The Berg-Berts do WDW, Part 30 – Closing Thoughts

Glad you didn't get lost on your way to the airport. My kids would have loved to go to that Mc's but you would never have got them out. We avoid McDonalds with a play areas if we are in a hurray.

If the car is so full how are you going to bring all the new stuff back?

Hope you have a great day!!!!! How hot is it in Sept.?

NAB we are FedExing the boys back with all their stuff. It was in the contract they signed to agree to go.

It has been very warm. If you don't like heat or aren't accustomed to it, it would be miserable. Honestly, though, we have never been extremely uncomfortable.

Hey saschab and Ready to Go, thanks for dropping by and leaving a note.

Saschab, don't apologize, no one else does.

Ready to Go - I just haven't adjusted to the TSF. Grew up many a year at the GSF. Tulsa has always seemed to be making a statement by having a "state" fair. But that's just me.

As you may remember from the last episode, we left our intrepid travelers somewhere in the middle of nowhere, but not lost.

We arrived at the hotel that we booked through Priceline. Bill Shatner has come a long way from commanding a starship and getting all of the alien babes. Now he’s the huckster for this “budget” trip site. Now, if you have had a great experience with Priceline, happy-happy-joy-joy for you. I didn’t have a great trip with this one. Got a 2 star for $35 (plus hidden charges and a couple of taxes). Then I read the fine print for the stupid room I just bought. “This room most likely will only have one bed. Any larger or additional beds will require an upgrade charge. (Or something like that.)” Dadgum. Why didn’t they say that upfront.

We get to the hotel and I walk in. And yes, for some of you wondering – right hotel, right day, right city. I walk up to the desk like I know what I’m doing (‘cause ya’ll know I don’t, right?). I am in the system the little computer shows. Outstanding. “Would you happen to have any rooms with TWO beds?” “Well sir, we don’t have any and won’t have any until October 4.” Nuts.

Conference time. With the wife. The brains of the organization. And the holder of the check book. We decide to circumvent this problem with an easy fix – we will buy an inflatable mattress for the boys and borrow sheets and blankets and pillows from the hotel. She is so smart. And beautiful. A little on the lovingly pushy side, though. But I need it.

Into the room and only partially unload the car. The poor thing sounded like a little burro after Fat Albert rode it down the Grand Canyon and got off. The boys just love being in a hotel room.

They don’t care if it’s small or large. This was an Extended Stay room. It suited our needs. But we needed supper. And we wanted to do something different.

Maybe ya’ll have heard about the proposed restaurant in Orlando, T.Rex. Well Kansas City’s just opened this summer. We decided to try that for supper. So did most of Kansas City. It was a 2 ½ hour wait. Nu uh. Not going to happen.

Then began the fight. #1S was mad because we weren’t staying at T.Rex. Nor would we let him buy anything at the gift store. It was a really cool place. Lisa and I were both kind of miffed that we couldn’t eat there. But #1S is pouting around (no, that is not putting). We decide to do Carrino’s. It’s Italian. #1S loves Fettucini Alfredo. That should change his mood, right? Nope. We threaten him with not letting him do anything at Disney, that he wants. Nope. Finally we tell him that if he doesn’t switch his ‘tude, he loses $10. No. We are not model parents. You want to give our kids a whirl we rent them out.

By the time we get to the restaurant – across the parking lot – hehehe – he has improved his attitude. And we go into Carrino’s. It was good. Lisa enjoyed her, um, whatever she had. I know she enjoyed it. She stuffed herself. I had a Panini that was great. #1S did f.a. (see above paragraph). #2S – nuthin. Nada. Zilch. Because he was getting something special also – Sonic. After we ate, we swung through Sonic and grabbed his supper.

Then off to Wal-Mart to get an inflatable bed. We decided against the bed and pump and went with 2 sleeping bags. Back into the room and we were getting ready for bed. Because we had to get up before God the next morning. It was Sunday. And we were going to Disney.

Nice dising? there Dre.

Are you sure your not talking about my kids, oh yeah I have a girl. The kids love hotel rooms. That is there vacation. They check out every drawer, fight over the stationary etc.

But now you are going to have two sleeping bags to pack in that over packed car. I would say they would make good blankets in the car but the weather isn't that cold there. My kids would play under them. I guess you can Fed X them home with the boys :lmao:

Hope you have a great day. The Vikings are coming.... :sunny:

Just had to catch up before we leave...just in case there was something I should know. We will be in the air this time tomorrow, and hope to see you guys tomorrow afternoon/early evening!

The heat scares me. I am NOT a happy camper if it's too hot. Hope we don't have a repeat of our 2nd-anniversary-trip-where-we-almost-got-divorced-because-I-was-so-cranky-from-the-heat!! That was our last "just the 2 of us trip". I'm hoping for more pixie dust and smiles this time. I am cautiously optimistic. :teeth:

Hope you're having fun. See you soon!!!!! :Pinkbounc

For a room with one bed, it sure looks like plenty of floor room! Should be a comfortable night for you....at least it wasn't a week!

Can't wait to hear more!

Did you know that every hour actually exists throughout the night? I know because I woke up during every hour. Finally at 3-you-have-to-be-stupid-to-get-up-this-early:30, I woke up and got out of bed. I played on the computer and showered. Lisa stirred soon after. The boys were out cold until almost 5:00. But we all managed to get up and get ready without major issues.

The airport was a snap. Dropped the car off at long term parking. We had to pay the valet a hefty tip for all the luggage, though. But chiropractic care is covered under my home owner’s insurance. Then zip on the shuttle to the airport. It was funny when we got off the shuttle. The luggage rack was full when we left the parking lot. When we got off, it was practically empty. At that point I started calling it “the furniture”.

