The Best "Healthy" Food You've Ever Had?

I need suggestions!

What are the best healthier meals and snacks that you've had at Disney World? Disney's a great place to indulge yourself in ice cream bars, hot dogs, and so many more choices that you might not normally make when you're not on vacation.

But after a week, sometimes you just want delicious food that doesn't require laps around World Showcase to burn off.

I have a few ideas to kick things off, but definitely need more!

Recommended from my last trip:
My pick was the Tangierine Cafe at Epcot. The Mediterranean Chicken Wrap and Shawarma Plates seemed to be tasty, filling, and generous with the protein. I enjoyed the warm spiciness of the Shawarma. The chicken was tender and the kefta pockets were nicely seasoned. Plus, the prices were very reasonable by theme park standards.

Not recommended:
Polynesian Salad with Chicken from Captain Cook's. The bits of pineapple are sweet and the crispy cucumbers brought some nice texture. But the blend of blue cheese, won ton strips, and Asian dressing felt weird and greasy. Plus the cold dry chicken was flavorless and disjointed. Whole thing felt prepackaged and odd.

I didn't get to explore a lot more last time, but if there are other must-eat healthy foods, I would love to incorporate more of those into my Disney dining plans! Thanks in advance!

I agree about Tangeriene Cafe. We enjoy the shwarma a LOT and I'm a picky eater LOL. We felt satisfied and full after without feeling gross. We usually get the combo platter and share it.

DH gives a thumbs up to the steak salad at Contempo Cafe.

Pretty much anything at Sunshine Seasons.

I have found buffets can be a nice option, you can have little tastes of things and also control items and the quantity on the plate.

Anything "healthy" I eat at Disney is in such a large quantity that it becomes unhealthy.. So...

I do like the build your own salads. After eating a steady diet of Dole Whips, steaks and Mickey Waffles, my body craves something green so that's a nice way to mix it up.

Crystal Palace for lunch or dinner has some really good vegetable side dish type salads and so does Tusker House, I find myself just loading up the plate with lots of yummy veggie salads and skipping the meat. I also like the lighthouse hummus and broccoli slaw sandwich at Columbia Harbor House.

I'm just the opposite; I avoid buffets because I can't control the amount of food I put on my plate and nothing screams my name more loudly than the desserts sitting on a buffet table. And judging from the stacked plates I've seen from so many others, I'm not the only one who seems to struggle with that. :rotfl2:

I guess I couldn't really name all the healthy but delicious things I have had at Disney since this is mostly how I do eat (once in awhile a dessert). But one that really stands out for me was the Copper River Salmon that I have had a couple of times at Artist Point.

It can definitely go either way at the buffet :-).

Contempo Café usually has some really good salads on their menu. Great for an inexpensive meal.

Just about every TS restaurant has at least one healthy option like grilled chicken or fish and steamed or grilled veggies. Just make sure they aren't grilled in butter. There are fruit stands in every park and I love a nice big cold dill pickle on a hot day. The veggie burger at sci-fi isn't bad but you have to look out for the condiments. There used to be a veggie sandwich at Backlot Express in HS, not sure if it's still there. Almost all of the QS places have a grilled chicken sandwich or salad, again watch out for the condiments and the salad dressing. I have no problems eating healthy at WDW, if I can't find anything on the menu that suits I just order what I want but do either a kid's meal or just eat half of what I order. Fat, sugar and carbs aren't all bad for you as long as you use moderation.

I agree with the Lighthouse sandwich at CHH. In 2013 I had a vegetarian sandwich with hummus and cucumbers at Plaza. It was delicious!

I try to order either a salad or an appetizer, mostly for lunch.

I like the salmon and broccoli at Columbia Harbor House, the Colony salad at Liberty Tree Tavern, the strawberry chicken salad at The Plaza, the Miso Salmon at Yak and Yeti, the sustainable fish dish at Kona lol. I think Disney actually has lots of options that are on the healthier side as far as eating out goes.

Hands down, the Wilderness Salad at the Roaring Fork in the Wilderness Lodge. I still think about that salad months later. & it will be our 1st stop when we go this Fall. It is huge though, so I recommend splitting it.

Sunshine Seasons has a power salad with kale, feta, chicken & cranberries! It is delicious & the best salad I ever had on property -
