~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

I still haven't received an e-mail about getting into the Pittsburgh Marathon. I'm getting nervous. I found a Facebook Page for the race, and there are tons of people there that were posting about getting shut out. Here was one post...

"By 9am on 3/17 there were already 600 runners on the wait list!!"

I sent my e-mail for the waitlist at noon on 3/17, and they're only taking 1500 more runners.

Colleen - What's your calendar looking like for Monday, 4/13 for dinnerpopcorn::?

Oh, darn, my sister is coming down for the Easter break on the 11th and then we are taking her and her son the beach for three days. :guilty: I got a good deal for a condo on Emerald Isle and she has never been to a NC beach so she was all over having some nice quiet down time on the ocean.

Got the race results from yesterday (see below). Not as bad as I thought. I think what bothered me was that I looked at the 2008 results the night before and realized I could come up close to the top if I PR'd this race. This must be a slow crowd because I never finish this high.

I looked at the Garmin data this morning. There were 3 bridges in the first 3 miles and I completely burned myself out by the third bridge. If I ran a little smarter I could have saved some gas for the last 7 miles.

Ocean Drive 10 Mile March 29, 2009
OVERALL FINISHER LIST

PLACE: 44/457
DIV/TOT: 7/62
TIME: 1:16:28
PACE: 7:39

Alright, enough whining about this race. I saw that the lady from IL that sat next to me on the bus ran a 4:33 marathon. Not bad considering she is 56 and ran the race on 4 hrs sleep. I was also shocked at how many out of towners ran the OD Marathon. Lots of people from all over the USA for a little race in NJ. I bet there were a lot of people doing the 50 state thing like the lady from IL.

Nicole just signed up for the Broad St Run.

Dave - I heard your Podcast. Man, you are a better man than me for sitting through that show. So, are you going to be doing a show at WDW for marathon weekend this year?

What's new in Bot Land?

Lou

Hello...anyone home?

No running for me yesterday but I'll get out there tonight and get in 4 or 5. It's too cold to run in the AM.

Foot update:

1. Discontinue use of aircast.
2. No running for 2 weeks
3. Gym for XT is Okay
4. Ease back into running with a couple of brisk walks first
5. Let discomfort (or pain) be my guide - back off it hurts
6. Call the podiatrist back in 2 weeks to report success

Our quick trip to WDW was fun! Andrew, Jenn and I went to Magic Kingdom on Saturday and after she began to work in the afternoon, Andrew and I went to Disney Hollywood Studios to ride Toy Story Mania, then went back to MK for Extra Magic hours. On Sunday we went to Downtown Disney in the rain, then lounged around the resort until 5 when Magical Express came to whisk us to the airport.

Our heinous flight was supposed to leave at 7:55, it was delayed 15 minutes when we checked in, then an additional 45 minutes once we were seated on the plane. We took off at 9:05 PM. ANdrew and I were home by 12:00. I had to be at work by 7:30 AM for a meeting too.. nice.

I just registered Cam and I for the Race for the Taste! We're in baby!

:grouphug:

Howard

Howie - Glad your foot is on the mend - go easy. Your whirlwind weekend in Disney sounds too cool! Execept for the heinous flight.;)

Hi Lou - How's the bod feeling after your race on Sunday? Did you get out there today?

I ran 6 miles today, it was OK.

Um, that's it.

I want to sign up for Tower of Terror Race or Expedition Evererest, but Disney has so much of my dang dough already, I'm not sure I can stomach registering for another race!:rotfl:

Does that mean that you are going to do the other half of the double and run Baltimore?
Cindy - That's a definite maybe. I have to do a few things between now and then to prove to my darling wife that I can take days off work and plan ahead for things other than races.

Are you running the L.A.W.S. half this year?

Gee, I guess if I did one of those it wouldn't meet my criteria of planning as stated above would it?

Lou - To hear you tell the story of your race I figured you came stumbling across the line with the jugglers, the folks talking on their cell phone, and the mall walkers with their still shiny Reeboks. That 7:39 pace is not so shabby!

Dave - Who'da thunk the Pittsburgh race would be so popular! I hope you hear something soon. Have a safe trip.

Colleen - Let Jeff know that I signed up for Richmond. If that doesn't work out for him I just may have to squeeze in 2 fall fulls.:thumbsup2

Sara - Here's hoping you get the mojo back soon. Oh, and I also saw that Karen still has you listed for diner pre-CMM. Are you coming to Nashville just for the pasta?

