The big G+ rides at HS gone by 1:07!

Visiting the parks next month with a family member who is staying offsite, but I'm staying DVC. I suppose I should put them as a guest in our DVC for us to have any chance at ROTR ILL$$, right? Or at least give us an opportunity for early rope drop? Though, with mobiility impairment, going early might not be our ideal option. Ugh. I hate this new system and the guessing game so much.
(We're not going right at Easter, but surely will still be on someone's spring break)

Yes! Even if you don't do rope drop, you will be able to book the ILL$ for all provided you are linked in MDE.

You can make reservations at 6 am? I thought it was 7? I'm asking because we are going in a couple months and just wan to make sure I understand correctly.
Reservations are variable. Some like treats & seats and Up Close with rhinos are released at midnight (EST), some are released are 5:30 am (Dessert after party) and finally the rest at 6 am EST. Then 2 weeks before your trip they add hours on a Friday and then release some ADRs for that park right away, some Wed and some who knows when and IT issues of all kinds pop up (new one recently is the app showing no calendar to select-Frozen).

Feb 15 2021, no availability left by 1:07 for:
SDD
MF
RnR coaster
ToT
Mickey Minnie Railway (ILL)

If I were there now, paid for G+ and was only able to get 3 of the big rides (by booking at 7, 11, and 1) I’d be 😡

Disney needs to do something to fix this mess.

the standbys for all of those are 80 minutes or greater.

boy how I miss the old days of scheduling FPs (generally) when I wanted them, having it included in my highly priced ticket, and also being able to re-ride with FP at times!

I remember before Chapek, they cared about guest experience and studied how many “experiences” guests needed in order to want to come back. Something tells me that paying for G+ to skip the line on just a few rides that really need it ain’t it. At least not for my family.

this is the pits :(
Hi

we were at Disney a couple of weeks ago it’s only worth getting genie+ at Magic Kingdom waste of time anywhere else
You will get a lighting lane if you are staying at a Disney resort but it maybe 5-6 hours from the time you think you are getting.
When I spoke to guest services about how awful the genie+ is they said everyone was saying the same thing and there were rumours of some changes.

Honestly what tweak can the make it it that would make it more useful in places like HS? It seems like the bigger issue is park capacity; HS alone needs 2-3 more people-eater style rides.

I think the "fix" for G+ will need to be different for each park. I mean, there are some common things like having the windows you select for G+LL and ILL actually give you window they offered.

But even if they do that, I agree that DHS still seems like the biggest challenge.

Getting ToT back to full operating capacity will help. And making sure all other rides are maxed out and fully staffed.

Also making sure all dining and entertainment starts to look like pre-COVID. That is harder but at DHS - it will suck up 5000-10000 people every night for Fantasmic (one show or two). Plus the Star Wars projection shows would suck up thousands of people each evening.

Right now it is super hard to find dining slots at DHS. Is that because of too many people or restaurants needing to operate at reduced capacity due to staffing?

Character meet & greets? Jedi training? March of the First Order? Etc.

Epcot and AK also has a limited set of attractions like DHS. But Epcot has lots more things for people to do to spread folks out.

AK usually does too but maybe folks are avoiding AK right now because of EE being down and shows not back up yet? They kind of come in and do FOP and KS and then park hop somewhere else?

MK seems to be nice because it has so many attractions for different age groups which tends to spread things out more and makes G+ seem more useful.

HS would help if they added more restaurants, I know the Toy Story land one is coming but even with that they need more.

When did you talk to them when they said this?

I so hope that is true. I really really hope they make it better.

Nailed it. I nominate you @HydroGuy to invite yourself in to the next Parks Board meeting!
Talk about some common sense things that would help a lot of guests have a better time!!

There are two places to eat in GE- Ronto Roasters and Docking Bay 7. Also Oga’s and the blue and green milk stand. But more would be good too!
I was surprised they didn't build a Star Wars restaurant in Galaxy's Edge. That would have been so popular!

We're assuming demand will go down with price increases. My suspicion is that ROTR ILL would have to more than double to reduce demand in any meaningful way. The other ILLs less so. If Guardians comes up I shudder to think what they'll price an ILL at if they want to avoid another ROTR instant sell out scenario.

Or maybe Disney could design Guardians as a high capacity ride with backup systems to prevent large amounts of down time unlike RotR.
