The best time to go? Oct. 9 or Oct. 16th

What weekend would be the best time to go, Oct. 9-12th or Oct.16-19? I know Utah has their UEA convention Oct. 15-16 and that can spike DL crowds but also I hear some AZ schools have fall break during the week of the 9th. So I know either way it'll be crowded but which one do you think will be the most crowded?

Remember that first time is over Columbus Day weekend (but not including the Monday holiday itself), so it's not going to be only some AZ schools that might have a day or so off.

Our Spring Break starts October 6th so we will be there earlier than the Columbus Day Weekend. I have heard that UEA weekend is packed.

Let me suggest the weekend of the 16th. (For selfish reasons) You can warm up the rides for us. We will be there on the 22nd.

I believe both will be equally crowded. Not only will there be out of state visitors on school break, but you will have tons of locals who will come out to enjoy the Halloweentime decorations because it's the weekend and there is no block out days on APs.

and it's Canadian Thanksgiving on October 13 as well. But I think the 15-16 is the BEST - we'll be there too

we will be there 6th though the 12th only 4days in the parks. i didnt know the weekend was a holiday weekend all well it will still be fine

Our oldest daughter has the week of Columbus day off of school. We went in 2006 and it was a great time, nice weather, light crowds. So then we went last year on the same week and it was very crowded. Not sure how crowded the next week is though.

I'll be there that weekend too! We're doing the Halloween party on the 17th. Only 4 more months to go!!!! YEA!

we went the week after gay days in october of last year. i checked the california school schedule and schools were not out. i failed to check arizona and utah, which was a HUGE mistake (GC parking lot packed full of SUVs with AZ and UT plates)!! both states were out and it was super crowded!! this was a lesson learned...to check surrounding states also...

I agree, just crowded for both! We were there last year from the 9th to the 13th and it was JAMMED packed all those days. Getting worse as the week went on.

oh, i forgot to mention, on that same week jen mentioned in above post, the Early Entry lines for Disneyland Park were backed all the way to the C A L I F O R N I A sign in front of DCA!!!

I think I'm leaning towards the 9th only because it's cheaper for my family then. But I'll probably move the date back, get there Wed and spend Thurs & Fri at DL/DCA. That shouldn't be bad, hopefully.

I'm just accepting that it's going to be busy no matter what and just be happy I'm going

Acceptance is good. LOL Wish I had done that last year, I would have been better prepared. But noooo, I went thinking it was a really slow time of year. Even after spending all my time here, couldn't imagine it being that bad.

But if you prepared, get there early, and use those FP, you'll be okay. You'll still have fun, just pace yourself!
