the bathrooms need fixing at ssr

I have an alternative agenda in keeping this going, I hope the hatred of SSR continues and gives me more availability....LOL

I agree -- keep the hatred flowing. By the time the news winds its way through the Disboards folks will know that SSR not only seems to encompass the entire 47 square miles of the WDW property, but it has no operational washrooms.

I hope you all noticed I was simply sympathtetic to the OP on that VB filthiest room thread.... :)

Mods... are we allowed to post the DVC MS Satisfaction email address? :surfweb:

Yes, generic addresses like Member Services, Member Satisfation, etc. are allowed. Individual guide, CM address are not.

7 pages of postings so far about one of the bathroom stalls at SSR...

Remind me again why I spend time on the DIS? :rotfl:

Hey, I learned something here - the definition of a troll! Made reading through 8 pages (!) educational. :teacher:

Well #2 is a little depressed because of all the attention #5 is getting because of the missing door.

#7 is notably upset because the wallpaper is coming undone above him.

#3 is still wishing someone would hit him with an ECV, he needs a facelift bad!

And #1 of course is just happy to be closest to the door!

Collectively they all seem content, although are a bit apprehensive about the rush during the Half Time show of the Super bowl!:lmao:
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

But there is also another bracket or hinge mounted in front of the wall mount in the second photo that isn't present in the top pic.

Perhaps second picture is of the same hinge taken from the interior of the stall.

If I understood the OP correctly, the noise bothered her only when the balcony door was open.

If that's the case, I'm impressed that the SSR units are sufficiently soundproofed to block out the noise of sirens.:thumbsup2

Secondly, no sympathy from me to hear the noise when the door is open. There are no screens on the doors. I think it's a very bad idea to leave the balcony/patio doors open. It's a waste of energy assuming the heat or AC is sometimes on and invites creatures of all sorts to share the villa with you as well as future guests.:sad2:

I have found the SSR villas to be very well soundproofed.

When my family and I vacationed at SSR in January of 2005 we had a room in Congress Park with a partial view of DTD. I recall seeing the midnight fireworks from PI through the window one night and pointing them out to DW. We could only hear a very soft popping sound inside the villa.

I'm 23 and have not had a problem with the DVC CMs taking me seriously. This is not to say that I haven't come across any rude CMs, but those I have have encountered were in the theme parks and were most likely in a bad mood due to the heat and crowds. If I've ever had a complaint with a DVC CM they have listened intently and promised to rectify the situation.

Hey, how about chillin' a bit folks. I think you have scared off the OP. I know you are scaring me. :scared1:

If I had just shelled out a bunch of cash, I might be taking photos too to tell people about problems I found. Especially if I might actually be around for the end of the contract period. I'll be 92 in 2042, so I'll just be drolling in my villa and I won't care about anything. But if I were only going to be at retirement age at the end of the contract, I'd want DVC to take care of the place, too.

I tend to doubt what was actually told to the CM's anyway. I know that several people, myself included have asked if she requested a different room due to noise, but got no response, yet she responds quite a bit about being 28 years old. :rotfl: She probably just told them it was a mess and they called housekeeping, if she reported it at all.

Quite honestly, I feel sorry for the original OP. Like me, she's new to this board. Probably had been checking out the board but never became a member. And when she does because she feels like she can share info like the rest of us . . . . BAM! She gets slammed.

I'm thankful I checked out this site a year before I joined or else that thread would have made me think twice about posting. And I know there are nice people who are regulars on this board becuase I met one duing my last trip at SSR. :)

And no offense, tisbit, but you don't know what she told CM because you weren't there. On all boards, there's a certain amount of trust you have in the veracity of members' posts. On another note, don't know why she points out that she's 28. But so what? Maybe she's proud of the fact she's 28 and is already a member of DVC! Good for her.

And for the original OP, I'll be at SSR in May. I'll check out the bathrooms myself and report back if you'd like. But I'm checking out of this thread. It's giving me a real :headache:

We just got back from disney this past tuesday we stayed 7nights 8 days at ssr. We were disappointed, we have stayed here in the past and never had a problem. We own 150 pts at vero beach and additional 85 pts at ssr. We are only 28 years old so I am not sure if this is why the lady from check in was rude to us or what. First of all Our room number was 5712 in the paddock which is right across the street from the fire station which had a call at least once every 2 hrs. we could not have our patio doors open cause we have a 16month old and when she would nap the doors had to be closed we would hear the sirens all the time. I guess it wasnt all that bad till the night time, cause most of the day were at the parks. the second bad thing was the bathrooms in the lobby area are a reck. Some stalls have doors missing, the stalls were coming a part from the walls, locks were missing. This resort is not that old y in the world wouldnt they check this stuff, I have pictures to prove it. when I went to the front the girl was like ok I will have someone look at that. Ok who ever cleans them should know this, and have mentioned something to the maintance people. Isnt the money at the end of the year that we pay suppose to go for fixing things like this? I think that this resort is toooo large for what they have to offer. one self serve restuarant that can handle maybe 25 people at most. 4 pool areas which is nice to have it spread out instead of one. all in all this resort is good if u are going with a large group and want to go your own ways. all in all the bw or ak are way better resorts. maybe cause there more all together then all spread out like ssr.

Forward your complaint and photos to:

No offense taken. From the get go, people gave her somewhat the benefit of the doubt, myself included. The original title of the post was "SSR the value resort of DVC", so it was somewhat confrontational to begin with. As for not knowing what she said or didn't say, you are right, but we did ask questions, but she wouldn't respond, before it got more hostile.

I don't have a problem with a 28 year old, but she seems to think she isn't going to be taken seriously for that fact, a fact she pointed out first. I think the OP needed something to complain about and found it. One stall that was missing a door in an 8 stall public bathroom. I have seen far worse problems even at Disney. If she were an owner at SSR, I could even understand her being somewhat upset, but that wasn't the case.

Plus in the CM's defense, the CM never appeared rude to me, but rather said that she would take notify someone....it seems the OP wanted everyone to be as shocked as she was.

Tisbit, I agree. To me, I think she felt others would be as shocked as she was and when they weren't . . . well, we had the following posts.

I did see the pictures of the peeling wall paper and hinges partly torn from the walls. Not what I would expect after having invested so much $$ into DVC, and maybe that's where some of her outrage came from. But on the other hand, as a PP said, we don't know how long that condition had existed for.

And I'm not naming names, (becuase I'm not starting a war :sad2: ) but last year we visited friends at another DVC resort and let me tell you, the bathroom in their lobby was in SEVERE need of upkeep. Wallpaper peeling. Wooden molding busted. I was shocked when I saw the condition. But that's just my 2 cents, which probably isn't needed on this thread. :upsidedow

I'm not sure what baffles me more:

Taking pictures of bathroom walls/doors while on vacation;

Starting a thread about it and posting the pictures;

Or that the bathroom stall/door thread is 6 pages long.

Weird.....
