~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Colleen - For all I know you could be up north this week celebrating without internet access but if you're not, I hope you guys have a great holiday week:cheer2: .

I will refrain from getting sappy but I do hope everyone has a memorable time with those nearest and dearest to them this week:grouphug: .

No Sara, I am here in NC. Actually this is the first year that we have stayed home since we moved to NC 7 years ago. We have a some neat things planned after Christmas for the kids. DH and I are really looking forward to marathon weekend together and of course seeing most of you again.:grouphug:

Now on to training, I planned for 18 miles today, got in 14 before I said I QUIT! My shoes were giving me some problems, these are the new shoes I bought before Philly and I decided to ditch them for my old shoes, which I am glad I did. My left heel was/is really hurting, I am icing it now. I don't think it is PF, I have never had this problem before. We will see. Maybe I will be back to Fleetfeet in the next few days.

Happy Holidays my friends!:lovestruc

MERRY/HAPPY - WHATEVER YOU CELEBRATE :cutie:

HAVE A GREAT DAY, GUYS!:grouphug:

Thinking of all my Bot friends on this Christmas day. I hope you are all have a restive and relaxing holiday with your friends, family, and loved ones however you decide to celebrate it.

Here's our Christmas scene in Rochester.

Good afternoon friends and fellow Bots!

I hope everyone is enjoying their time off today, spending time with loved ones and thinking about the good times ahead in Walt Disney World during the Marathon weekend that awaits.

I took a short run this afternoon with my DS (Andrew). He is running the 5K with me on Friday and this was one of his only "training runs". He managed 5 tough miles. I ran 6 easy ones with an overall pace of 9:10. My PF discomfort was mild (maybe a 2- on a 1 to 10 scale). I think I could easily run a half with this discomfort. I am hoping I can stretch that out to the marathon also.

I am looking forward to my run with Lou this weekend. Are we still on? When and where would you like to meet me? I think if I can keep somewhere around a 9 to 9:30 minute pace for the run this weekend, I'd be happy (very happy).

Dave~ Your Syracuse Christmas looks beautiful, but way too cold for me.

Have a great evening and wonderful Friday! I have to work tomorrow, but it should be a good day to catch up on some things. Most of my department will be out on vacation tomorrow. While I am on the subject, I was officially appointed the Director of Marketing for the Blood Bank of Delmarva this week. The President/CEO announced it to the department Directors at a meeting earlier this week. An e-mail announcement will be going out to all of the staff at our three permanent sites this coming week.

I took over as an interim candidate for the position in September. They have been given more than enough evidence that I can do the job so they gave me the official title and the $ to go with it. I am blessed to be where I am and I know it. I really enjoy my work too which is a bonus in itself.

We are going to see a 5 PM showing of "Bedtime Stories" with the kids. It should be fun. Have a great evening!

Merry Christmas everyone. We had a nice, family filled day. We are heading down to run a few miles (it will in no way make up for the extra calories we ate today, but whatever).

I got the Bingham book "The Courage to Start" for Christmas and have been having fun reading it-- tough to put it down to actually run, how stupid is that.

Dave: loving the snow scenes, careful or you will us on your doorstep with a sled and a 5 year old eager to play

Merry Christmas as Appropriate (If does not apply, I hope you had a darn good 25th).

Howard - Congratulations on the official position!

Jen - There was a time when at least 3/4 of WISH folks had read "The Courage to Start" and claimed it to be a major motivation (I'm not so sure nowadays with so many new people). It got me all fired up when I first read it.

Dave - Loved the pics. I think we've had one, maybe two white Christmas' of the 18 we've spent in VA.

Colleen - Did you edit your post?? History revisionist! Well, I'll skip the "sappy" part and just ask how your heel is today.

Sara - I hope everyone is on the road to recovery and you all were able to enjoy your day.

Remember everyone, a balanced diet is the most important thing to maintain this time of year. Of course...

A BALANCED DIET MEANS A COOKIE IN EACH HAND!

Colleen - Did you edit your post??

Ah, yeah, I am a woman, I have the right to change my mind!:rotfl:

Yoga for me this morning, maybe 3 or 4 miles walking later. The kids have friends over today, so it will give me a chance to do some housecleaning.:thumbsup2

Howard, how was Bedtime Stories? I am looking for a good movie to see tomorrow. I was thinking about "The Tale of Despereaux", since both kids have read to book.

who has friends." Clarence, "It's a Wonderful Life".

