We were there last week and thought RD crowds were much heavier than our previous trips. For us, it's no longer worth it to stand around in a mass of people before the park even opens. HS last Sunday had a huge line for bag check, and park entry before 9. Made it to TSM at 9:09 and SB line extended to backlot tour and listed as 60 minutes. That's a non-starter for us, and we had booked our FP for Sunday evening in MK so did not ride. Probably won't do another May trip for a while just seemed too much like summer crowds to me anyway. We didn't wait terribly long for anything, but also passed on things unless we could use FP, so rode less than in past with fewer "rerides". Found myself not able to soak in environment as I always felt like I was fighting a crowd to move anywhere. Great trip, but if these kinds of crowds are the new norm my trips will be fewer and farther between. I'd speculate that the added room capacity due to art of animation resort and new dvc units/ continued sales and new owners over the last few years are a factor. A better economy certainly affects crowd level too. Finally, and I don't think this point can be overstated, the internet means there are far far more educated and informed guests than there were in the past. Clearly a high percentage of folks are still ignorant, but many more people now know the secrets these days, making it tough to stay one step ahead of the masses. That's my .02 anyway.
