The best day you ever had @ Disney?

My favorite day in the park happened this past AUg. It was our last day in the parks. We had been to them all and we were doing some special things that day. As we were leaving FW we met up with Minnie and some other characters and all the kids had their pictures taken with them. As we entered the MK the train was almost ready to leave and we caught it. We got off at SM and had no line to wait. After we rode SM there was no one waiting on line so we got to ride again.

We met Tigger and Mickey that day and the kids got to ride in the front of the monorail. We ended the night with Spectro. It was a great day to end the visit.

I've had very good times At WDW with my family, but the most memorable day was one I spent there on my own, when I got to do all the things I wanted! I had a business conference at the Hilton to attend Nov 1-2 last year, so I caught a 6:00AM flight down on Thur Oct 31 in order to spend the day in the parks. Since I would be returning with my family in Dec for 8 days I had no guilt. After renting a car and checking in, I hit Epcot a little before noon.

I hadn't done Test Track yet, so I hustled over there and got in the singles line. I walked and walked...when I got to the end, there was only one other person there!! Talk about a walk-on!

After Test Track I walked around World Showcase and ate lunch from several booths of the Food and Wine Festival. I did the boat ride at Norway and explored several of the pavilions. I explained to two PYTs at the Morocco pavilion that as much as I wanted to, I couldn't eat there that evening or (*sigh*) watch the belly dancer because I had made other plans.

I exited through the International Gate and walked to MGM. It took me a little while to find the path behind Boardwalk but eventually I did. When I got to MGM I went to the One Man's Dream exhibit and the Beauty and the Beast show (first time for each), and both brought me to tears. Although not a coaster buff, I wanted to try Rock 'n' Roller coaster. No one else in my family is both interested and tall enough, so this was my big chance. I chickened out once, but then got back in line and did it. What a rush! (Hopefully this year our fearless 7yo will make 48 inches so we can go together.)

I had a PS for a Fantasmic Dinner Package at Hollywood & Vine. After Fantasmic, I walked back to Epcot in record time (now that I knew the way), and rode Spaceship Earth. Even at 8:30, I was able to find an open spot on the fence at World Showcase Plaza for Illuminations at 9:00. Having woken up at 3:00AM, that was enough for one day!

Friday night I went to MNSSHP at MK, and Saturday night hit Pleasure Island. Overall, a pretty good business trip. (And yes I did go to the conference!)

It was in May 1986. My 4th trip, my DW's 3rd. and 1st time for my DD and DM. We were staying off site and had been having a hard time getting to the parks early. Tueday or Wednesday after Memorial day we managed to get to MK before opening and were in the 1st 100 into the park that morning. The weather was absolutley beautiful, the crowds were minimal, the cm's were great, the other guests that day were as laid back as we were. We got to do everything we wanted to do at a comfortable and relaxed pace. After viewing the parade that night we boarded the train for a last trip around the park before heading back to our hotel. When we got to the Frontierland station we were told that the train would remain in Frontierland until after the fire works show. We [along with about 20 other passengers] got to watch the fire works from the platform in Frontierland. It was so dark and peaceful we felt as if we were getting a private showing. It was great.

My DW and I have no kids but both enjoy kids and that is why we love Disney. Anyways, for both of us it had to be our last visit when we were at the Peter Pan ride. We were going to get on and the castmember asked if we could wait for the next car, which we happily did knowing that someone that was disabled was probably getting on. Anyways it was one of these kids that comes to the park for Make a Wish. She couldnt have been more than 8 years old and looked really sick. We went through our ride and got off and noticed that she stayed on the ride. As my wife and I left we noticed the brightest smile on her face. My wife and I both began to cry once we left the ride because we had actually witnessed a magical Disney moment. We stopped outside the ride and caught glimpses of her for the next 20 minutes as she kept reriding that ride.

My best day at WDW was just last year when I brought my 80yo Grandma with us. When we took her to the MK it was the best day ever. She had only gone to WDW once in 71' and she really wanted to go back but my "GRUMPY" old Grandpa wouldn't take her so we let her tag along with us. Her face was that of a little kids seeing and riding all the rides again.
My best moment was durning the same day when my 2yoDD went up to Pooh to get his autograph and my Gram went up with her. There was noone else waiting in line so Pooh started dancing around with them. It was great next thing I know the CM that was with Pooh asked if we'd like an escort to Pooh's ride! Pooh walked with us to the ride holding my DD and Grams hands all the way then we were put right on the ride with no wait. It was great but when we got off Pooh was gone! Thank goodness for camcorders, I don't think I would believe it really happend.

Not sure if I had a best day yet, but give me a few months and I may have something to post ;)

Gawrsh this is a hard one cause we have had so many good times and memorable ones. While reading some other posts two fond memories came flooding back in.

Our 1st trip in Dec 99. My MIL took me DW DD DS and BIL SIL Nephew and niece. Our 2nd day at Epcot back in a little nook near Germany we spotted Snow White. This was our first character sighting and it was even more special cause its DDs all time favorite character. I could feel a big ol lump in my throat as I tried to snap the picture. As the day went on we were coming out of the American Adventure and we heard the drumbeat of a parade. Tapestry of Nations was just an unexpected surprise. Right as the parade ends we see Mickey Minnie Goofy and Chip all dressed in Christmas outfits. What topped this off was Santa and Mrs. Claus came out and spent quality time with the kids. Here comes that lump in my throat back. Wait a minute this stuff shouldnt be happening to me, I am a 34 yr old carpenter, im supposed to be tough, right.
SIL suggests watching the "fireworks" show. We are tired and ready to hit the sack. But we stay for an hour in the same spot and im thinking this is ridicoulous, its just fireworks, we can see this at home during 4th of July. Boy was I wrong. I think I stood with my mouth open in awe the whole time. Illuminations is most definitely not just another fireworks show.

My 2nd favorite memory was in Dec 00. My Mom and Dad went with us, their first trip. We went to Cinderellas Castle for surprise Birthday for DD. To see the emotion on my parents faces was priceless. My Dad is 72 now and when we talk about things we did on that trip, he doesnt remember much, but he will always carry the memory of being with his only granddaugter on her 8th birthday.

I took my DGDthen6 to WDW, just her and I, Easter week of 2001....we stayed at ASMu. In a way it was her first time because I had taken her when she was 2, but she had little memory of it. I found the DIS after booking the trip and learned how crowded it was going to be. I'd bought the Unoffical Guide and studied it before leaving. All the info scared me to death. I was afraid I'd lose her in the crowds, not get to do much because of the lines, etc.

Our first day there, armed with "a plan," we arrived at MK 2 hours before opening because the Unoffical Guide said they sometimes open the parks an hour early, yada, yada, yada. Well we were the first people there....NO ONE was standing at the turnstiles with us. I was feeling pretty stupid. Skye was asking "When can we go in, Nana?"

We hadn't been standing there long, when a short round man in in business attire and a CM badge came out of one of the buildings and headed our way. I'm thinking, he's going to ask us to leave and come back later....at opening time.LOL Instead, he said hello and asked my DGD if she'd "Do him a favor." Skye said, "No." I guess all that talk about strangers worked! I told Skye I thought it would be okay this time. Well, he asked her to help him open MK! He told her to think up a magic word and he'd be back to tell us what to do.

Skye opened the park in a big ceremony, threw pixie dust, she was given a certificate and a "magic wand"....then the rode us up Main Street on a little firetruck! It was so special, I couldn't believe it was all happening to us.

The next evening we had dinner at Rose & Crown. We got a table on the patio for Illuminations. During dinner and before the show, one of the CM's came up and asked Skye if she wanted to do her a favor! This time she said yes right away! She asked her to help her "start" Illuminations! They gave her a wand that looked like one of those glowing weapons on Star Wars, it glowed green and she used that to "start" the Illuminations show. She got another certificate too. When we called her mother to tell her what all had happened so far, I told her that I wouldn't be surprised if they offered Skye the "Key to the Kingdom" the next day! Everything just seemed to happen on that trip!

