Disneyland has always been a magical place with my friends and family. Ever since my grandfather visited Disneyland on Opening Day in 1955 my family has gone at least one every year and I find myself planning 3-4 trips now each year.

Anyway I have read countless general reviews of the many eateries of the park and have wanted to become more involved in the Disney community as well. I am planning to begin writing in depth reviews with great supporting pictures of not just the eateries but individual dishes that will make it easier for future guests to visualize and mentally experience a menu before they arrive.

I thought I would start with something simple like the Top 10 Sandwiches on the Disney Property in California. Including Disneyland, DCA, Disney Hotels, and Downtown Disney. Then as I did my research I found out there are at least 58 different Sandwiches in Disneyland / DCA / Disney Hotels alone; followed by at least another 64 in Downtown Disney. This can include Sandwiches, Burgers, Wraps....

So my primary reason posting is for all of your advice. I have my favorites but I would like to see what the community thinks. I will be at Disneyland from Feb 28 - Mar 2 (specifically for the 24 hour Leap Day Event) and will be writing, photographing, and video recording my reviews at this time.

I hope you will be able to help me out with your suggestions. Thanks so much and I am glad to be a part of the community. :)

My number one favorite has to be the Monte Cristo sandwich at Cafe Orleans. And it comes in 2 versions! :D

I haven't had much luck with sandwiches in dl actually, lots of dry meat in my experience. The only two I like are the burgers from Taste Pilots Grill (specifically the one with blue cheese) and the ones at Hungry Bear (fried green tomato and chicken)

The Chicken Bacon croissant from Carnation Cafe is wonderful, and it's a family favorite. However, the cafe will be closed during your visit. I would also have to mention the Monte Cristo from Cafe Orleans, not only because it is tasty, but because it is one of those signature dishes that is special to Disneyland. We split one;) per trip; they are just too heavy for one person to eat, in my opinion.

Wow, I never thought I would get feedback so quick. Thank you so much so far. Yes I agree completely with the posts that the Chicken Bacon Croissant is amazing and am saddened that the Carnation Cafe will be closed.

I love the Monte Cristo not only as a signature dish of Disneyland but as one of my favorites which I have at least once a year (because it is a heavy dish). Now It was not until last time that I noticed across the way that Café Orleans also serves the Monte Cristo in two varieties. Question, is the regular Monte Cristo the same in construction and quality between the Blue Bayou and Café Orleans?

The MC is the same sandwich at BB & CO, the only difference being CO has two to chose from.

I think my favorite sandwich is the MC. I don't count burgers as sandwiches. I've had other sandwiches I've enjoyed at the parks but the MC is memorable.

Thank you Pixiewings. I thought the normal MC was the same just that you paid more at Blue Bayou for the ambiance. I know Sandwiches / Burgers / Wraps are different but I am lumping them into the same edible category for the best of for me to review for now.

My favorite sandwich is the fried green tomato sandwich at Hungry Bear, but I haven't tried any of the new ones at Jolly Holiday yet.

I also really enjoy the Po' Boy sandwiches at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and the Club sandwich at Storyteller's.

Ya I was just suggested to try the Cochon de Lait Po-Boy at Jazz Kitchen. I looked at the storytellers menu and didn't remember seeing a club then kept reading and saw the Slow-roasted Turkey Clubhouse. It will be on the list as well.

I appreciate all the feedback, and hope you guys keep it coming so far I have received the following feedback for the best options for me to review:

Traditional Monte Cristo - Blue Bayou/Café Orleans @ Disneyland - 5

As a fellow Montereyan (Montereyite? Well, I live in north county now, but before that for 13 years, it was easier to say PaGrovian). Ahem, I just wanted to say:

:welcome: to the DIS.

Oh, and with regards to this:

Ever since my grandfather visited Disneyland on Opening Day in 1955

I just wanted to say :thanks: for making me feel old :scared1:

-Bob (First visited DLR in 1960)

The only two I like are the burgers from Taste Pilots Grill (specifically the one with blue cheese)

I like those Wild Blue Yonders too.

A different suggestion is the Chicken Sandwich in WWS.

@GrandBob thanks when I was growing up in "America's Last Hometown" I was a PaGrovian as well.

@skiingfast I am still learning shorthand for the different Disney references, what does WWS stand for? Somehow I think once I know I am going to feel stupid for not realizing.

EDIT: Never mind just figured it out. WWS is White Water Snacks and they have a Char-broiled Chicken Sandwich. I am adding it to the list. Thanks.

Same sandwich, you pay more at BB because you also get a soup or salad starter, rolls and you get potatoes and veggies on the side with the sandwich. And yes, of course for the ambiance as well. :)

If you're lumping burgers in I love the Wild Bleu Yonder burger at TPG, it's my go to burger when at the parks. :)

Sorry about that. That is the location and sounds ike the sandwich, it comes with guacamole.

This is a link to a huge list of DIS and Disneyland Resort accronyms.

@pixiewings Thanks for the input, just thinking about the Wild Bleu Yonder Burger is making my taste buds melt. It's currently tied with the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich right behind the Classic Monte Cristo.

@skiingast Yep the Char-broiled Chicken Sandwich at WWS has guacamole so it should be the one your thinking of. Right after I couldn't figure out what WWS was I found that acronym list, thanks for posting it for me though. : )

We really like the roast beef sandwiches at River Belle Terrace, especially because you can customize them to your liking.

@bekkiz Sounds good, I think that is called River Belle's Roast New York. I will add that to the list. I usually head to River Belle for breakfast when Carnation is busy and have never been there for lunch/dinner. Sounds like another good option. Thanks

It's my fave, I make them at home too.....I have the Bleu Cheese in my fridge, I have hamburger patties too...I am going to make them at home soon and add bacon! :)

Oh yes, RBT, I had the turkey sandwich there, it was very good. I also had the BBQ sandwich, I believe it's pulled pork and OMG it was delish!!!!!

I was there with your gramps on opening day..I like the 1/3lb Pastrami, cheeze burger...

Jack

@pixiewings71 That sounds pretty tasty, might have to go to the store later today and make some more after I am done with my Nut Crusted Salmon.

@blackjackdelta Thanks for your input your vote has been counted and glad to see another Club 55'er

This is great input everyone can't wait to see others as well join in
