~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Hey Chester, I have a question for you as a Muddy Buddy expert. You're doing the race again this year, right? Does the race sell out? Do I have to worry about getting registered ASAP? I don't plan on waiting to the last minute, but I was wondering if I need to think about registering sooner rather than later.

Dave
Chet and I are teaming up again for this year, our 4th.

The race has sold out every year. I waited too long to register Miranda and her BF in 2007. I think that one reached capacity at the end of March.

You should register sooner than later. I don't ever recall them keeping a running count of entrants, so you have no way of judging when the 1,750 team limit has been reached.

I hope you can make it.

Chester

That's great to know. Thanks Chester! :thumbsup2 I never hear many people talking about the race, so I was thinking I had lots of time. I'll see if I can get my registration in...

Chester
Thanks for clearing up that giraffe thing...I was wondering about that myself?!:rotfl:

Dave
I've always wanted to do the Muddy Buddy - even the minnie triathalon they have @ Disney. The only thing that holds me back is the friggin' bike issue  . How do I get a bike to FL????:headache:

Where are the rest of you freaks?

Hey man, I ran a whopping 4 miles today

Chester

Where are the rest of you freaks?

This freak is here.

Nothing to say other than this stupid ear infection thing really sucks. I had to go back to the doctor today and she gave me different drugs. I'm not really a fan of taking antibiotics, so I'm even less a fan of taking even stronger antibiotics, but the pain and pressure in my head is so bad, I'm not going to argue at this point.

Jeez, Cindy, that really bites!! What the heck happened? Did you travel somewhere or run in to someone who was sick? Can you at least drug yourself up @ night with Advil or something so you can sleep?

I have no idea how this happend, :confused3 I don't think I've had an ear infection since I was in grade school.

I have been taking OTC pain killers, but they wear off pretty quickly. I can fall asleep but wake up a few hours later, so I haven't really been getting much sleep.

Aw, Dude, that's So beat! If I were you I'd take NyQuil AND Advil. Or a shot of some liquor - knock yourself OUT! Do you have to sleep, like, sitting up?

Cindy- I'm so sorry you are having so much trouble with your ears. Man that really stinks. You must have gotten hit by some kind of superbug that's resistant to antibiotics. I hope you're feeling better soon, and I'm really impressed that you've been continuing to run.

Cindy: I hope the new drugs work for you. It gives me new sympathy for the little kiddos I see with infected ears.

Chester: I was also pretty confused by the giraffe comment, I had thoughts of ou running through Animal Kingdom or something...

Cindy: I hope you continue to feel better. Ear infections really do suck  I'm impressed you were able to get in 8 miles while feeling sick.

Don't be impressed. The only day I ran was Sunday and I was actually feeling somewhat better then. I started feeling worse yesterday. There is no way in hell I would have run Fri, Sat, Mon, or today.

So I haven't run since last week either. Man, I'm getting antsy to get moving. Cindy- Are you still planning on running in the National Marathon?

OK, I have to ask - those of you that listen to the DIS Unplugged Podcast (and you know who you are - Jodi, Cindy, Jen, Butch, Lou?), have you gotten your shirts for the Give Kids the World fundraiser?

http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-podcast/shirts.cfm

In case you missed the recent shows, a listener has generously announced they would match all donations up to $20k. So the podcast folks are trying to raise $20k in order to donate $40k to GKTW. Check it out if you're interested. I can give you more information on the cause if you have questions. It's a great organization.

Ola! I donated double platelets and plasma this afternoon so no Gym for me tonight.

Cindy~ I hope you have turned the corner and are feeling much better by now.

I did want to announce that I have registered for the ING New York City Marathon which will be held on November 1, 2009. :cool1:  :dance3: :cheer2: :upsidedow I registered with Judy's DH (Charlie) and we hope to be selected through the lottery this spring. I know the odds of both of us getting chosen for this year (or any year together) are slim. However, we are individually looking forward to this. Has any BOTty here run the NYC Marathon before? I'd appreciate some inside info on how to get to the start, from the finish, etc. Thank you!

Oh yes, I think I have committed myself to running the Marine Corps Marathon again this fall. To date, it is my PR (4:10:39) and I'd like to break 4 hours there.

Have a great evening!

:grouphug:

Evening, Bots!:lovestruc

Not much to report in my neck of the woods. I ran today, I ran yesterday, and 3 miles seems to be the magic number lately  . Wow, I see the Western States 100 in my future!:rotfl2: I feel a bit tight & will definitely need to get a massage sometimes in the very near future. I think I may even try & get up tomorrow a.m. & run early since it isn't going to be too cold!

Dave - I know, I know, I've got to order my dang shirt! Rest assured, I will. Not up to running yet? RU you thinking about the Yeti run again this year?

Howard - Funny you mention NYC, I just signed up for it yesterday! I got an email letting me know that I had a guaranteed entry because I didn't get in in '06, '07, & '08!:headache: That would be too cool if you & Charlie got in  . Logistically speaking, it's supposedly a nightmare. I plan to stay @ my mom's the night before, then head in early. They have busses in various parts of the City that take you to the starting line. One of those busses is right outside of Grand Central. I know the town where Charlie & Judy live, and given its close proximity to NYC, I would think that you could get up in the a.m. & head in. Don't forget, the marathon doesn't start until 10:30 or something, so...I'd poke around on the marathon's boards (that's what I planto do) to get a gist of what "local" people do.

