You most certainly can request a BW CL view - it does NOT cost additional for a BW view vs. a garden view. same price. Limited number of BW views available on club level though I have heard - garden/pool views more common. Just say on ressie "BW view preferred or pretty garden view NOT EPCOT walkway". Epcot walkway has a satellite dish as part of the view.....

Does the BWI have tea time in the afternoon like the Grand Floridian? We got back a couple of weeks ago from the GF RPC. We were suppossed to switch and spend two nights at the BWI, but in the end just stayed GF for the whole trip.

We are seriously thinking of taking advantage of a discount and going again mid August, for a resort only vacation. We are torn between returning to GF RPC or trying the BWI CL.

I'm really curious about the Food offerings at the BWI. They were really good at GF.

Can anybody share what they have, and whether they have an afternoon tea time with pastries and such?

Thanks

I've stayed at the GF RPC and BWI CL and I far prefered BWI :) (although GF was of course still very nice).

The evening food offerings at the BWI are more what I would call 'substantial' and included (when I was there in May) chilli, pulled pork, fish and rice (very tasty), beef skewers, chicken skewers, prawn skewers, chowder. Re. the skewers they were 'full size' as opposed to the more canapes size at the GF, the hot food items were served in large containers and you just filleld your own bowl/plate, rather than the 'cute' little individual plates at the GF. In addition there were 'cold' items each evening, various cheeses with crudites, pitta bread with dips including hummus.

Breakfast usually consisted of 3-4 cereals, bagels, pastries, fresh fruit (melon, pineapple), yoghurt - bread was also available upon request.

Unlike the GF there is no champagne but we enjoyed the wines on offer. BWI had the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries every evening, along with other little deserts.

BWI does not have afternoon tea but they have snack items out such as popcorn and cookies. However, the evening pastries/deserts were lovely.

I much preferred the BWI evening food offerings over the GF.

This is great information. Thank you!!

I've been busy reading all about the BWI.. was wondering what the abreviations are for IPO and CRO? I am staying at BWI next month, I have the deluxe ddp. I am traveling with my sister and dad. (dads first visit) dad will be renting a scooter, that we will have at the resort. we have a standard view room. Do I have to call someone to request 2 beds? or a larger room to fit scooter? or request a view?
thanks for your help. this board is great!

If you are staying CLUB LEVEL at the Boardwalk they will provide you the phone number of the IPO Office to which you can call and requst - 2 queen beds or this view, etc. IF you are not staying club level then you simply call the 407-disney number and reference your reservation number and they will add notes to your file. We stayed Club Level in June and there were 2 people in our hallway that had scooters and there was plenty of room to keep the scooters against the wall as there are outlets in the hallway for them.

I have a standard view room booked for September. I am thinking of upgrading to CL level. What view should I request? My husband and I are celebrating our 17th anniversary so I thought why not upgrade!?;) Do you make the requests when you book the room or thru IPO? I think we would like a BW view. Is this is a request for CL level? Thanks in advance for any or all information.:)

When you book a stanard room you can get either the Bw view or the garden view. Just let IPO know you are celebrating your anniversary and would like a BW view room.

My family and I have stayed at Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge over the last 4 years. We preferred WL over BC but we want to try a different resort. BW looks so cool but is it geared towards adults and older kids?

If I request a ground floor room, standard view, will the patio face the gardens or parking lot? Should I request a different view or higher floor? I am having a hard time understand the BW map so not sure if the resort is all connected or separate buildings. I have always tried to get a room on the lobby level because it is quick to get in and out of and last time at WL we had a bunny family that visted us.

My wife and I are thinking of going to the F&W Fest in October, 2010. We are planning on staying for the first time at an Epcot area resort. So far, the Boardwalk hotel is in the lead, mostly because we like the decor and "feel" of the hotel. We would most likely be going during the week of my wife's birthday, so I am hopeful that a request for a king bed would be honored.

I feel like a total noob on this one. We have stayed at several of the WDW resorts, in all categories, but the Epcot resorts have never been on our radar before and oddly enough, I don't really recall seeing many people talking about how great the Boardwalk resort is. What should I know about the Boardwalk to make our stay extra special? TIA

Do you think there may be any snacks from Kouzzina, cant get a ressie there but we do have a split stay with a couple days at the club level at BWI and I was hoping maybe we could get a smakeral of some good greek food

Evening snacks! Woohoo were they good this year. We had a night of ESPN stuff- wings yummy and chili., a night of 2 "pastry" type meats- you know those filled pockets- yummy good. One night was skewered meat, another was chicken tenders(from espn) Really the night with the hummus had 2 other Hot items. It's generally 2 hots and a couple dips along with the cut up pb&j uncrustables that my kids enjoyed.

