Arriving around 1 at old key West . large group so probably multiple reservations.

Tell me about The boathouse. Good selection for a large variety of tastes?

Does anyone have any experience with requesting multiple tables close by . also how is outside?

We've eaten there many times, but have never had a reservation. Largest party was 8 people and we sat together without an issue. Food has been consistently good, as has the service. Their menu is online so you can see it, though they change it up some with the seasons/ingredient availability.

We ate outside once but I think there are several sections of outdoor seating available. They always ask if we want inside, outside, or first available when we check in so you could inquire then about the wait time difference based on your party size.

If you're making reservations, I would definitely aim to get one for the entire party. You can make them on Open Table for a party of up to 10. If you have more than 10, I'd call the restaurant directly about arranging a time in advance.

We have done a walk up but there are only two of us. I would make a reservation for a large group and they have large tables that held I would guess 10, so you may be able to do one reservation. Not sure how large your group is. I’m from New England so we get some great seafood here. I thought it was just ok. I worked in red lobster in college I thought the quality was similar.

We had a lovely dinner on the back porch. Loved the burger, Mac n cheese and truffle fries.

We enjoy the Boathouse - good food and service has always been excellent. Just an FYI you can make reservations on Open Table as well as through MDE. I've found in the past that the Open Table reservations open up a lot earlier than on MDE, so it's really easy to get a reservation that way.

I worked in red lobster in college I thought the quality was similar.

Red Lobster is a perfect comparison IMO in terms of menu variety and overall experience. We found the quality of food at the Boathouse to be a step up from Red Lobster, but otherwise this pretty much hits the nail on the head.

We LOVE the Boathouse. It's super consistent... love the service and the food. Outdoor is great if it's not too hot. Make time to walk down to the dock past the "floating" bar, and check out the antique boats. They are very unique and beautiful.

Boathouse is one of my favorites! They have lots of outdoor seating, and in December it should be nice. IIRC one of their servers told me they have more outdoor seating that indoor. For a larger group I might make a reservation, though if you go in the down time between lunch and dinner you might be able to talk up and sit together. And OpenTable is much easier to navigate than MDE.

Good selection of food (if you like seafood), and good quality.

The Boat House is one of the top restaurants available at Disney. I have not had more than 6 and had no problem with reservations way ahead of time. This is one of my most favorite restaurants and make sure I go evertime we are visiting WDW at least 4 times a year.

We are there last week on our arrival day after checking in at Old Key West. We made a reservation on Open Table and when we checked in they asked us outdoor or indoors. We asked for outdoors and it was lovely. We thought the meal was fine. Our server was very knowledgeable but quite slow.
