I just found out there is a boat that travels between the two parks. Where do you board it and is it a good means fo transport without getting on the buses?? Any info would be helpful...

The boat stops at Ecpot,BW,BC/YC,Swan/Dophin, MGM then back again.

:p :bounce: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

When we stayed at the Yacht Club we loved using those boats! It was one of the best things about staying at the Yacht Club. It makes moving from Epcot/MGM/ Boardwalk and the Yacht Club very easy. I can't recall where you board from Epcot, but I'm sure others will.

You board the boat right outside the International Gateway, off to the left. You then disembark at one of the resorts, only to board another boat that goes to MGM. It goes like this: Epcot to resorts. MGM from resorts to MGM. They don't run directly between the two parks.

You don't need to disembark/change boats to get between Epcot and MGM. The route is EPCOT, BW, YC/BC, Swan/Dolphin, MGM, Swan/Dolphin, YC/BC, BW, EPCOT and so on. The trip from IG dock to MGM dock is about 30 minutes, once it gets going.

FWIW, there is a direct bus between EPCOT and MGM. It takes about 10 minutes, once you get going. The bus stop is at the main EPCOT entrance - same place as the resort buses load and unload.

Carol,
We had to leave the Epcot boat and board another for MGM.
They even have separate ramps for these at BW. One says MGM the other Epcot.

Feb. of this year, we took the boat from MGM to EPCOT and stayed on the same boat, for the whole trip. A couple of years ago,you had to change boats, as Gail mentions.

From the dock at MGM, to the dock at the International Gateway at EPCOT, it took 24 minutes in Feb..

Sorry Gail, I have to disagree with you as well :( How about you stick to OKW transportation :jester:

My son and I took the boat from MGM to Epcot in August 2001. We didn't have to change boats. It may not be the quickest way to get there, but it is very relaxing.

We started using this boat transportation in 1999 and have never had need to switch boats. They make continuous trips between the 2 parks with stops at all three resort areas in each direction as posted by CarolMN.

AS mentioned earlier, realize these boats are SLOW!!!

The captains are fun and joke around alot, but the first time I took the boat, I thought it would never get to MGM.

Thanks for the info everyone..it is appreciated. I am unfamiliar with that boat system and would have had no clue that it stopped at the resorts too....

yes, this is the slowest boat ride!

allow at least 30 minutes, once you're on the boat to get from Epcot to MGM.

when going from MGM to Epcot World Showcase, we actually found it faster to board the Epcot bus at MGM, take the bus to the stop outside Future World, walk all the way through Future World!

we walk fast though, 'cause we're used to that in NYC!

Hey, not a problem, except I rarely use it. :)

I swear in Sept. I was made to disembark and get on another boat. I remember this only cause I was not amused and it took FOREVER to get to MGM from Epcot.

Just another reason to rent a car.

Perhaps that particular boat was going out of service? Just a thought...
