 mile and the pretzels have finally been washed out of my mouth, so I start feeling better. At mile 25 I decide that the walking is over and it's time to run this thing out. I got back to race pace and finished just as my calves were beginning to want to cramp. My clock time was 05:28:51. A disappointment, but hey, since this was my next to next to last marathon, who cares.

So, Monday evening while I'm contemplating my ever blackening toenails, I'm going through the goody bag from the expo. There in the stack of race brochures is one for the Las Vegas Rock-n-Roll Marathon in December. Hey, out flight to Hawaii isn't going to be non-stop - maybe we could make a pre -trip to Vegas. And while in Vegas, I could run the Marathon on December 6th. But wait a minute. I convinced myself that I was done with this stuff. Yeah right, I'm back baby and I'm adding Vegas to the schedule. Stupid Stupid Stupid.

I miss you guys:love:,

Chester

Dave - Glad the back is feeling good enough to run...don't let some MuddyButtyTool stomp on it while you're rolling around in that mud pit!:rotfl2: WISH i was going :sad1: And what's all this talk about 55 mile a week training?:sad2:

Howard - Cam got you back in line again yet? How's the tootsie feeling? Are you able to get any cardio in? I would take this time out to really concentrate on core strength, whaddya thing?

Colleen - How was yoga? And who are you to invite people to Baltimore??? You're not even going to BE there!!:rotfl:

Debra - You should do Baltimore!:yay:

Mike - OK, YOU find a relay & let me know which one we're doing, kay? Sheesh. Just go on Kathy's FB & play!

Cindy - What's all this marathon smack talk? I thought you were all about the 1/2s this year??

Chester - I really enjoyed your race report...I feel like that during every marathon...swearing I'll never do another :lmao:. Except for Philly, oddly enough.

I haven't run at all since Sunday. I figure I peaked out with that time, it won't get any better, so I'm done. Off to DC tomorrow with the kid's klub, but will try to check in.
Be good while I'm gone!

Jodi~ Cam is in the air at the moment and is due in to PHL within the next 20 minutes or so. I am not doing squat (or squats) to get any cardio in with this aircast on. I can't even do sit-ups and put pressure on my feet. I have two more weeks as of tomorrow with the boot. The foot is feeling better though, which is good news. I will really hit the gym, road and the salads once this boot is off. The pounds will drop and I'll be happier and healthier than I am today.

If you, or anyone, can make recommendations for cardio without the use of one of the feet, let me know. I need some ideas. Thanks!

Jodi- Have a good trip to DC. Are you going to be able to meet up with Cindy and Matt? I wish all you Bots were going to be at the Muddy Buddy too. I feel a little strange running without you guys. Chester and I will represent!

Matt - I like the mid-distance races more than the marathons. However, I'll be training to run at least one marathon in the fall. As for Baltimore, I am going to wait to see if I get into NYC first. If I get in NYC I want to plan to train for that race. I expect I will not get into NYC and then I will probably run Baltimore (full), and maybe Philly again.

Dave - There is a guy in my neighborhood that was out of work last year and passed around flyers about doing yard work. Hiring him was the best investment I made in a while. We had a company drop 5 cu yds of mulch off on Saturday for our yard (usually takes me 2 days to spread it). I came back from the Broad St Run to find the mulch spread neatly in all off our flower beds. He makes money and use the time to run races. Get yourself a lawn buddy and preserve your back and sanity.

Howard - You'll do fine. If you did it before you can do it again.

Sara - I met a guy from Verizon on the subway (that I haven't seen in a while) and developed a little business. My BiL said some runner came up to him during the race and asked if we were hiring. He then proceeded to drop back and take a picture of the back of the shirt. I guess it worked. The trip to NYC for Mother's Day and Little Mermaid sounds great!

Chester - Welcome back. (Note to self...never eat pretzels in a marathon without having some water).

Jodi - Enjoy the trip to DC.

Colleen - Hope you enjoyed the yoga.

Mike - This whole FB thing is a test to see how you hold up to peer pressure. Next thing you know we'll all be smoking at the Balt Marathon and pressuring you to smoke.

Hey Jen, Cindy, Debra, CindyLou, anyone else?

I think I'll run today. It's not that I am sore but I just can't get psyched about running in this dreary weather. Did I move to Seattle? I seriously cannot remember the last time I saw the sun.

Lou