Greetings my friends,

We have a tradition in my family of watching "It's a Wonderful Life" on Christmas Eve. It's one of my favorite movies, and Christmas Eve is also my birthday so I really enjoy watching it after the kids go to bed with my DW. Well, this year we were busy on Christmas Eve, and we saved the movie for Christmas Day. We had the girls, DD7 pooh: and DD10 princess:, join us to watch the movie for the first time. It was a great way to end the evening, and really reminded me of why I watch the movie.

The quote the Clarence writes in the edition of Tom Sawyer given to George Bailey really gets me every time. It's a quote that I used as the dedication when I wrote my PhD thesis. I have an ongoing battle with depression, and often forget about my support net when I am in a dark place.

It was good for me to remember the quote again, and it made me think of my friends here. I feel truly fortunate to have such a great group of friends here on the DIS and especially here on the WISH boards and BOT Battalion. I am thankful for all of you, and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Be well.

Dave - Awesome movie and quote. I love the movie as well. It used to be on all the time until someone bought the rights to it and now I never see it. I think I'll be buying it on DVD this year because you cannot see it enough.

Howard - Sun still looks good. Do you want to plan for a 7AM-7:30AM start? We could meet near boathouse row. I'll be in Baltimore all day tomorrow but I'll have my cell. Lets plan on touching base tomorrow to firm things up and see how the weather looks.

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday!!!

Our Christmas Eve tradition is to go to the 4PM "kid's mass" at St. Monica's in South Philadelphia. Nicole and I lived in South Philly for 9 years and, although our kids don't remember much about the neighborhood, this church is one place we miss a lot. The kids mass is nice because they incorporate the 6th graders into the mass. There was a kids choir that sang and the kids also reenacted the nativity scene as the priest read from the Gospel. The mass always ends with Santa walking into the back of the church after communion, walking down the center aisle and kneeling before the nativity at the altar.

Ran 5 miles at 7:47 mpm pace today. I felt a little inspired. Decided to totally change up the running plan for 2009. No marathons in the spring. I am going to train hard for the Broad St Run (10-miler) in early May. A lot of family and friends and running it this year and I want to throw up a fast time. I figure I'll run some 5ks, 10ks, and 1/2 marathons from Jan to Apr to get ready for it. Then I'll spend the summer training for a major fall/winter marathon (NYC or WDW). How's that sound?

Lou~

I hope you aren't planning to be "inspired" out there with me on Sunday. :lmao:  I would lose you pretty quickly. 7:30 AM sounds good as it will take me a good 45 minutes to get up there. Is there parking along Boat House Row? I am afraid I don't remember from running by during the Marathon. I was a bit distracted, you know, putting one foot in front of the other in an effort to finish. It looks like we'll have very mild conditions, possible rain though. I hope that isn't a deal breaker. You have my cell number, give me a call when you have a chance tomorrow. We'll be home entertaining most of the day so call whenever you can.

Colleen~ We really enjoyed "Bedtime Stories"! A true Disney flick with good guys, bad guys, fantasy, a beautiful princess (of sorts), etc. I think you'll like it.

Thanks to everyone who congratulated me on my official new position! I have my work cut out for me, but it will be fun. I've prepared an awefully long time to get here.

Good Evening to You All,

Just a quick check in.

I ended up doing a 20 miler this morning. I wasn't really planning on going more than 18 when I put my training plan together but it somehow just didn't seem right not to hit the big 2-0 prior to Disney.

I realize at this point that it really makes no difference physically (other than burning off 1 extra cookie's worth of calories) but it feels better mentally somehow.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Howard- I missed your announcement before. Congratulations on the new position! That's fantastic!

Jen- Our door is always open to fellow WISHers, and DD7 pooh: loves playmates. I really enjoyed reading "The Courage to Start" when I was training for my first marathon (Disney 07). Make sure you read the last couple of chapters before going to Disney. They were really inspiring for me.

Good Morning Everyone: :surfweb: Well, I was going to do my LR this morning, but I woke up to wind and rain. I can run in snow, but I don't do rain. However, now I'm up - so I gotta check to see how my Bots are doing.

Colleen- let me know what movie you decide on. DD7 pooh: and DD10 princess: read "Tale of Despereux", and are interested in seeing it too.

