The Boardwalk Inn Information Thread

I have read in some guide books about a small separate building that requires room keys to enter. Has anyone stayed in this building and how are the rooms? It seems that this location wouldn't be as nice as in the main building. Can you request not to have these rooms?

Could it be the garden suites that you read about? These suites are located in the garden area (hence the name!). This is a specific category of room (and very expensive), so you wouldn't get these unless you book them (I would imagine free upgrades to these are rare indeed). This is the only room type that I can think of that is somewhat separate, but maybe someone else has some ideas.

You can certainly request not to be placed there (of course there aren't any guarantees )

I'm going to book a waterview room for our October trip and I'm wondering if there are any king rooms in that category?

Also, I'm going to request a boardwalk view but, from reading this thread, it seems many of the boardwalk facing rooms are concierge. Can we get a standard waterview room that faces the boardwalk or will be end up facing the pool or something like that because we aren't concierge? Do I need to upgrade to get this view?

We had a standard waterview/boardwalk room on our last trip, and we booked the same again for our upcoming. We had two beds rather than a king, but our room was over the Flying Fish and our balcony was right where a lot of the action would happen. The cowgirl, the magician etc. would perform right below us and my kids loved it.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll need to be very specific that the boardwalk view is the priority request and, if possible, a king bed.

How many floors does the BWI have? Do the rooms on higher floors have better views? How are the rooms on the lower floors and at ground lever? Do they all have balconies or patios? We have booked a standard view room. I am trying to decide whether to make requests or just take what we are asigned. Since this is our first time at the BWI, we really don't know what to ask for. I know we won't have Boardwalk view because we did not purchase that view. I just don't know what to expect as far as standard view goes.

BWI has 5 floors. We just returned yesterday from our fifth stay there! It is wonderful! We always request a higher floor, non-smoking, the bed type we want...and we have gotten it. We have had a standard view two times and they were both great. One was a view of the garden suites and had a view of EPCOT and Illuminations along with it. This past trip was a view of the entrance with MGM in the background...and Fantasmic Fireworks behind that. Both times we were on the 5th floor and loved it. Enjoy your trip to the BWI! We love it!

Just don't request ground floor. We booked a standard view room onthe ground (first) floor and ended up with our patio sitting where the busses for ME are. The bus fumes were terrible so we couldn't use our patio at all.

We stayed at room 1342, its a "standard view", first floor. It was at the westmost side of the property, at the end of the corridor in the kind-of-horseshoe wing. (look at a hotel map or this won't make sense) The walk to the lobby was long but our room had a nice, quite view to a fountain. Our balcony had two chairs and a table, great place to have breakfast and/or take-out pizza (from Pizzeria Uno!!) at night.

On to my recommendation: If you have a car, use (and factor in your budget) valet parking. It's a small fraction of what you are already paying at the hotel and well worth it since the walk to the parking lot is not trivial, specially at 10pm after a full day at the parks. After our first day we decided to use it everyday; I mentally swallowed the $50 and enjoyed the convenience throughout the week . Call the valet BEFORE you leave your room in the morning and tell them to pull up your car, so when you get to the lobby, your car is already waiting.

Use the boats to Epcot and MGM, specially if you are taking a mid-day break.

Hello,

Does anyone know where I can find a map of the Boardwalk area? We are going to eat at Cape May at the Beach Club but are staying at the Boardwalk. It is a long walk? How can we get there? We have never been to this area befroe and can use some help!!

It is not a long walk at all

I remember being a bit confused the first time we were planning to stay in the Epcot resort area. On map it looked so much bigger and further apart than it is in reality. We have stayed at BWI twice and BC once, when you stay in the Epcot area you feel like the whole area is your resort. We have done things at all the resorts, we would walk to the BWBakery for dessert from BC or we used BC child care while staying at BWI.

BWI is a nice resort, I hope you enjoy your trip.

Here's the Boardwalk area, http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/bwalk2.jpg and here's the Beach Club, http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/bcvmap.jpg . You can sort of match them up, by finding the pathway. On the Beach Club map, it's marked "walkway to Boardwalk" and on the Boardwalk map, it says "to Epcot". I think it's about a 7 to 10 minute walk, depending on your pace.

We just returned from a very magical visit to BWI- concierge! It was our first stay in the Epcot area, having stayed at the Magic Kingdom area resorts many times! We had connecting rooms that overlooked the Boardwalk - just perfect to sit on the balcony and enjoy the Boardwalk entertainment. There were 10 of us and we never felt crowded having six in the deluxe concierge room and four in the standard concierge room.

Concierge CM, Pete was wonderful sharing all kinds of helpful information and making sure our stay was most enjoyable!

All the CMs were outstanding - every request we made was honored quickly and with a wonderful smile! And, the convenience to Epcot and MGM can not be beat! So easy and quick!!!

We will be back!!

Wow! Glad it was so wonderful. I wish we had had that kind of BWI concierge experience. I enjoyed decor and feel of the resort, though.