Howard - I'm glad you had fun on your trip inspite of the flight. Race for the Taste, huh? That does sound like fun. Oh wait, I forgot about planning criteria as stated above. :headache:

Not much to report from me. I did some XT Monday but not much else so far.

Mornin' everyone. I'm sitting at the gate at the airport. Wow, had to get up at 4am for the 6am flight.

Dave - Conference my a$$! Have fun in Disneyland!:lmao: Travel safe!

Mike? - Is this really YOU? Hmmm...you sound a little too subdued & cordial to be the Mike we all know & love. I think this is an impostor & that the REAL Mike dropped off the same cliff that Steve from days gone bye, did. Come to think of it, I think that guy Chester is about to leap off said cliff, as well :rolleyes1popcorn::.

Drum roll, please! I got my jye-normous gluteus maximus out of bed this a.m. and actually ran before work. Now there's a concept! :sad2: Granted, it was only 3 miles, but hey, I'm pacing myself.

Sorry, I have to keep my posts simple because I'm just coming off some surgery and my new humongous breasts make it just too difficult to type.

On the bright side, I can now adjust the angle of the the screen without using my hands!

Oh, and speaking of dancing bananas..., let's just say the old dude is an income tax rebate check away from a formaldehyde jar.

There Jodi. Happy?

Somehow my post from earlier is not here? Hmmm.

It went something like this:

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I went to the YMCA for some XT tonight and logged 1.5 on the Elliptical and 4.41 miles on the bike in 15:18. The foot is doing well so far. I took it easy on purpose. I will continue to do so and ease back into a fitness program complete with goals, a running schedule, etc. (Kind of like Jodi's :rolleyes1 )

Jodi~ You are my idol, getting up in the AM to run like that!

Hello to all of my other BOT Brothers and Sisters!

Ahhh, much better! Thank you :worship::love:.

So I finally decided to venture over to this thread since there are so many people local to me on here.

:wave2:

I'm thinking about signing up for the Philly Distance Run. I know a lot of you guys did that last year. I am also hoping to sign up for the Race for the Taste, but I'm not sure if I have the finaces for it yet.

I am in the Race for the Cure in Philly and I plan on running the whole thing. Hopefully finishing in less than 30 minutes, but less than my age (32) would be okay. I'm trying really hard to build up my speed in the meantime. Will anyone be there?

Welcome, Megan :yay:! I won't be @ any Philly events this year (at least I don't think I will). Lou's your man for Philly. Him & Howard, anyway. I'm sure they'll be @ the Philly Distance thingie!

No running today, but I did sign up for that local half this Sunday. We'll see how it goes; if it feels OK, I'll go for that sub-two-hour ruse. But if I'm suckin' pond water, I'll just consider it a 13 mile run, like Cindy said. On FACEBOOK (for those of you who don't partake).

What's up with the rest of you BOTS, today?

Megan: Butch and I will likely be at the PDR and are definitely doing the Broad Street Run (we finally signed up just before the April price increase)

Mike: You really need to stop writing stuff that makes me laugh when I'm at work-- people look at me like I'm strange or something (I am, but they still don't need to rub it in ;) )

Lou: Nice job on the 10 miler, but I really expected some horrible time when you finally fessed up-- your race sounds pretty good to me.

Megan - First off, Welcome!!

Second, sorry that your first post (for a long while anyways) had to follow my Jodi-induced confession about my new plan to BQ. It just dawned on me that instead of getting faster it would be a bunch easier to take advantage of the extra 30 minutes given to the ladies of my age. :thumbsup2

Jen - And just how do you suppose they look at ME at my work??:confused3

Jodi - That's quite a gamble signing up for your race so far in advance. What if it's cloudy or heaven forbid, a little windy.:scared1:

I KNOW! But I figure if the forecast changes between now & then I'm only out $35. Could you imagine if it was windy:eek:? Forget about it!

Yeah for the weekend!!!

Yoga for me this morning, a little shopping for clothes for the kids (they are growing like weeds) and then a weekend of hauling mulch and MORE YARD work!!:banana::thumbsup2:scared1:

Jodi, good luck with the half marathon.

Mike, I hope you are recovering.

Hi to everyone!

Colleen - Did you have fun in the yard. Feel free to come up here and whip my place into shape.

Jodi - Good luck on your race.

I apologize for the cracks about the wind. Mother Nature blew my sarcastic commments right back in my face today! I 'bout got blowed backwards for the last half of my 16 miler this morning. Serves me right.