Lorenzo is the man to talk to about the food- he is so funny and will give you pointers on the good nights!(He gave us the espn heads up!)

Oh and the ONE tv CL room is room number 4225 - how do we know? Well we were put in there at check in! Ooops- switched immediately to room 4229. Much better! Right above the bakery- mmm cupcakes.

SRUalum did you spot us? We were rarely all in the lounge though - there were some rather lively other children in there(another family of 6 and I was mortified thinking that you might think that was us! :rotfl2:)

I love the BWI!!! Was there in June and simply had a great time. DD9 loves it there - the pool is "ok" - she preferred SAB pool but she does NOT like slides. If you like slides your kids will love BWI pool. we much prefer their slide over SAB slide. I purposely chose BWI for the trip b/c I didn't want kids clammoring everywhere like I feel they do at BC , etc. DD9 loved her stay at BWI and I felt it to be very family orientated. I did not encounter a lot of yelling toddlers or infants - I am sure there were some but not enough for me to notice. If I had to peg the resort, I would call it tween/family vs. small kids. I loved our view of the gardens - we were club level - but if you stay standard I would ask that you not be the near the FRONT of the hotel,I have heard this is a noisy area...(cars unloading, etc) I would ask for an "inner garden/courtyard view"....

We were there in late June/early July and LOVED IT! We had a Boardwalk view from our room and my mom loved nothing more than to sit out on the balcony and just watch the people and entertainment.

It was GREAT to be able to run down to Spoodles pizza window, the candy store, the food carts, coffee cart, etc... and get treats or a late night snack. The entertainers are sooooo funny and talented and being able to walk to Epcot and DHS was AWESOME!

The bus service to AK and MK left a lot to be desired, and we actually walked through Epcot and took the monorail to the MK a few times to save the hassle (yes, that was LESS of a hassle than taking the bus!) :rotfl:

I would agree with Scottmel that it's not really a small kid resort. We went over to the BC one night to eat at Beaches N Cream and it was SO LOUD and there were so many people and kids all over the place! We never felt like that at the Boardwalk (except on July 4!) It was so peaceful and felt empty.

Let us know if you have any questions :thumbsup2 Scottmel and I both stayed CL too, so we can answer questions about that as well :)

I've been a lurker on this thread for awhile, but this is my first post here. I've always wanted to stay at the Boardwalk since I first saw it back in 1997. I had originally been planning on staying at the Wilderness Lodge in a standard view room for the second half of my split stay vacation this December, but when Disney released their discount codes last week I couldn't resist and switched my reservation over to the Boardwalk. I'm completely thrilled and can't wait for my stay.:cool1:

Even better, for just a small amount more I was able to upgrade to a standard CL room! I don't know why, but it was cheaper to upgrade to that level of room than a standard water view room. :) I was already planning on this vacation being a bit more laid back than my usual commando Disney trips, so I think a CL room is going to be wonderful.

I've never stayed concierge before and had a few questions. I've already put in a request for a water view, which I know isn't guaranteed, but it can't hurt ;) but is there anything else I should know before hand. Is it true that they will take care of my ADRs, and if so would I be better off letting them take care of them as opposed to making them myself? With free dining going on during that time, is there any benefit to having their staff make my ADRs? I am spending 3 nights before my Boardwalk check in at ASSports.

I was also curious about early entry into Epcot. There was one morning I was hoping to do the princess breakfast at Akerhaus. Can you enter through the International gateway, or only through the main entrance before the park opens?

If U had Wings you have chosen a wonderful resort.:cool1: Even bettter CL which we absolutely just love.:lovestruc DH and I stay there 3x a year and I stay there for my girls weekend in OCT. The CM are awesome. You can have the IPO make your ADR ahead of time. If you find during your stay you want to change or make additions, the CM up in the Innkeepers Lounge can do that for you. If for some reason a BWI view is not available, ask for a room facing Paris. If you decided to stay in your room one night during the fireworks, you will be able to see them from the balcony. The other option is to watch them from the balcony up in the lounge. Yes you can enter early through the International Gateway. You will need to let the security guard know.

My family and I have stayed at Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge over the last 4 years. We preferred WL over BC but we want to try a different resort. BW looks so cool but is it geared towards adults and older kids?

We have a 7 year old and a 15 year old (both girls) and we are headed to BWI club level in September. This will be the 3rd year there for the girls and they love it. They love the entertainers on the Boardwalk, their favorite restaurant is The Flying Fish, they love the boat ride to Hollywood Studios, walking the Boardwalk to Epcot, the pool, the shops on the Boardwalk, the balconies, I can go on and on. For us, our style, the Boardwalk is the perfect place.

That's the great thing about Disney resorts. There is something for everyone and a good match. You just have to decide what makes your heart sing. What was it you liked about the WL over BC?
