The Best "Free" Things at Disney

Hit Welcome Home Wednesday at Atlantic Dance Hall - always fun and you do get free swag and snacks.

I like Welcome Home Wednesdays, but have you seen your dues amount? I wouldn't call them free snacks. ;)

Pin trading, although you've got to buy pins to start with, but they're easy to find at deep discount.

Resort tours and activities. We love the Jiko/Boma tour at AKL and the tour of Artist Point at WL. Cultural representative activities at AKL- love the storytelling by the firepit and the use of the night vision goggles. There are things though at every resort, as a PP mentioned, check out the info you get when you check in.

During Christmastime, visit all the Santa's at each country to learn about the history and origin of those traditions, plus I love seeing all the Santa outfits.

Off Kilter esp. but also the other entertainers around World Showcase. There are so many if you stop and browse vs. just marching through to get to the next attraction.

Ping-pong and basketball- love this over at OKW.

Afternoon poolside games and dances. We also enjoyed this immensely over at OKW when the kids were younger.

All I can think of right now, but I'm sure there are more!---Kathy

the nightly movies at the various hotels, I check before we go to decide which one to go to that week
I really love these. Most DVC resorts have the movies-AKV/Kidani, BCV, OKW, and SSR at least. I'm pretty sure BWV doesn't, but anyone can just walk over to the BCV beach for them.

Leaving in 2 days!:cool1: Can't wait to try Fantasia Gardens with the AP pass and movies by the pool. I love that there are new things to try each time we go. Really looking forward to the THV. Plan to go for walks and look for wildlife. Really hoping to see the otters by the Springs section! We love all the entertainment at Epcot. We love to listen to Off Kilter and the Japanese Drummers. We've done Kim Possible once and have to try a new country this time.

Otters? Could you be more specific as to where to see them? Thanks!

I read there was a family of them by the pond by the Springs section. Plan on asking around tomorrow when I arrive. They are one of my favorite animals, so would love to see them.:goodvibes

Where is the "Springs section"? Thanks.

Collecting transportation cards.

This was one of my sons favorite things to do. He loved collecting all the cards and the bus drivers were so super sweet with him (as were the boat and monorail drivers). I still have some of them in my purse from two years ago and sometimes when we are waiting (for a table or at the doctors) I will pull them out and he tells me all about them.

Perhaps a stupid question: What are transportation cards?

Riding the boats. We love taking the boat that sales from Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian.

Also like the CR / WL / FW boat loop. The only thing about this one is at night it can be a bit buggy.

The free tour of Sanaa at kidani village. who can turn down their bread plate for FREE

also at kidani and jambo house they have all the african guides. these guides do free programs like talking about their home countries and showing home movies. its really educational. last may we stayed at kidani and talkted to one of the guides about wedding traditions in africa and the US.

Not DVC related but.....

The band in the lobby of GF. The night we sat in the lobby and listened some drunk guy was yelling out song titles and they were hitting EVERY SINGLE ONE. Now THAT'S a band that's got some chops.

Many good ideas here. We take a "resort day" from time to time. We ride the monorail, bus, or boats and just visit the other resorts. We enjoy all the different themes and free activities. We have a blast riding the monorail loop and getting off at GF, CR and the Poly. We usually eat lunch or dinner at them (not free). Christmas is a great time to do this to see the decorations.

Perhaps a stupid question: What are transportation cards?

Sorry I just saw this question....A Transportation Card is like a baseball trading card. My son would collect them from the bus drivers, the boat captains, ect...they have information about each of the types of transpotation. How big they are, how many passangers they hold, things like that. Pretty cool for a 4 year old boy.