Mike- Wow, congratulations on getting the 20 miler in. Your training and fitness are impressive.

Howard and Lou- Have fun with your 18 miles today.

Jodi- You out there? Whasssup?

Cindy- How you doin...?

Hi Chester :wave2:

OK, that's all for now.

Colleen- let me know what movie you decide on. DD7 pooh: and DD10 princess: read "Tale of Despereux", and are interested in seeing it too.

Good morning Dave, yes, I will let you know. WE will probably hit a movie today after we go to the running store to get help with my shoes, body glide for DH and gels! WOW, I just realized, two weeks from today.............awe!!!  I am getting excited.

JOdi, how are things? So the cloud will not be making the trip down, correct? Tell him I will miss his ...um, ....miss him.:rolleyes1 So which family members will be running the half?

Sara, any sleep yet with the new puppy? I am so ready for a puppy, but Jeff has vetoed the idea big time.

Mike, wow, 20 miles. So DH thinks you should ditch Goofy and run the full with him.:thumbsup2 Which reminds me, I promised you a BQ training plan. Let me think. I have to find the right marathon too. Oh, which reminds me, my sister and her hubby are running Phoenix marathon the weekend after Disney. This will be her fourth attempt to BQ, she needs a 3:50 and has been anywhere from a 3:57 to 4:06 in her four attempts.

Howard, yes, congrats on your new position. Very well deserved, you worked hard for that!

Lou and Howard, have fun, but take it easy.

Jen, so are you ready? How were your 20 miles?

CindyLouWHo, where are you? Miss you girl.

DH is out for his 20 miler. I hope he is doing well. He loaded down on the V8 yesterday:rotfl: and I made him a nice carb dinner and his favorite cookies last night so I think he will have a nice run today. I am such a good wife.:lovestruc

I plan to get in 5 today.

JOdi, how are things? So the cloud will not be making the trip down, correct? Tell him I will miss his ...um, ....miss him.:rolleyes1 So which family members will be running the half?

I'm just locking in this little ditty so that you can't have Quad-drooling remorse and edit it away!

Happy Saturday:cheer2:

Admittedly, not caught up on the thread:rolleyes1 but did catch a few things:thumbsup2

Howard - Congrats on the new job:yay: How wonderful for you and I know how much more it means since it's an organization you support from a non-work perspective:goodvibes which makes it that much more satisfying!! They're definitely lucky to have you and I hope it's a career that brings you many years of satisfaction:hug:

Dave - Thanks for sharing the quote and the accompanying sentiment:hug: I never really got the details but I assume I'll be seeing you in a few weeks:cloud9: . We can have an impromptu mutual 40th birthday toast at some point:banana:

Colleen - My puppy is draining but I'll admit to needing a lesson in unconditional loving and being a bit more selfless so she's good for me:laughing: . Don't worry about DH nixing the idea. My DD's who begged for a puppy forever are SO over her and it's basically my dog with a little DH thrown in there. Congrats on the LR:cool1: and you are too sweet for taking such good care of DH:love:

Mike - 20 miles:worship: - I'm living quite vicariously through you:confused: No hitting the big 2-0 prior to WDW in my future:rolleyes:

Lou
- Glad you're feeling inspired and your 2009 plan sounds great:thumbsup2 I can see why you'd miss your old Church with such a special Christmas Eve service.

Jen - What a great time to get some inspiration through a John Bingham book:goodvibes

I did run on Christmas but was stricken with the stomach virus yesterday and it wasn't pleasant. Feeling better today so we'll see how it goes with 5 today. Tomorrow's looking to be 50+ degrees where I am so I'll get in my LR then.

Dave: thanks for the open door offer, we actually have family in the Rochester area and have not made it up to visit in a shamelessly long time, so hopefully your pictures will inspire us to do some visiting and snow seeking

Sara: sorry to hear about the stomach thing, I had it and it was brutal, careful when you try to run-- I would think I was better only to get a mile or two in and feel really nauseous again  I hope you recover faster than I did

My 20 miler went ok-- not great but not as bad as the week before, so I'll take it, I'm hoping I can kick up the speed a little in the actual race but was still on target to finish sub 6 hours which would be ok by me (I can't compete with ya'll trying to Boston qualify)

I'm debating doing a 5K on New Years Day-- on the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ, could be fun and would then count as my run for the day...
