~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Dave: I love the pictures. It is tough running conditions, but beautiful! Congrats on getting out. Thanks for pointing out the 5K thread-- unfortunately I was the 2nd pm, so I doubt I'll be able to run it, but at least I tried :confused3

As for me, I got in my last long run last night- 20 miles done (although a bit on the slow side). I am still on the tail end of a respiratory bug but at least I wasn't nauseous on this run so things are looking up. I have last minute grocery shopping to do today to prepare for the invasion of in-laws and cousins tomorrow and on Christmas day-- should be crazy but fun.

Cindy - You are definitely one of the most dedicated runners I know. 16 in the cold and wind. Wow!

Jen - The stomach flu is going around. DS got it and now Nicole. I know the bug is out there for me next. Rest up and I hope you feel better.

Dave - I guess I can't complain about bad weather when I look at those pics. I hate the TM but if I were you I think I would build a home theater utopia in my basement and drop a TM in the middle. You'll have quads like Bruce if you keep running in that stuff.

Howard and Cam - Glad you enjoyed your trip! Sounds like such an awesome time. It must be rough coming home to this miserable weather.

Howard - I'm looking good for 12/28. Assuming we get out early I should be fine. Now, I am not one to run if it gets WAY below freezing so the weather would be my only issue. Since I am not training for anything I'm not about to torture myself in 20-degree temps. Let's look at the weather the day after Christmas and make a decision. Also, keep in mind I have not run longer than 7 miles since Philly so I will be struggling to keep up with you on an 18 mile LR. You may need to down shift a gear or two for me.

Chester - I am finding more and more companies that are closing for the holidays. Is that something your firm does every year or is it due to the economy?

Colleen - I'm with you. Cold and wind make the TM next to the kitty litter look so much more inviting. Your kids must enjoy the fact they they can swim year round.

Mike - Good job with the 6 miles in the cold.

Jodi - What's new?

Hey Sara! It must be insane cold in your neck of the woods.

Did I miss anyone?

Minimal running for me. I'm doing 4 mile TM runs every day just to try to stay remotely in shape. Hard to do when there are cookies all over the house. I think this Ocean Drive race will be the next challenge for me. It will give me something to train for after I get through the holidays. Anyone else out there want to join me? Come on...someone else must be insane enough to want to run 26 miles into the wind in March.

Lou

Hi Lou- I've been doing pretty much the same running as you - 3 mile TM runs are the norm for me (just because that's what I can squeeze in at work). However, I try to get outside when I can. The snow's not so bad as long as you gear up for it. I got some yaktrax that really help give me traction. I've been trying to go a little longer on the weekends just to keep some endurance up. I like to try to keep in half marathon shape year round.

Where is everyone else?

I think I hear crickets chirping on this thread.

Where's the cricket smilie?

Lou~ I am up for the run and can make it as early as you'd like. I have not been running (at all to rest the PF) and will need to "get the miles in" and will enjoy whatever pace we can put together. I have no expectations at this point. I certainly will not have to down shift for you, I am thinking the opposite.

We are getting together with friends on Sunday (at some point) so it would be good to meet up relatively early and get this puppy in the record books. I am really looking forward to having you as a running partner. If the weather is any worse than the Philadelphia Marathon, let's be in touch and call it off for that day. I'm not crazy and I don't expect you to endure frigid temperatures for me.

Hi to all my McPhilaBot friends!!!! :wave2: Happy Hanukkah! Merry Christmas! Happy Boxing Day! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy First of Muharram! Happy New Year!

Let the crickets be silenced!

:grouphug:

Good luck with the 20 miler!* Nice cool weather for it!
Chester - Enjoy the break, or the opportunity to restock the race fund as the case may be.* Did you get your 20 miles in?
Chester- did you get your 20 miler in?

I got the 20 in this morning. Instead of running 8 miles to a park and then doing a couple laps around the lake and then running back, I decided to drive to the park. One lap around the lake = 1.4 miles - so I did just shy of 15 laps. By driving to the park, I didn't have to carry several bottles of water because there are water fountains at the baseball and soccer fields. My legs really fealt heavy after 14 miles so I walked a couple of laps and then was able to run out the rest. Weather was really great - upper 60's to low 70's with a pretty stiff breeze from the South. I guess taper is officially underway.
Chester - I am finding more and more companies that are closing for the holidays.* Is that something your firm does every year or is it due to the economy?

We did this last year because most of the people were typically using their vacation days to take off between Christmas and New years anyway. Business has really dropped off between the holidays lately. The only ones who are working through the Holidays are our Superintendants who have projects under construction. They will be granted time off when their projects are completed.

