The Boathouse Opening & Amphicar Pricing

20 minutes! I feel like you're just getting the hang of how to work it after 20 minutes.

I think I'm gonna splurge and try it for my birthday in September!

Wow, really expensive.

You can do a tour like this in DC for $35 a person ($25 for kids). DC Duck Tours. It tours you around the streets of DC, then go into the water and shows you more sites that way. And it's 90 minutes long. And you're actually looking at something, unlike this one.

Same in the Dells...that price is INSANE for 20 mins.

That price is ridiculous. The video is a hoot, though.

Looks like the food is going to be too expensive for my preference too. Any non signatures coming to DTD?

OMG, I remember seeing an amphicar driving out of the ocean in Newport, RI when I was a little kid; never heard of or saw another one until now.
Everything old is new again!:rotfl: Not sure if I would cough up $100 for the brief expierience, but I'm sure many will.

I live close to a large lake, and happened to know a family that owned an Amphicar growing up. I got to ride it a couple times as it went down the ramp and into the water and taxied out to their houseboat. While it was kind of neat, the most fun was knowing that hundreds of eyes from gaping onlookers were on us as we entered the water. But it's not exactly a speedboat in the water and not the most aerodynamic vehicle on land either. I would never pay what they're asking. It's not quite a Bond toy. But if you can see one entering the water, it's worth the time, and hopefully that at least is free.

Duck tours are not the same thing. Much larger vehicles and more people aboard. There will be plenty of folks who will pay this for the novelty of having a "private" vehicle that you don't really see anywhere else take you on a tour.

True, smaller boat if that is important to you. Also not the same thing because on the DC Duck Tour you are actually looking at something. Oh yeah, and over an hour longer experience.

This one is not about what you look at, it's about the vehicle. And there will be those who will pay because they like the vehicles. Likely enough of them to sustain the business. I"m certainly not planning on it though, nor would I consider it unless I can split the cost with 2 other passengers.
