The Best Ways To SAVE MONEY While Inside Disneyland

thanks for posting this, mugglemama! we're going to DL for our 1st family trip in october and i need as many money-saving ideas as i can get! :)

Even better than refilling your water bottles at the icky water fountains is refilling at the Baby Center on Main Street in DL. They have cold FILTERED water that you can refill with.

Thanks Danger Mouse! I'll try to remember that when we are there next month. However, we're usually not near the baby station (we don't spend a lot of time in that general area), and I've never found the water fountains to be icky at DL (although i don't let my kids drink from public water fountains unless absolutely necessary, hence the water bottles we bring in, lol!).

North Shore Mama - Hope you have a great time in October! If you're taking any snacks or foods into the park (as people do in order to save money), try to find a Picnic at Ascot insulated backpack on ebay, they are AWESOME! I just picked one up, brand new and never used at a thrift store for $5!!! They retail for $50-$100!!!

Did you write the article? I just was reading a thread in the budget forum where people talked about writing for that website and then getting paid a tiny amount each time someone clicks on their article.

Yes, I did write the article. And yes, for every one thousand page views (which I surely will probably not get even over the lifetime of this article), I will make a measly $1.60. Wow, look at that, if 40 people have looked at it, I've made half a cent. Woot.

I didn't post it for that reason, FYI. The information actually could really help some people who need to save money at DL. I've had probably more than 50 articles published about Disneyland alone, this is just one of them.

A short but sweet article. :)

"One regular sized meal shared between two children is cheaper than two child sized meals."

You really have to be careful with that, though. For example:

Hubby and I shared a plate of penne pasta with marinara, which came with one breadstick, at the Plaza Inn. $12.49

DS got a kid's meal with the same pasta, 5.99. With that he got a decent amount of pasta, a small bottled water, apple slices, and carrots! And half a breadstick.

We would have done better, financially and varied food (and water!) wise to just get 3 kid's meals. And we would have gotten 3 fun straws instead of just the one, and 3 take-home Mickey shaped bowls. ;)

So glad you mentioned the medicines at first aid.

Very good point, Bumbershoot, thanks for letting me know! I'll have to pay attention to that myself next month when I am there. Thanks for the tip!

They don't bother you for going into the baby care area without a baby? I am going in Sept I will remember that. I've been in there once it was a very NICE place.

Thank you for the link, and I hope that you make at least $2.00, geese, they need to pay more! ;)Anyway, I like the idea of ordering from the child's menu, have not done so yet, for I don't want any funny looks, anyway, by looking at the menus on line, it seems to me, that at times, if you do not want too much food, and saving money is always nice as well, it is better to sometimes, etc. order that way, I may just try it, I will just say that little Timmy is in the bathroom with his father, ;) (no, there is no little Timmy, and no hubby) good!.........but no seriously, I do think that it is a smart way to order at times, because many of the children's meals, are served with what Bumbershoot posted, and fruit is a good thing, matter of fact, one is suppose to have 5 servings of fruit and vegies a day, umm, o.k. I will try to do better! :) he he!

I tell everyone to be sure they make the medicine. . . I had to go into the first aid twice, once for a bandaid and once for, well that is a whole nother long story about dh. . . but he ended up with motrin and finding out we did not need to go to the er.. the problem with doing this is. . . PAPERWORK. . for one lil bandaid we were there for 20 minutes filling out paperwork and assuring the cm inside the firstaid it was no big deal . .. because of lawsuits they really cover their booties. . . so always always bring a first aid kit with you .. . mine is in my fannie pac, have my bandaids, meds, small tub of antibiotic ointment/cream. . . so we never have to waste time going over there. Because in the end people time is money as well.

FYI - the first aid station has cold filtered water too.

Last time we were in the parks my daughter had really bad allergies and we went there and they had some medication that could give her. They were so very nice!

As we were walking out they mentioned the cooler inside the station and that we could stop by anytime to fill up our water bottles.

Thanks Seattle Tink for sharing the info about water at the first aid station!

Arliepooh68 - wow, 20 minutes for paperwork? I guess I can see how they have to cover their rears though, but still. I typically take my own band-aids and Tylenol too, although that's for time conservation, lol. I don't want to spend time walking for a band-aid, I want to go on rides!! :rotfl: But if I had a headache and no medicine I would definitely seek out the pain reliever at the park...I couldn't let a headache ruin a day at DL.

Thanks, Gisele - it looks like i'm up to about 4.5 cents, lol. :lmao: And that's only if everyone who went into this thread actually went to read my article. Like I told the other person, I really just wanted to give some good tips to people who could use them. I make my money when the company buys my article, page view money is very minimal. I have dozens of Disneyland related articles published, one of these days I need to start a Disneyland blog with all the links in one place so people can get to them.

And to everyone else who said thanks for the link, you are more than welcome! I hope you get some use out of the suggestions. If you click on my face :hippie: at the top of that article, you can get to the page that has all the other DL articles, if you're interested. They are typically about every single issue I've ever encountered there, from saving time and money (several are about money, because now that we live so far away, I usually have to do my DL trips as frugally as possible in order to get to go), to restaurant overviews, to dealing with grouchy DL cast members.

:thumbsup2

Here is an oldie but a goodie. I am sure most of you know about this already.
If you buy a cup of coffee at the market house, just save your receipt and show the next time you want coffee there and its free. Its not the greatest coffee, but it tastes good to me. I personally like New Orleans Chickory Coffee so anything else taste a bit weak, but its good at night with a big sugar cookie!
Great article by the way, too bad they dont pay by the word right?

20 minutes of paperwork? Wow, I've never had that experience at First Aid. :confused3

If I needed a band-aid for a blister, all I had to do was sign my name on a sheet at the front desk showing my name, where I lived and what I was requesting. Took all of 2 minutes.

Same thing for requesting Ibuprofen or Tylenol. No long forms for me. . .

I go in there every time I am at DL and the ladies are so sweet. I don't have a baby with me, usually just 3 water bottles to be refilled. I just ask if I can fill my bottles and they are always very kind and sweet and say "of course -- you know it's the best water in the park!" :goodvibes

Thanks for that tip CorpseBride! I actually didn't know that one yet (probably since I don't drink coffee, lol). I wil tell my husband about it! And yes, if they paid by the word my life would be SO much easier, lol!

You are welcome! I admire Journalists so much. I liked your article. Oh and tell your DH that there is a choice of regular, hazelnut , vanilla or decaf! Woo Hoo!:rotfl:
