Does anyone have a recommendation on the really good, small cooler that will fit in a backpack, or better yet a backpack style cooler that would also have a separate zipped area that would store non food/drink items.

thanks!

What size do you need the cooler to be? We just take a larger size insulated lunch box the folds flat when it's empty, and put it in the backpack we take to the park. Doesn't take up too much room and is very light to carry.

Edit to add that we use the Lands End Featherlight lunch boxes, and they work great.

I have a camelbak hydration pack I use for hiking but I am wondering if it will work for you. You can fill the pouch with ice and a tiny bit of water and place your items in the pack with it to keep them cold. Mine has a separate area that I keep other items like a few first aid supplies, my wallet, and snacks plus it has a few small pockets. I can fit plenty of supplies for a day trip. Plus you can drink the ice water. I think you brought up a great question and I may consider bringing mine now that I'm thinking about it! Good luck!
