Hi
We are going to be at Disneyland on my sons 6th birthday on April 28th and I want to make it very special for him.

We have had a rough time the last 3 months. We were supposed to spend 2 weeks at Disney World in October but on our way there we were in a car accident and I broke my elbow very badly, so we spend all of our time in the hospital before we went home to Europe (Luckily we did get 2 weeks of holiday on the Disney Magic before the accident).

Back home I have not been able to do very much with him because of the accident, so I really want to spoil him on his birthday.

He is very into Mickey Mouse so I would like for us to dine with Mickey and I would like if it's possible to get him a Mickey Mouse cake. Where is the best place to go?

But what else can I do for him? I've never been to Disneyland before so I don't know very much about the special ways to spoil my son.

Thanks
Christina

I suggest for planning you read the DLR guide for WDW vets since it's you first visit.

I don't think you can get a cake with a three circle shape like mickey, but you can get a cake with mickey decorations at any of the Disney restaurants in the parks or hotels. Also note in the link you can do a little party with the characters.

Make sure you get him a birthday button from a CM in the parks, particularily from one who works behind a counter.

I'd also suggest since you are coming from a long way, that you may want to wait until the middle of summer. In DCA Carsland will be opening at some time for summer. You may hit or miss it in April. You can celebrate a birthday in DLR at anytime, not just on your birthdate.

The only meal that features Mickey is the breakfast Surf's Up with Mickey at the PCH Grill in the Paradise Pier Hotel. If you would rather eat inside the park, Minnie's breakfast at the Plaza Inn in Disneyland features lots of characters, but Mickey will not be there. You can always go visit Mickey at his house in ToonTown later though or most likely find him sometime during the day in Town Square.

I know that cakes are available for pre-order through Disney dining and can be served to you if you are eating at a Disney sit-down restaurant. Maybe you could call or e-mail Disney dining for more information, like which restaurants offer this service, available patterns, and prices.

Will you be staying at a Disney owned hotel? There are plenty of extra-cost options you can look into such as having Mickey rice krispies treats delivered to your room. Also, you can request free balloons and character photos be waiting for you at check-in if you're staying at a Disney hotel.

What other foods and Disney likes does your son have? Make sure to incorporate as many of his likes as you can into your ride, dining, and souvenir choices. Don't forget to have fun yourself though.

I highly recommend the My Disneyland Birthday Party. It is $16.99 per person and worth every penny IMO. We have done it several times with my daughter. Each guest will receive a Mickey shaped plate with a small circle cake in the face section and frosting & sprinkles in the ears as well as a souvenier cup and party hat. It is a birthday party with other guests who have reserved it as well. It is hosted by Pat E. Cake who is absolutely hilarious. He sings and you each get to decorate your cake then Mickey & Minnie crash the party. Then there is a birthday march where you march around the patio area (this is held at Plaza Inn on the outside patio) with Mickey & Minnie leading the march. Afterwards you get to do a meet n greet with both Mickey & Minnie. My family has had so much fun at these parties. We really felt disconnected from the rest of the park during this time and felt like it was our own private little Disneyland party even though there were approximately 20 or so other guests. :)

This is good to know - we'll be in DLR for our son's 6th birthday and I think both my little guys would get a huge kick out of this.

We were there for my son's 7th. We had lunch at the Carnation Cafe and ordered a cake from disneyland to be ready when we had lunch. IT was fun :)

How do you reserve this? Through Disney Dining? What time do they have this?

You can also order a personal birthday cake inside a treasure chest ( princess for girls, POTC for boys I believe) through Disney Dining to be delivered at a restaurant. You will also have the option to order favor bags. We ordered them for my DD5's birthday dinner at DLR and also ordered one for my niece who was with us. She still has the favor bag (it is DLR canvas type bag) and it was filled with stickers, crayons, activity book, etc. She still talks about that dinner all the time!!!:goodvibes
