The Best WDW Dining is just "Good"

Wow, they must have had some awesome food and service before because we just started going to WDW and have had great food and service at the places we went.

OP, I, too, agree with you. I posted the "Food Snob" thread. I am going to make a few TS ressies next time. I loved Citricos, so I'll eat there again. I want to try Victoria & Alberts. The rest of my food will be prepared by me in my RV. I'll probably pack our lunches from now on, also. It's not about the money. I just expect to get something FOR my money.

And, I agree. I will let my money speak for me. When I don't get the dining plan and I only eat 2 restaurant meals for an 8 day trip, that will speak volumes!

I still think that for theme park food, WDW succeeds in offering above average meals, but it's no longer really good dining.

I agree. Far better than any other amusement park I've ever been to (especially since most amusement parks don't even offer anything more than CS)! That being said we've done 2-3 TS meals per day during every trip since '93 (although I was 11 and don't remember much about WDW dining except that the restaurants had stand up Mickey butter molds :)). I equate eating at most places at WDW like eating at a more expensive Olive Garden, Outback, or Chili's [There are some places though, like Jiko, that are exceptional]. Our next trip we're planning on staying 12-14 days and I think we're going to drop back going to 1 TS meal a day or every other day. The BEST meal I had during our last trip was at Wolgang Puck Express. My Dad even made a comment that our next trip we could just come there for every meal and it'd be fine with him.

I really miss the days when at WDW we could just call up and make an ADR for the next day and enjoy the food.

Or do it on the same day right? So many times, Mom and I would just walk up and make a ressie for Alfredo's 2 hours later - or be able to walk right in w/o a reservation. Ah the good old days!

Btw princess disney mom - how is your digout going? We're in Fairfax and didn't get a plow 'til Thursday night!

We just had an incredible meal at Narcoosee's on Sunday night. Yes, expensive, but the food and atmosphere were wonderful!! Surf and Turf, both melted in your mouth. Excellent wine suggestions by our server, and the meal was paced perfectly.

In my opinion, a much better atmosphere than CG for adults.

Looking forward to Narcoocee's in March.

What a shame Disney opted to make a profit off their dining, huh? You could walk up because the restaurants were operating well below capacity. They found a way to increase their profits from food, meaning ticket prices no longer had to support dining.