Right now the beginning of the year is looking bleak. We do have a large project just underway in Mississipi, but there is nothing on the boards now. I have to take all the freelance work that comes my way just in case things get worse.

Happy training to all and Merry Christmas Eve Eve.

Chester

I have been a bad Bot lately.:sad2: I'm totally behind.

Basically, I've been doing nothing but working. Still at work right now and it looks to be a long night . . .

Matt and I are headed to the airport tomorrow at 5:45 AM, so I just wanted to make sure I got the chance to pop in here and wish you all a very happy holiday!:santa:
And thank you all for a fun year on the thread!

We will be in San Diego at Matt's parents until the 31st. I'll try to get on the computer when I can. Life should calm down for me next year, so I will most definitely catch up with everyone then! Actually, I guess I will be seeing most of you in 2 and a half weeks:scared1:

Merry Christmas!

Good Evening Bots;

I'm here, just not posting...no reason, just busy with Christmas crud.

Ran 4 today, CT @ gym yesterday, I think that's it. Oh yeah, MRI said no break in the foot, just tendinitis :confused3 . What a lame injury, I was hoping for something cool & graphically disturbing like an open tib-fib fracture for the holidays :rotfl: . Seriously, though, I'm relieve that I can just keep running & taking Advil!

Will definitely post more tomorrow as I'm not working!

CindyLouWho - Travel safe & STOP WORKING!!!!

:rolleyes1 I could have swore I sent JODI a text this morning telling her to share that my DD's infected my WORK computer with a nice Trojan virus:eek: :scared: so I've been offline since Saturday:headache: and not to worry that I'd be back ASAP:love:. I'm trying to catch up on the hundreds of work e-mails I've gotten so I won't be able to post intelligently here until tomorrow:confused3 .

I hope everyone's doing well:grouphug: and safe travels to all this week:thumbsup2 !

O.K. You guys are totally pissing me off!

I compose a wonderfully crafted post in my head about why everyone is so busy and unable to post while I'm getting ready for work tonight. I get here and look! Most of you absentee Bots post! :furious:

Oh well, it's nice to hear from you all anyway.

Dave - Let me be the first here to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!:bday:

Sara - I'm confused. I always thought Trojans were for protection?:confused3

Chester - 15 laps to get your 20 miles in is nuts! My hat's off to you. I hope business picks up after the new year.

ChiChi - Sorry to hear there's no broken bones. Maybe next time.

Cindy - Safe travels. Enjoy the time off.

Happy waves to everyone else.

Nothing too exciting for me to report. I did 6 miles on the TM tonight. Probably won't be much running for the next couple of days with all the holiday hub-bub.

See ya all.

Lou -- You are just so clever and sweet! LOVE the Bot greeting.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Lou: I love it!!! :lmao: :thumbsup2

Merry Christmas to all the bots-- happy hannukah, etc...

Have a great holiday everyone... stay safe.

Merry Christmas to my fave Bots:love:

I can't catch a break these days. DD11 has the flu real bad, as does my Mom so Christmas celebrations will be delayed until Saturday:rolleyes1 . I'm not feeling too swell myself - if it's not one virus it's another these days:confused3 .

Chester - Congrats on the 20 :cheer2: - enjoy your taper:thumbsup2

Mike - True to form:rolleyes1 with the commentary. Have a wonderful holiday with your fam.

Jodi - Okay, I won't take it personally:hug: Lots of holiday cheer to you & Bruce:banana: .

Lou - Love the Christmas Bot:laughing: Enjoy your holidays:yay:

Howard - I haven't read enough to know how the WDW trip went but I'm assuming it was wonderful:cloud9: . Hope the PF is behind you now that you've given it a good dose of rest:wizard:

Cindy - Hoping your travels were uneventful and the time in San Diego exceeds your expectations.

Dave - HAPPY BIRTHDAY:cake: Thanks for sharing the snow pics. Ditto here:sad2:

Jen - Wishing you a very Merry Christmas:thumbsup2

Colleen - For all I know you could be up north this week celebrating without internet access but if you're not, I hope you guys have a great holiday week:cheer2: .

I will refrain from getting sappy but I do hope everyone has a memorable time with those nearest and dearest to them this week:grouphug: .

Merry Christmas!

Happy Chanukah!

Happy Holidays!

Wishing you all the best, my friends. I have been away for a while, but I shall be around more often very soon. All my best to you and your families this holiday season :goodvibes
