The Best Character Meal?

Which characters appear at Cape May? Is the food better than the Crystal Palace, or basically the same?

We loved that Ohana had a photographer to take pictures with Stitch. (He's my daughters favorite). I wish more character meals had photographers.

"Which characters appear at Cape May? Is the food better than the Crystal Palace, or basically the same?"

Cape May has Minnie, Donald and Goofy. It was far less crowded than Crystal Palace and we liked that it was a way more relaxed way to start the morning. The food was good, but the food at Crystal Palace is maybe slightly better.

The only one we have done so far is Tusker House in 2016. We did one of the final ADRs for breakfast time, which allowed us to sample some of the lunch fare as well. We were glad we had an ADR because they were turning away people at the podium and all the tables appeared full inside. Food was more than satisfactory for our tastes and we were seated promptly. The characters in our experience were great. They came to our table multiple times and our son got to join the characters for a safari jamboree of sorts (think dancing around the restaurant). If it were not for a desire to see other characters on our upcoming trip, we would return to Tusker House.

We love characters - our favorites:
Crystal Palace - breakfast or lunch, pooh/eeyore are some of our favorites and food is good (though I heard they are testing handing out pre-printed cards versus allowing characters to autograph)

Ohana - for breakfast... we love Lilo... PLUS Mickey and Pluto are there. Food is good, and not buffet, so we got to sit and rest.

Akershus - for breakfast... for princesses, we have a daughter and she got to meet everyone (even Belle) for only 1 DDP credit (versus Cinderella Royal Table that is 2 credits). Breakfast food was good (plus, you can ask your waiter to bring you Mickey waffles). AND, a pre-park opening (PPO) reservation at 8 a.m. got us on Frozen before the rope drop crowds hit (without using a fast pass).

Garden Grill and Tusker House - for breakfast... we have heard good things and are testing these out on our next trip... Garden Grill breakfast Candlelight Processional Package and Tusker House breakfast River of Lights Package. Glad to hear GG is not buffet (rest!) and Mickey/Pluto are usually there with Chip and Dale. Tusker House - heard the food is awesome and characters (inc. Donald / Daisy) are good. Can't wait!

We've tried others (Park Fare for dinner, Cinderella Royal Table for breakfast, Chef Mickey for breakfast/brunch, etc.), but the ones above are our favorites. Ohana is traditionally our leaving day breakfast before we hit the road home (Lilo and Mickey plus no buffet are a good, restful send off for us).

We love the character interaction at 1900 Park Fare at dinner. The stepsisters are hilarious! We also love dinner at Hollywood & Vine during Halloween and Christmas. The characters' costumes are adorable.

We love Ohana's for breakfast as well as Crystal Palace. And 1900 Park Fare breakfast was good too. It really depends on what character's you're looking for. Always end up at Ohana's breakfast on our last day. We love Stitch. Plus they have Stitch waffles too!

We are really big on breakfast, so many of the character meals we've had were breakfast buffets. Crystal Palace (Pooh and friends) is probably our top choice. We have also done Chef Mickey's breakfast a time or two. Garden Grill has great characters (Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip/Dale), but it wasn't our favorite meal. When our kids were really into Disney Jr. we ate at Hollywood & Vine a few times (all DisJr characters and fun songs), both breakfast and lunch. Great food too! We haven't done character meals in a long time, but CP is one we'd probably revisit above the others.

I'd consider going to 1900 Park Fare! You can see a good mix of characters at both breakfast and dinner, some of whom aren't all that easy to find in the parks! I loved the interactions at breakfast with the Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins, and the Winnie the Pooh characters were definitely fun to see as well -- I know you said your kids like Winnie the Pooh and friends, so this would be a good bonus if you weren't up to Crystal Palace. The strawberry soup is very, very good, and they did have a wide variety of other foods to choose from! I'd say this would be a good stop before or after a day at the Magic Kingdom, since it's an easy ride to and from that park.