We got into the airport looking like a couple of Sherpa’s for the Maharajah and entourage. We got checked in and found the gate (conveniently located next to each other). We all passed through security. And Lisa and the boys went to hunt, kill, and consume breakfast. Cinnabon cinnamon rolls. And they were good. I know this because #2S took one bite and refused the rest. And Lisa drug it back to the cave, ur, gate for me to eat. Without coffee.

They called us onto the plane and we got off early. Sort of. We got out of the gate but not off the tarmac early. And made our connection with plenty of time. Because it was late. Getting to the same airport we were at. But once it arrived, we got on board and we were off to Orlando.

Ya’ll are getting tired of the build up, I know.

So I will end it here.

We got there, had fun, went home.

Thanks for coming.

Just kidding.

But we got to Orlando and said a small prayer for the poor cast members who would have to be carrying all the furniture to the hotel. Because we weren’t having to on Disney’s Magical Express. The real reason your ticket prices are going up next year is to pay for the chiropractor visits for the Magical Express people who moved our furniture.

But we got on the DME bus and …. No magic. The T.V.s weren’t working. (see most of our trip was this way – it was great, but no “magic” – you’ll see.)
Then we rolled up to the Wilderness Lodge. We love this place. It was our first Disney resort. It will likely always be our “home”. But, again, no magic. And we got to see our first example of Adults Behaving Like Children. Well, I got to see it. Lisa was off watching Children Behaving Like Children. I was watching a grown man get very argumentative to a young Ken and Barbie who just got off the bus. “Excuse me, but blah blah blah blah.” So, he put this young, eager, looking for magic couple in their place. One of the cast members behind the counter stepped right up and helped the poor couple who looked completely befuddled. Right next to the Wackjob.

I got our packet and gathered the family, and it was off to the room. I didn’t tell them where we were going, but I knew what was waiting for us. Poolside. First floor, Courtyard View. The pool is right out side our balcony/patio. It is nice. And we got the bunkbeds. So now the boys can sleep without someone getting a foot in the nose.

We unloaded the basics and got ready to head off to begin our park hopping extravaganza.

First stop – Magic Kingdom.

Glad you made it safe and sound. We loved the WL. we to were on the main floor too. Loved it was close to the lobby and close to the bus stop. Do the boys hit the cowbells just outside the doors going to the bus? Ours fought to see who could get there first to hit them.

How long it did take to get all that furniture to your room?

Next Magic Kingdom, will it be my bus, or boat I wonder.....

Lacto....you had me a little nervous there for a minute! Thought for sure you were really gonna leave us hanging, like you could do that!?!

Keep the TR coming...I can't wait to hear more! :thumbsup2

I am living Disney through all the TR's I am currently engrossed in! :goodvibes
Thanks for sharing your Disney Experience! :)

So we have 10 minutes to find the Raven concert. We get there just as the music is starting. Be we don’t see Raven. Oh she was there. So were most of the pre-teen children from the greater Oklahoma City area. It was packed. Overflowing out of the pavilion and outside. And we weren’t getting in. Dre tried, bless her heart. But there was no way she and the boy were getting anywhere close for him to see Raven. So we left.
.....

Lovin' your pre-TR!

My DMIL took our DD (9) to see Raven at the Porter County (IN) Fair. She said it was packed! So glad grandma takes DD to stuff like that so I don't have to.

We've even had DD convinced since a very young age that only grandparents can take kids to Chuck E. Cheese. Bwahahahaha! My DMIL has been to CEC more times than she count while I have never stepped foot in that retched place. Suckers. But, I'll get my payback one day - I'm sure DD will make me take HER kids there. Hmmm, maybe he'll go out of business before then!

Nice move with the kids/grandparents. Unfortunately, our parents live too far away and can't take the boys. But we don't mind. We've given up Chuck for something even better. Incredible Pizza Company. There aren't many around, yet, but it will crush Chuck if it gets too far spread. It is Chuck on steriod. The Chuckinator. All you can eat pizza buffet for $6. Themed dining areas. Game room the size of most Chuck E. buildings. Separate kids' play area. Bowling, mini-bowling, mini-golf, bumper cars, go-karts. All under one roof.

Arkansas and Oklahoma are the only places I've heard of it, though.

And thanks for dropping by.

I don't know how long it took. I was there when we got there, so it must have been early enough for the EMTs to come and get the now back injured porters.

It's okay Kimba, people fall asleep during mine also. And I thought I was interesting.

Hey folks, thanks for dropping by.

I'll be out for a couple of days getting the rest of the trip done and getting home.

Because I want to have pics for the report, I will be holding off until I get on solid ground again. See you Tuesday.

Sounds like you guys are having FUN!!!

I Laughed at the Sherpa for the Maharajah comment!

AND

The bunk beds so no one gets a foot in their face!!!

I always get either the "sundial sleeper" or his brother the "bed-wetter" or their sister the "sweaty furnace" (names omitted to protect the innocent) so bunk beds would be marvy!

You have such a fabulous "voice" and I'm sure most of your readers appreciate your humor and honesty! I know I sure do!

Hope the Strep Throat is getting better!

"See" ya soon!!!

Thought I would bring you back to the first page. Can't wait to here more. Hope you have lots of pictures. I love pictures. Speaking of pictures. Dre. you look very young in the one with Sheri.

We were guessing to who that was, Lou said Steph. maybe. I said you. I win. That was only because I saw your picture here. Well the back of you anyway. Minnie Moo said it couldn't be you because your hair is lighter.

So on with the show..... popcorn::

We have arrived home safely. And are hard at work again.