What about the rest of you Bots??? Anyone else gonna throw their hat into the lottery? Come on you tools?? Allright, at least put in for the NYC 1/2. It's on August 30 this year :confused3 . It's the least you guys could do since you ALL blew me off for the relay. BTW, on our flight back from the cruise some dude was wearing a RTB relay shirt so Bruce asked him a few questions. He said that it was a blast; adult partying; not much running!:woohoo: . Bruce was all pumped up, then I told him that no one was going to participate. He called you guys some names under his breath & shook his head like this.:sad2:

Howdy Everyone: I ran yesterday! First time in a week - a huge 2 Miles... Wow, Jodi I hope I can build up to your mileage so I can do the Western States 100 too. Actually, after my "procedure" last week, I got smacked with some sort of virus that's going around. I came down with some GI trouble and major chills, and then it changed into a head cold that I still have. My 2 miler felt like I was running through sand, and I had no endurance whatsoever. I'll be fine once I kick this cold, and I'm looking forward to starting to build up my mileage for Pittsburgh.

Hey Everyone!

I guess I've been kind of AWOL this week. DD8 was sick the for a few days and that just threw everything all out of whack.

Jodi - Sorry that we broke The Cloud's heart. Can we try again another year because that does sound like a lot of fun?

Do you sttill find yourself looking for the midnight buffett?

Again, what's up with the running everyday thing? You trying for one of those streaks or something?

Dave - Good to hear you're back on the roads again. Hopefully, you can kick your infirmity quickly.

Cindy - You feeling human yet?

Confession time. Part of the reason I didn't get around to posting was that damn Mario Kart. After way too many attempts at getting the 1st place in the last cup (switching karts and bikes, etc.) I decided to scrap my Mii and get radical. I ended up using Toad and some stupid little duck bike and got the Gold on my second try.:confused3

Chester - I guess I was the only one that knew what your giraffe story meant. Perfectly clear and dang scarry that I understood.

Every four weeks? You must be enrolled in the frequent flyer plan.

Jen - Are you getting excited about the Princess Half yet?

Howard - PF still under control?

You're killing me with the MCM entry. I'm putting all my eggs in one fall marathon and running Richmond in mid-November. Hey, that would fit nicely for a MCM, NYC, Richmond trifecta for you.

Kathy stumbled across this video. You and I cross the half finish line at about 4:47 of the video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VObIB_-f7Hg

AFM, I've been running and XT this week. Today was a rest day and I'm shooting for 18 miles in the morning. I'm hoping it goes well.

Lastly, Kathy and I ordered one of those posters at WDW where they use all the little race pictures to make one big picture of Minnie and Mickey breaking the tape. I'm not sure if any of you have ordered one before, but they send it with a key that shows where your picture is. Anyways, we got ours yesterday. I look at Row 31, Column 6 for my picture and what do I see? None other than our beloved Mr. Keener!! Somehow, out of the 14,000 wrong people they could have picked they got Howard!

I couldn't resist a quick response to this.

Matt actually just unlocked the mirror cups last night. He did it with Funky Kong and a kart (he has always used bikes in the past). I've given up trying to get gold on the special cup - it's just too damn hard - and started doing the time trials (if you didn't know, there are lots of bikes, karts, and characters that you can unlock by just completing those and then by unlocking the "fast staff" ghosts (by beating the regular ghost by a certain number of seconds)). It is serioulsy addictive - I get ridiculously excited when I unlock something else. I haven't played since Sunday, but I'm sure I'll play this weekend.

ok - back to work.

Oh My Nerve you guys are FREAKS!!! My son LOVES reading your comments about MarioKart, it makes him feel weird, though. He can't believe that adults are actually talking about such things!:thumbsup2

Mike - 18 MILES???:scared1: Are you sure you didn't mean to type 18minutes?? Why oh why would you run so far??:sad1: How's the little princess feeling now? Which ailment did she have? There are so many going around.

I'm over missing the midnight buffet. I actually got sick of eating, if you can believe that?

I ran AGAIN today, aren't you impressed? And it was 5 miles! I broke out of the 3 mile rut! Finally.:rotfl2: I'm sure I'm ready for another ultra this spring :rolleyes1 . RU going to put in for either NYC race  :flower3: ??

Cindy - How are your ears? Will you put in for NYC?

I'm waiting for replies from the rest of you toads. Where is everyone lately? In a no-marathon-coming-up-for-me-so-I-won't-post-funk??

I went ahead & booked my room @ OKW for the marathon weekend in Jan. Spencer is still saying he wants to run the 1/2; and now my mom is saying that if he runs it, she'll run it again (even though she swore off ever doing it again last month) . I was toying w/ the idea of Goofy again, but then thought...WHY? I'll just do the 1/2.

Dave - Nice job on those 2!! Way to get "back in the saddle", as it were!

Oh, that's a question I had. Mike, when you went back on the course to find Kathy during the 1/2, how'd you do it? Don't they stop you from going back out there?

I'm still looking for a local 1/2 to make my mark & break that 2 hour thing I got goin' on. Otherwise, not much on the event-horizon for me. Except maybe a few local 5ks. Also, I think I might volunteer @ that Ultra I ran last year.:yay:

OK, here's a totally off-topic question I have for you guys.

Should I foster a dog?

Here's the deal. There's this dog about 1/2 hour from my house. They brought him up from GA in April & found out he was full of cancer. They didn't think he'd make it, but surprise, he's still around. He's in a foster house now, but there are 4 other, active dogs there (he's 15) & they're looking for something a little calmer. My dog's a tic & would be fine with him.
Basically this dog is FTD & they think he's got less than a year to go.

I did this once before & the old dog ended up living for 1 1/2 years!! I just have a soft spot for the seniors. Everybody wants puppies but no one cares about the old bags!

So should I totally disrupt the entire household & take this ol' guy in? or let him croak where he's at?
