I have to say, things were really interesting today. It sort of started last week when my ex was being "generous" and let me have Maddy a day early. I smelled a rat right away, but happily took her an extra day. He never does something like that unless he's sneaking around.
Well, my instincts were correct. At today's deposition, he was asked what his address was, and he gave a completely NEW address. When asked how long he'd lived there, he said, "Since Thursday." He couldn't find a babysitter for Maddy, so he had me watch her while he got a new apartment. Not a real biggie, but he can't even be honest with me about that. When asked who lived there, he said, "Just myself and my daughter Madison."
Well, a few questions later, he was asked if he had a girlfriend. Yup. How old is she? 28
eek: I THOUGHT SHE WAS **OLDER**!!). Where does she live? He paused. A LONG time. Then he said, "With me."
My lawyer (and I have to say I enjoyed this) said in a snarling tone, "But sir, did I not just ask you who resided in your apartment? You said just you and your daughter. Do you need to take a few moments to refresh your memory before we continue?" Apparently, all of my suspicions were DEAD ON. Dawn has NO job. She's lived with him for the 4 out of 6 weeks they've been together. Now, here's the kicker:
She's been married, but my ex doesn't know if she's divorced.
She has 3 kids.
She doesn't take care of them.

I have to tell you, I was SO ANGRY that my heart was POUNDING in my chest. I could see my shirt bouncing around from the heartbeat.
Why in the heck is this woman taking care of my daughter when she has 3 kids of her OWN?!!?! He said that she's moving back to Indiana in a few weeks, but I don't believe it. She has ZERO BUSINESS taking care of my daughter if she can't take care of her own 3 kids.
I was also REALLY angry with this, because last night I called to talk to Maddy and both he and Dawn were trying to distract her and get her off of the phone. He finally said that Dawn was going home, and to give her hugs and kisses bye-bye. Then Dawn said she was going home, she loved Maddy, etc.
Uhhh...but you *were* home. They were playing a game with me to make me think she didn't live there. But of course, that all played out today.
Numerous other lies were told that my lawyer uncovered, and a lot of my ex's stories didn't make sense. He doesn't want me to have Maddy full time because of 4 things: 1. She and I share a bedroom/2. He doesn't have extended family here/3. She doesn't go to bed at a decent hour here/4. She cut her own hair here once.
He claimed he doesn't know how much money he brings home in a week.
He was asked to bring in all of these financial papers, bank statements, closing paperwork, etc. and he brought in not even half of what was asked for. What he did bring in was stuffed and crammed into big manila envelopes, which were sitting inside of a giant gumball box.
I've NEVER taken care of my "important" paperwork like THAT!!
My deposition was really easy and quick, and I at least answered questions instead of "I don't know" or one word answers like my ex. I didn't know my deposition was today, either. It was a bit odd.
The more bizarre thing that happened was during my ex's deposition, his lawyer (who looked like the ringlead of the vampires from The Lost Boys...the older guy with the glasses) sat there with a big POODLE in his lap!! He was stroking it like Mr. Bigglesworth from Austin Powers. My lawyer and I nearly died laughing later.
I had to confess to his lawyer and court reporter today that Maddy said my ex has been hitting her. If looks could kill, I'd be dead and buried. Luckily, I was able to talk to her this evening. I was worried he'd play another game.
So, that's it for now. Maddy was happy to talk to me tonight, and excited to come over. My next step will be the temporary custody hearing on May 27th....please pray for Maddy and I that she will stay with me.
Sorry for the long post. Needed to vent a little.
