My opinion about the Barnstormer.....

In the past, on the Disney app, I have seen wait times up to 50 minutes for this ride. I will tell you now and if you only ever take one piece of advice from me, please take this one.....NEVER EVER wait more than 30 seconds to go on this ride. If you do, you will have waited more than double the length time of this "ride", Possibly even triple. We got on, then we got off. Did we move??? What just happened? Is that it???? No...cant be. No way. What? It is ?????

Do you know what is more exciting than this ride? Just hop twice. It takes about the same amount of time and is definitely more exciting. DD asked if we could go again. Sure, why not? I have 5 seconds. Wow.......The Barnstormer. Hahahaha! I will never forget it, thats for sure!

Edit: So I just had to know the exact length time of this ride and just googled it. I saw it was 1 minute, 3 seconds. NO WAY. There is no way we were on that for a minute. Anyone going soon, can you please time it. Now I need to know!!

2nd Edit....found a video...

So, by the time you are at the top of this hill until you are stopped is 25 seconds.

This is designed as a child's first roller coaster. It's mild and quick because that is what an average three year old can handle in terms of thrills. If you have no children, or your children have graduated to slightly better coasters then you should not wait more than a few minutes here.
If you want to ride this anyways and don't want to wait it is almost always available as a eleventh fast pass for five minutes from when you are booking it.

I agree about not waiting! What a terrible ride, and a terrible intro to rollercoasters for kids, if that's truly the idea. Bouncing your back off a boulder, while hammering your knees would be less painful. The dinky seasonal amusement park in the park near me has a roller coaster that's more fun than this and lasts longer, and I hate that place.

I have a soft spot for this ride, because it was a great way to ease my scaredy-cat 4yo into an eventual love of coasters! First barnstormer, then 7dmt, then big thunder, and eventually space! I love hearing that little voice shout "Again! Again!" when the coaster comes to a stop.

I saw there were 50 min waits there this week! Yikes! If that were the case, I agree. Would have been better to roll my kid down a hill. Haha

This was one of my 3.5 year old's favorite rides on our last trip (see second video below). Of course it's not going to compare to many of coasters for older kids and adults, but I loved the excitement of my kid when he got off and wanted to ride again and he was too short to ride Mine Train. Barnstormer will always be one of my favorites for that reason alone :)

I'm hoping my 3 year old will ride this with me. I don't do big coasters (i.e. Rock n Rollercoaster, Mt. Everest) so hoping he's not a scaredy cat like I am and will get on this one and see it's not that bad. I haven't had much luck getting him on rides so far however. Even the small things at the local fairs - he won't even go near them.

I did ask him if he wanted to ride Dumbo when we go and he said "Yes!" Then I said it goes up in the air and he so, "Oh, no I don't want to ride Dumbo." :confused3:rotfl:

We love Barnstormer. The themeing is top notch and is a great representation of Goofy! We usually ride it early in our day, or at the end of the night. One trip we were able to ride 5 times in a row at the end of the night- didn't even have to get off for 3 of those. The kids LOVED it and still talk about it as one of their favorite Disney memories.

This is a great introduction rollercoaster for young children. You know instantly whether or not they're going to like rollercoasters and it ends very quickly. It's out in the open, where they can see the entire track before going on it, including the height.

This was the first rollercoaster my older son went on (3 years old at the time) and my youngest (3 now) has been eager to try it. Next Sunday, it's our first FP+ because my 3-yearold chose it. I'm not sure how he's going to be but I know that it will end very quickly if he doesn't enjoy it.

And frankly, you can see the whole run from the line, so if you expected anything else but a quick kids run, then you were not paying attention.

Fun for what it is.

Our 3 year old is sort of a scaredy cat too, and he liked it. Just get them on once and they'll have fun!!

We never really rode it until we had kids, didn't see the purpose. But now that we've ridden with the kids and have the memories, we'll likely ride it every time moving forward.

It's DGD's favorite ride. Because it was the first one she ever rode alone. Now DH and I love to take a break, park ourselves on the wall outside the exit and let her ride over and over and over again. Luckily, since the ride is short the line moves fast. I've never been in the park when it had any significant wait

the first year this ride was open, my kids rode this ride 5 times in a row without getting off.. It was a dead night , believe EMH PM, late night( back in the september low crowds days) .. There was no line..so they let me kids re-ride... In total I think they rode it about 10 times within a 30 min. period.. they were both just old enough to ride alone... was a nice experience.... until DD wakes up at 3am vomiting...nothing else.. we were thinking her mind is still on that ride!

oh and for scared cats, like my DS,, the perfect beginner ride.. you see every drop and curve from the outside, so they know, know surprises. I can see SDMT making some kids nervous,, DS didnt like the tunnel thing.

myself and my 17 year old grandson find this a fun but quick ride because it is designed for little kids...therefore very quick. I personally think its a great little coaster for first time little ones.

my 10 year old still loves this ride. sure its short, but so is the attention span of the little ones that its truly meant for. ;)

My daughter rode the Barnstormer right after turning 2, and it became her favorite ride. Now she's almost 3 and the SDMT is her new favorite. I think it's a great starter coaster, especially for toddlers. I wish they took photos for this ride though to capture the kids first roller coaster. I love the pics and video we have from riding the SDMT.
