Day 4 started like any other day, except today was Magic Kingdom day!! We started off at the Polynesian, Konas for breakfast. Both couples split breakfast and it was a good thing we did!! Kevin and I split the Tonga Toast and Dave and Monica had a spread of pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage and other yummy things.
After breakfast we moved the car over to the TTC parking lot and hopped a monorail over to the Magic Kingdom. We were there in time for the opening ceremony, which I had always missed since I was inside the park working at that time. It was so neat to watch and I cried through the entire thing.
We usually we take our time walking through Main St. but we had things to do and places to see. The boys ran ahead to grab Space Mountain fast passes, while Monica and I walked (rode) a little slower. See the big tough boys had been complaining about how hard it was to push her around all day, so me and my big mouth had agreed to push her all day today to show them how easy it was!
We all met up at Space Mountain and decided to try the Astro Orbiter first. We never ride this because the lines are so long, but we were the 2nd ones on! YEA!! Afterwards we hit the Indy Speedway . It was fun, and I will only do that ride if there is no line J Next we did Buzz Lightyear and Carousel of Progress (MY FAVORITE!!) Now it was time to use those fast passes, unfortunately they wouldnt let us take the wheel chair through line. So Monica hobbled up on to Daves back and got a very fast, very bumpy piggyback ride. Now we still cant figure out why we couldnt bring the wheelchair along, since later that day we were allowed to.
Next we got in line for Stitch. Now the wait said 30 minutes, but wow was it longer than that. And since I had heard so many bad things about it, I was not looking forward to riding. And boy was I right, 60 minutes was not worth it. It was cute, but not great and not worth a 60 minute line.
After completing all of Tomorrowland, we headed over to Adventureland. Pirates of the Caribbean was first. Also, one of my favorites!! YO HO YO HO A PIRATES LIFE FOR ME!! We were starving by now and went to have lunch. DH went and picked up fast passes for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and then we headed to Pecos; we just love the toppings bar. And we were stuffed by the time we finished.
Here comes the kicker. Lunch is over and we are heading over to BTMR to use our Fast Passes. The CM informs us that since we have the wheelchair, we can proceed to the handicap accessible entrance AT THE EXIT!! What a waste. We had thought that BTMR might backdoor us, and we should have asked before we got the FP, but we didnt. What a waste of FP. On the other hand, we didnt have to wait in the 35 minute stand-by line either J BTMR was great, as usual and I could have rode it 10 more times!! When we got off the ride, DH gave all 4 fast passes to a family right outside the ride. They had just gotten off, but were so excited to go on again without waiting.
We were all exhausted now and since it was still early, we decided to head back to SSR and take a swim in the pool. We had a blast!! I wasnt too impressed with the themeing of the pool, but the slide rocked!! We were like 4 big kids. Down the slide, up the stairs, down the slide, up the stairs! Monica even did pretty well with her ankle.
We headed back to the room to get ready. The plan was to be at EPCOT around 6, that would leave us 3 hours to tour the countries, eat and watch Illuminations. Of course things didnt turn out like that.
By the time we left for EPCOT it was almost 7. We walked straight to Canada to try and get in to Le Cellier. We had PS for 8:30, but of course we would have missed Illuminations. It turns out that everything was booked for the evening except China. We decided that counter service in Japan would be perfect. It would allow us enough time to browse the shops and still watch Illuminations. We were off to the United Kingdom where Kevin bought a half yard and Monica and I went in a couple shops. As we were walking into France, I overheard Dave ask Monica if she wanted to split Fish n Chips. I thought we had all agreed to eat in Japan, but I was obviously mistaken. I tell them that we are going to France to get some pastries and to meet us just over the bridge by the fountain.
There wasnt much of a line at the bakery and we were out at the fountain in no time. We waited for a little bit, I ate my elephant ear (Hi Mom!!) and we waited .and waited and waited. Now when we left Dave and Monica they were almost up to the counter. Kevin decided to go and look for them. About 5 minutes later he came back saying they were sitting in the UK eating their dinner. I was furious. We were supposed to meet and eat together. To top it off, once they got to France, they needed to go to the bakery. What???!?!? I was just there!! So we had to wait some more. By now it is almost 8 and we had only made it to France.
So now we start walking toward Japan. We whipped through all the countries to try and make it to Japan. We had planned on going to Mexico for margaritas and nachos afterwards, but it didnt look like we would have that much time. We ate together in Japan, each couple splitting a dish. After that it was more brisk walking as we headed to Mexico, now nearing 8:30 p.m. We stopped in Mexico for our Margaritas but decided we didnt have enough time for nachos is we wanted a decent seat for Illuminations. We grabbed a partially obstructed view and since we had a couple minutes to spare, the boys ran off to get nachos. Illuminations was beautiful and even Dave and Monica enjoyed it.
It was now time to make our way through the crowds toward the gate. I warned Dave that maneuvering through the crowds with the wheelchair might be difficult. He started clipping people on the ankles, and we told him he better be careful. He said he wondered how many people he may end up clipping by the time we left. So we all made guesses. The fun part was he was really trying not to run anyone over. The winner would be the one who guessed the closest with out going over. I won with 12 people clipped (sorry if you were one of them!!). We were exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel and crashed.