Oh, well, I'm rambling. But that whole trip was awsome. Don't ever worry about the time of year, whether it will be busy or not, whether you're staying at the right resort and all that. Magic can happen at anytime or any place.

The best and most memorable trip to the World was October 2002 at MNSSHP, where we dressed up (can't give away our identify because we may go again this year and don't want to give away our costume idea for people to copy). Our costumes were so cool, and we go SOOOO much attention. We felt like celebrities, we had numerous cast members coming up to us and telling us we are great, also we had no less than 40 people ask to take our pictures. We walked down the street thru the parade route before it began and people were actually applauding. WOW it was awesome. While we watched the parade, Minnie Mouse was up on a float and looked over at us and clapped and thru us kisses. Luckily we had already done MK earlier in our trip so all we did during this party was prance around. I'll never forget it, Disney truly is magical.

The day we got engaged!!! I couldn't stop smiling!!
Of course any day at WDW is the best!!!

OMG Alyssa - you got engaged on our wedding day! It *WAS* a good day in WDW :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Halloween 2001...After a day at Animal Kingdom, my fiance proposed in front of the Castle just as the panoramic fireworks were beginning!!!

I've got a three-way tie for best day.

1. January 1999, our daughter had just turned one and we took her for her first WDW trip.

2. November 1999, I took our 22 month old daughter on a three day weekend, just the two of us - Daddy and His Little Girl. If I had to choose, that would probably be the best.

3. Summer, 1979. I was 13 and was permitted (for the first time in 3 family trips) to take the monorail from the Contemporary (where we were staying) to the Magic Kingdom and spend most of the day there ON MY OWN! I can remember so much of that day, I think it sealed my WDW fate forever. Since then, I've spent parts of at least 100 more days at the Magic Kingdom. My daughter, of course, will have to wait until she's 25 to go on her own! :) :)

January 15, 2003 without a doubt! :Pinkbounc
The ONLY way it could have been better is if Mickey had showed up to tuck us into bed that night! :jester: And I half expected it! ;)

Arrived at MK. Browsed around, chatted with CM's.
One CM we spoke to for quite awhile ended up offering us to be Grand Marshals in that day's parade! :bounce:
I happened to see a painter. I (ehem) asked him if I could have a Wet Paint sign. :teeth: Request granted. I gave him a NE DS pin and a big Thank You. :bounce:
Had a grand day.
Attended Scoop Sanderson's pin seminar.
Rode in the parade. :bounce: :bounce: (Awarded MM ears with our names on them.) :bounce:
Scoop rode in the front seat of the car we were in and cheered the crowd on for us. :smooth: :bounce:
Afterwards Scoop awarded me a LE750 Scoop Sanderson pin! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: He even signed the back presenting it with our names, from him and dated it.
We left and ate dinner at House of Blues.
Went and viewed Illuminations.
Whatta day!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :teeth:

Just a few weeks ago I wrote a few areas at WDW telling them about our WONDERFUL trip!
I received in the mail a LE1000 Leadership pin, along with a personal handwritten note!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
The other dept also called me last week to thank me for my letter and said they were passing it on to numerous areas that all helped make our trip pure magic!
:bounce: :bounce:

Future trips will be mighty hard to beat -- if they can. This last one was almost as perfect as it can get.
:earsgirl: :teeth:

I love reading about your "special pin moments". They make me smile, mostly because you appreciate them so much. I enjoy your parade picture at the end of your posts as well :D .

It was my DD (she had just turned 5) first trip to the MK, we were watching the Christmas show that they put on in front of the castle, when it was over she came over to me and gave me a huge hug and said "thank you Mommy" I was so touched-it was just so unexpected.
